CNC Robots Progress through Innovation W702 Sprue Picker For the removal of sprues and parts from an injection molding machine. The solid construction allows fast movements with low vibration for precise removal. W702 X-axis (kick stroke): -Heavy-duty linear rails and recirculating ball bearings. -Swivel base to rotate the arm behind the fixed platen for mold changes with locating pin to precisely reposition arm for part removal. Y-axis (vertical stroke): - Adjustable stroke 0-21,7“ (550 mm) or 27,6“ (700 mm). - Pneumatic shock absorbers. - Locking cylinder to prevent the arm from drifting down into the mold in the event of air pressure loss. - The Y-axis is also equipped with a heavy-duty switch as an additional interlock before the mold can close. - Energy chain for less wear of tubing. Z-axis (pivot): - Freely adjustable 45° – 95°. - Simple change-over from rear side to operator side placement. B-axis (90° tooling rotation): -Rotation is made automatically when pivoting the Z-arm out of the press. Perfect access for service Innovative 7 Series Robots W711 The robots W710, W711 and W713 are the perfect robots for smaller molding machines up to 150 tons locking force. These robots are designed with fixed kick stroke beam. The rugged, specially reinforced aluminum extrusion is directly attached to the main carriage. No parts sticking out towards the injection unit. Even on small molding machines there is no collision with the hopper. The rugged lightweight vertical arm is guided by high capacity linear bearings to allow fast movements with minimum vibrations. W711 High performance robots featuring servo motor drives for all three main axes. Minimum removal times of the molded part are essential for the highest productivity of the automation cell e.g. production of phone parts. The vertical arm of these robot models is a stiff but lightweight aluminum extrusion, driven by a servo motor via belt, thus reducing the movable weight. Option: Model S/D: The robot W711 can be equipped with double arm for the flexible automation of three-plate molds application. Model S: Additional vertical arm (Servo driven) with mechanical gripper for sprues. Model D: For stack mold automation. See description model W711D. All fully servo driven robots are programmed by using the graphical Robot Programming Teachbox CNC 6.2 or R7. W711S W713 With Telescopic – Vertical Arm Same basic design as W711 with 3 servo driven main axes. Vertical axis with telescopic stroke for low overall height. The perfect robot for smaller molding machines in production halls with low ceiling heights. Very compact design of telescopic arm providing small mold opening height and fast removal time. W713 The robots W711 and W713 fully meet the demanding requirements of state-of-the-art injection molding. W721 – W723 W721 All larger robots including the W721 models are designed with moveable kick stroke beam which is guided directly in the main carriage. The reduced moveable mass allows high acceleration and deceleration for extremely short cycle times. See description page 7. W721: The vertical arm is a rigid aluminum extrusion and guided in heavy-duty linear bearings. Driven by servomotor via belt to allow high speeds and short removal times. W721 UHS: Reinforced aluminum extrusion with 2 linear rails and powerful servo drive for highest accelerations and speeds. The top performance robot for the automation of thin wall injection molded parts for cycle times below 6 seconds. Configuration for reduced gripper and parts weight up to 5 kg (11 lbs). W723: Telescopic Vertical Axis: The gripper is arranged in front of the telescopic arm and allows a very short telescopic tube. For minimum overall height and fast movements. W731 – W732 The larger rugged main steel beam allows a wider distance between the main bearings and therefore longer kick-strokes up to 900 mm (reach 1.190 mm) and longer vertical strokes up to 1.600 mm. W731: Same vertical arm design as W721 but for vertical strokes up to 1.400mm. Due to the high operating speeds of the vertical arm and handling weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs), the W731 is one of our bestsellers for IMM up to 500 tons locking force. W732: The vertical arm is a rigid aluminum extrusion with two highload linear bearings and a maximum length of 1.600 mm. W733 – W743 With Telescopic Vertical Arm W733 Low overall height – double speed All larger robots starting from model W733C are equipped as standard with our patented telescopic vertical arm. The main vertical arm is driven via rack and pinion. A belt drives the front arm at double speed. Advantages: Minimum overall height of the robot. Double speed of the End-Of-Arm-Tooling and short in/out times. Long vertical strokes for palletizing. W733: Gripper and parts weight up to 15 kg (33 lbs). Vertical stroke up to 1.800 mm. For flexible automation on IMM up to approx. 750 tons locking force. W743: Larger, massive main beam and double walled kick-stroke extrusion allow handling weights up to 35 kg (77 lbs) and vertical strokes up to 2.600 mm. For palletizing on paletts located down on the shop floor. W753 – W773 With Telescopic – Vertical Arm W753 For large molding machines and handling weights from 50 kg (110 lbs) to 125 kg (275 lbs). The kick-stroke beam as well as the vertical telescopic arm are constructed of thin walled steel tubes to allow fast movement with minimum vibration. Option: Servo driven A- or B-axis wrists for secondary requirements. Especially larger robots are typically equipped with additional rotational axes and a variety of additional gripper and vacuum circuits for complex automations. Innovative 7-Series Robots Integrated Control Cabinet: Use of state-of-the-art compact servo modules integrated on the robot itself eliminates the need for an external control cabinet. The integrated control cabinet is mounted behind the horizontal axis for valuable space savings in the molding shop. Advantages: Short motor and encoder cables. Less cables and connections to fail. Highest reliability of robot operation. The integrated control cabinet allows electrical connection of external I/O-modules via a bus cable for the direct control of all attached peripheral equipment. Smart-Bus-Technology: All sensors and actuators on the robot are directly wired to the intelligent control card under the robot hood. The connection to the control cabinet and the Teach Pendant is a simple Bus-cable. Advantages: - Total flexibility in the production of injection molded parts. - Single point programming through robot Teachbox. - Safe investment with ability to exchange peripheral system at any time. The kick-stroke beam is a large aluminum extrusion providing a stiff, vibration free foundation for the vertical arm. The reduced moveable mass allows high acceleration and deceleration for extremely short cycle times. The bearings for horizontal stroke and kick stroke are positioned in the main carriage next to each other to provide optimum stiffness and minimum vibration for high speed operation, allowing precise insertion and removal. Option: A-axis wrists pneumatic 0 – 90° and/or 180°. Option: B-axis motor driven. 