Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Dear Parishioner,
We end the church year today. We call the last Sunday of the church
year the Feast of Christ the King. This feast day is a rather recent addition to
the church calendar. What is it all about? We remember today all that we
reflected upon throughout the church year.
Jesus is an unorthodox king. As he once said, “My Kingdom is not of
this World” (John 18:36). The statement does not mean that his kingdom is not in the here and now.
It is right here, right now, as well as something that revolves around the heavenly realm.
What he meant when he uttered the words above is that he does not hold worldly values which seem to revolve
around self-promotion. His values reflect unselfishness that seeks to serve God and neighbor. If we are a true follower
of him we hold to these same values.
We live in the Kingdom and we live in the community that is Sacred Heart. There is a temptation to make our
religion just about ourselves and our own salvation. This would not be reflective of the Kingdom Jesus promoted.
When Christianity becomes just an exercise in navel gazing, that is a distortion of the message Jesus proclaimed.
As we begin the New Year, hopefully, we can make a resolution to live in the realm that Jesus taught about.
That would be a great goal for us all.
Blessings,
Fr. Mark
P.S. Thanksgiving day we will be having a Mass at 9 a.m. A wonderful way to start the day is to begin it with worship
in church. We have so many things that are disturbing in our world. We think of all the events that took place in Paris
recently. Thanksgiving would be a good day to come to church and pray for French Citizens who died. The French
were the first allies of the United States. It would seem that we could show our love by praying for their dead and
wounded.
The St. Mary’s Food Pantry served an average of
190 families consisting of over 750 individuals per
month for the past 6 months. Sacred Heart Parish
continues to generously provide over 60% of the
monetary and food donations, along with many
volunteer hours to keep the pantry running. It is
through your generosity we are able to keep the
doors to the pantry open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to
help those in need. Thank you for all Sacred Heart does to help in this
very necessary out-reach to the community.
TIME TO CHANGE OUT
OUR MISSALS
We are seeking Volunteers to help
change out the current cycle of
Missals to the next cycle dated
November 29, 2015 —March 19,
2016. We will begin immediately
following the 8:30a.m. daily Mass
on Wednesday, November 25.
Please gather in the church.
Thanks for your help in advance!

How often do we put all our time and energy into building a
kingdom here on earth, forgetting that life here is short? The
real kingdom is in the next life. Yet, how much time and energy
do we invest in working for that eternal kingdom?
Book Discussion Groups Coming
To Sacred Heart Parish
In preparation of the “Year of Mercy” we are
seeking volunteers to lead a Book Discussion
Group in their homes. Once we have leaders in
place then various groups will be formed. This will probably be a
6/week session. A sign-up sheet of “Interest” is available in the
front vestibule of the church. Please consider signing up or call
Suzie Budde at 762-2362 if you are interested. Our target date to
begin is January 2016. Please pray over this wonderful
opportunity and consider participating in this experience. Look
for more details to follow.

If you failed to bring your Offertory
Commitment pledge card this
weekend, we will be collecting them
in the weeks to come. Please bring
the card and turn it in. We will have extra cards that you
can fill out at the entrances. All of us are called to be
disciples of Jesus using our gifts to advance the Kingdom.
Let us pray that the people of Sacred Heart will respond
generously to the needs the parish.

Heart-To-Heart Giving Fund
Thanks to all who have contributed to the
Heart to Heart Annual Giving Fund so
far. There have been 114 families who
have made a contribution. This is a great
way to support capital needs and new
ministry initiatives in our parish. Why not join all the
parish members who have donated so far? Remember the
end of the year is fast approaching and your donation can be
deducted.
A Heartfelt Thanks You To All
We wish to send a special thank you to the following volunteers who were so instrumental in helping with the planning of
our Veterans Day Mass and Dinner.
 Sacred Heart Social Activity Committee
 Sacred Herat Boy Scout Troop
 Students who served our Veterans their Dinner who are from our
Homeschool Families
Religious Education Families
Seton School Families
 Those who participated in our Mass Celebration
 A Special Thanks to the 5th Grade Class of Mrs. Melin at Seton Catholic School for the beautiful “Thank You”

It was a wonderful celebration for those who have served and died for our county. Thank you to all!
Calling all Bakers!
It’s almost time for the
Sacred Heart
Annual
Cookie Walk
The Annual Cookie Walk will be coming on Dec.12th and we
need your help baking. We could use cookies, breads, candies
and traditional Belgian cookies. The more cookies we have the more successful the
event. This is the one fundraiser every year for the Social Activities Committee. The
money raised will help support the various social events throughout the year for the
entire parish.
So start going through your recipes and get ready to bake for the Annual Cookie
Walk on Dec. 12th. Drop off cookies at Culemans Fellowship Hall on Dec. 11th, 3 – 7pm.
Please bring your recipes to share.
Plus, save the date to join us at the Cookie Walk so you can pick up more cookies
for the Holidays.
