In 2012, the first-ever NBA
Cares Special Olympics Unified
Sports Basketball Game
took place at the 2012 NBA
All-Star weekend in Orlando,
Florida as a new tradition to
encourage fans everywhere
to support Special Olympics.
The NBA’s global partnership
with Special Olympics began
more than 30 years ago.
The NBA has since provided
support to Special Olympics in
various capacities, from local
basketball clinics to support by
NBA players, teams and more.
The NBA’s Basketball Without
Borders program has featured
international clinics for Special
Olympics athletes in such
places as China, Puerto Rico,
Russia, France, Greece, Italy,
Brazil, Spain, and Mexico.