0 – 270° rotation for removal from fixed or alternatively movable platen side and for flexible placing of parts in different orientation. Programming through Teach Pendant. Option: Six degrees of freedom and motion control available with optional A-/ B- or C-axis wrists for secondary requirements. Powerful Servo drives for all 3 main Axes. Horizontal stroke (Z-stroke): All larger robots including the W721 model are driven in the Z-axis via rack and pinion with built in imbrications chamber for high speeds and long life operation. The rack and pinion drive guarantees precise positioning also with long strokes, avoiding the flexibility of long belts. Rugged steel beam is precision machined for perfect alignment of rails and rack. High capacity linear bearings on all main axes. The use of standard and well proven components guarantee maximum load ratings and easy availability. Reduced maintenance: As a standard the robots are equipped with linear bearings with lubrication chains. These are the latest technology bearings providing lubrication intervals up to one year! (Depending upon robot cycle and operating conditions). Standard C-axis: C-axis rotation for placing parts. Compact design for minimum mold opening. Pneumatically operated rack and pinion drive for high and constant torque during rotation. Side Entry Robots W7X5H Side Entry Robots are used mainly for removal of thin walled parts and cycle times shorter than 6 seconds. W7X5H: Horizontal side entry axis is driven by a Scaratype rotational movement. The gripper platen is synchronized for an extremely fast, servo driven in/out movement of the gripper. This system provides a very stable high speed operation with low vibration. Minimum floor space required on the molding machine. Vertical axis mechanically adjustable and pneumatically driven or motor driven. W723H: Horizontal telescopic axis and kick-stroke servo driven. The C-axis for the placing movement of the parts is directly attached to the telescopic carriage, providing minimum floor space next to the molding machine. Vertical position is mechanically adjustable or pneumatically driven e.g. for placing in a tray. W723H W727H: Special servo driven side entry axis for the automation of packaging parts and IML applications (Containers, Lids, etc.). Both vertical arms and kick strokes are servo driven and can be individually programmed by the R7 Teach Pendant. W746D: Robot with 2 servo driven vertical arms for the automation of stack molds on larger injection molding machines up to approx. 500 ton locking force. Fixed kick-stroke beam. Both vertical arms are telescopic arms (like W743 robot) with a payload of 25 kg (55 lbs) each. W743SO: Two robots mounted on one horizontal axis to share the work space in a time critical application or to use common palletizing area. Other examples are: Extra long horizontal axes for work areas on both sides of the injection molding machine. Robots can be delivered with an external control cabinet to connect extensive amounts of peripheral inputs and outputs. A further innovation by Wittmann! A very economical transponder, approx. 3,5 mm in diameter by 30 mm long, is placed on the gripper. It transmits an identification number. to the R7 control of the robot and automatically selects the right robot sequence. Preferably, the RFID tooling recognition is combined with a quick-change tooling system. Advantages: Eliminates errors by operators. Avoids damages of tools or downstream equipment. Flexible Teach-In Programming CNC 6.2 Easy-To-Use Graphic Interface All servo driven robots are supplied with the Wittmann CNC 6.2 robot control with color graphic screens. The operator simply traces out sequences on the screen and adjusts additional functions in an easy-to-use graphical environment to create – step by step – the final robot program. Advantages: Shortest training time for operators. Increased safety while programming. Teach In Programming using the text editor CNC 6.2 and R7 In addition, the operator can use the text programming mode for total flexibility in program teaching. This includes programming of peripheral programs for complex automation and secondary operations for complete automation cells. For case of programming, no codes are used, but clear and simple text messages are used. Also, peripheral inputs/outputs can be designated with text, thus creating a simple and clear program structure. R7 Touch Screen Control R7 Touch Screen Cutting Edge Control Technology As an option the robot W711C can be supplied with the R7 Touch Screen Pendant. This pendant can be simply plugged into the sub-pendant the same as for CNC 6.2. Advantages: By directly selecting the function on the R7 Touch Screen, the comfort and speed of programming is improved. The same program structure as CNC 6.2 is used to reduce training time for operators. Detachable Sub-pendant prevents program changes for increased safety and security. Smart media card storage of programs for faster setup and mold change. Easy-To-Use Graphic Interface Continuous Speed Settings 4 different colors for the programming modes: The control allows precise settings and adjustment of speed. red = Main screen blue = Text editor green = Graphic editor purple = Tool change mode Optimized movements up to 6 numerical axes. Individual or synchronized movement of speeds. Tool change mode Graphic editor User Friendly Tool Change Mode Both the CNC 6.2 and R7 allow the adjustment of position, speed, and waiting times during operation of the robot. Only the functions can be displayed which have been selected and which have to be readjusted when changing the tool: e.g. Removal position, Placing position Advantages: The robot cycle can be optimized during both the automatic cycle and molding cycle of the injection molding machine is not stopped.
