Beach bars in Singapore: The best places for a
drink by the coast
By Cherylene Chan
24 October 2014
Singapore has summer sun all year round (save for the monsoon showers), so it's only right
to make the most of the balmy weather and head to the beach as much as possible. Not a
fan of splashing in the surf and digging holes to the earth's core? Do not fear – there are
enough bars plonked right on the coast that offer sea breeze, ocean views and
splendiferous sunsets without getting sand in your shoes. Read on, friends! (Psst... thinking
of getting a cute new swimsuit to flaunt at these spots? Head here for our favourite
beachwear stores).
The closest thing to Bali's famous Potato Head
Beach Club in Singapore? We think so...
Tanjong Beach Club
120 Tanjong Beach Walk, Sentosa | 9750 5323
With cushy daybeds, an al fresco bar, big pool and indoor/outdoor dining areas, Tanjong
Beach Club is one of our favourite spots for a weekend laze - particularly because kids and
dogs are welcome along. Their all-day, seafood-heavy menu perks up tastebuds with
dishes like warm octopus salad, spicy prawn spaghetti and truffle fries topped with grated
parmesan. Aside from beer buckets, the bar keeps a decent list of champagne, wines,
spirits and cocktails. Sundays are especially worth swinging by, with local DJs spinning
laidback tropical house grooves. They also hold a rockin' Full Moon party thrice a year with
heaps of carnival-esque fun.

Coastes
50 Siloso Beach Walk, #01-06, Sentosa | 6631 8938
Part of Siloso Beach’s cluster of seaside hangouts on C-Side, the idyllic Coastes has
plenty of deck chairs and sunbeds to stretch out on. The cute, nautically-decorated bar
serves up a range of boozy beverages (we recommend the frozen cocktails), non-alcoholic
drinks and comforting grub like honey beef ribs, spicy wings, hot dogs and fish and chips.
Music loves might want to keep their ears pricked for Coaste’s beloved annual Jazz by the
Beach series, which runs for a selected month each time.
Get reacquainted with Bali's Bintang beer at
Bikini Bar
Bikini Bar
50 Siloso Beach Wak, #01-01, Sentosa | 6631 8938
Another of C-side's tenants, Bikini Bar is modelled after the lively Bintang bars in Bali, with
live sports matches screening all day and upbeat tunes by resident DJ Jason T on
weekends. Serving up a list of widely loved beers (including Bali's famous Bintang,
naturally), the bar also makes mean margaritas and shooters. If you feel peckish, their bar
bites feature all the usual greasy suspects like nachos, pizzas and calamari rings.
Mambo Beach Club
40 Siloso Beach Walk | 6276 6270
This ritzy bar, inspired by the Caribbean and Miami bars of the '50s, dishes out meals from
the grill, classic cocktails and cheery summer vacation vibes. Take a dip in their swimming
pool or lounge by the bar while listening to feel-good reggae tunes.
Fish tikka tacos at Myra's Beach Club
Myra's Beach Club
1390 East Coast Parkway | 6443 3005
Sitting along the far end of East Coast Park, this fuss-free bar offers delicious Mexican and
North Indian fare - think curries, nacho bowls and kebabs - as well as ice cold beers,
margaritas and sangrias. When you feel like catching some waves, rent a kayak from Water
Venture next door.
Belgian beers by the beach at Brussels Sprouts
Brussels Sprouts
# 01-27 Block F, Big Splash, 902 East Coast Parkway | 6346 4344
Nestled under the shade of East Coast Park's trees, this beachside bar and bistro boasts
an astonishing range of 180 Belgian beers as well as mussels in 21 different ways. Sit
yourself outside or within the huge glass walls to soak up that lovely sea view. Kids under
10 dine free from noon to 5pm on weekends, plus have a great play area, making this the
perfect spot for a family outing.
Surf or sit back with beers at Mana Mana

Mana Mana
1212 East Coast Parkway | 6339 8678
For active types, this low-key beach club is a restaurant, bar and a watersports venue
rolled into one, with all sorts of sports courses and equipment on offer. When you've had
your fill of fun out at sea, grab a seat at Sailor's Pavilion bistro for a range of Western and
Asian mains paired with bottled beers. Drop by on Saturdays from 6-10pm for a barbecue
buffet spread of seafood, meat, grilled veggies and free flow salad.
