Dedicated to “Our Lady”, its campus located at 7655 West Dempster Street in Niles. Over 12,000 students have been educated since it’s founding in 1954. The name DONS was selected by the first principal, Rev. James d’Autremont. It is a Spanish word for “gentlemen” making Notre Dame Students the “Gentlemen of Mary”. Notre Dame currently has 800 male students representing 19 different faiths within their student body. Students come from 160 different elementary schools and live in 36 different communities.
