You Don’t Want to Miss This!
Chrysalis Edmonton Stocking Up For Annual Showcase
We say it every year and it always stands true
“You don’t want to miss this event”. The artists
in Edmonton are very excited to announce that
the 7th Annual Art Show and Sale presented by
Scotiabank will be taking place very soon!
Each year this event is arguably the most
anticipated evening on our calendar and this
show is no exception. Artists participating in
the Chrysalis Art Program are hard at work
building their portfolio and putting the final
touches on some unique artwork which will be
on display available for purchase. Proceeds from
the sale will help benefit both the artists and the
Chrysalis Art Program.
Chrysalis Edmonton, located at 13325 St. Albert
Trail, with doors open to the public from 6:009:00 pm.
If the previous few years are any indication, if
you are planning on attending this showcase we
suggest you arrive early to ensure you don’t miss
out on some of the pieces that will be purchased
shortly after the show begins. We will also bring
back our silent auction which will feature 5 or 6
premium pieces. The auction will run until doors
close at 9:00 pm with the hope that folks who are
not able to join us closer to doors opening will
still have a chance to take home a spectacular
piece. Even those who will not
be able to attend the show will
still be able to place bids through
our Facebook and Twitter pages.
This year, some 40 plus
artists will be showcased
throughout the night and
we will feature nearly 200

Partnership Profile
Doing it Right This Time (DIRTT)
We are happy to feature a long-term business
partner who has been making a major
difference in the lives of many individuals
accessing Chrysalis programming in Calgary,
DIRTT!
DIRTT is a distinguished and valued
employer by both the community and its
employees. The company is a true pioneer
in innovation when it comes to commercial
and residential design. DIRTT is a leading
edge environmentally friendly company
that builds modular’s and understands the
significant benefits of reducing waste through
the manufacturing and design process.
Chrysalis has had a strong working
relationship with DIRTT and its employees
for a number of years. DIRTT has
treated Chrysalis individuals with dignity,
compassion, and respect. Our individuals
receive a competitive wage and work in
a friendly environment that is barrier free
and fully integrated. DIRTT has been very
flexible with the Chrysalis individuals they
employ. They have taken the time to get to
know each employee to help customize the
assigned job responsibilities that bring out
the best in our individuals. DIRTT provides
financial security that enhances the daily
lives of our individuals, giving meaning,
purpose and future opportunities to advance
skills in the workplace. Chrysalis is thrilled
to have such an environment that brings out
the best in our individuals.
In 2014, Chrysalis presented the Business
Partnership Award to DIRTT at the Annual
Achievement Awards and Winter Solstice
event; they were the recipients in recognition
for providing an inclusive and accommodating
environment.
We look forward to a continuing to strengthen
our partnership with DIRTT for many years
to come!

Another Masterpiece!
We have detailed a couple of big time events quickly approaching in
Edmonton but don’t worry Calgary supporters, we are planning the
perfect kickoff to your summer!
The 5th Annual Art Show and Sale presented by Scotiabank will be
held on Friday, June 19 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Windsor Park
Community Hall, located at 5304 6 Street SW in Calgary.
Much like Edmonton, the artists in our Calgary studio have been
painting up a storm and creating some amazing pieces that will be
beautifully displayed and up for sale throughout the evening.
Many of the artists will be on hand to mingle with guests and showcase
their talents. A variety of canvas paintings, Plexiglas pieces and group
projects will make up the gallery for guests to peruse.
This event will also include a special sneak peek for donors, sponsors,
board members, volunteers and other Chrysalis supporters to allow
them the first look at the gallery space. Our way of saying thank you
for all they have done for our organization.
More details will be made available later in the spring as we get closer
to the event. Everyone is welcome so feel free to start telling your
friends and family to save the date!

CEO’s Address
Spring arrives at Chrysalis with a flurry of activity
dedicated to upcoming events such as the Art Show
in Edmonton (April 24th) and Calgary (June 19th),
and Edmonton’s Annual Gala Breakfast to be held on
May 26th.
Part of our preparation for the latter is the production
of a new video showcasing some of our individual’s
successes with employment and in their community
endeavours. So many ideas have been brought
forward by the staff team that it is challenging to
select and focus on only a few of their stories. New
employment opportunities have been opening up for
individuals in a variety of settings designed to meet
our individual’s special interests, talents, and skills
and match these to the right opportunity. Some of
the emerging opportunities are in the hospitality,
administrative, and industrial sector all of which are
providing rich learning and growth for the individual,
and positive and rewarding experiences for the
employers and their staff.
For several years, passengers waiting to take flight at the Edmonton
International Airport have been able to enjoy numerous displays of
artwork set up throughout the terminals to help enhance the passenger
experience.
Chrysalis in Edmonton and Calgary is committed to
working with employers and organizations to ensure
placements are working effectively and efficiently for
everyone involved and we are always available for
follow-up as may be required.
Chrysalis has been fortunate to have been on display for nearly
four years at EIA and we are thrilled to have signed another display
contract to continue to showcase
our talented artists!
So we are in the fortunate position of having so many
successes from which to choose only a few of the
great things that are happening for individuals served
by Chrysalis Edmonton and Calgary.
Our first display was highlighted in
the old US departures security area
before the extensive, and beautiful,
renovations of that terminal were
completed.
We then briefly moved into the
domestic departures terminal
before moving to our most recent and permanent space on the
observation deck.
At the moment, an arrangement of drawings and paintings from artist
Ann Methuen-Hall are prominently hanging near one of the main
meeting rooms for everyone to enjoy.
The best part of this location is that you do not need to have a ticket
or pass through security in order to view it. Anyone at the airport to
send off a loved one, or enjoy a coffee while watching planes take
off can view the gallery.
We would like to thank EIA for their continued support and urge you
all to check it out the next time you are there!
Should you, as a business or organization be interested
in learning more about the potential for working
with us to find the right volunteer or employee for
your work site please don’t hesitate to call us at
780.454.9656.
We would be pleased to meet with you and your team
to explore opportunities together.
Happy Easter!

2014 Calgary Winter Solstice
On December 11, 2014, Chrysalis Calgary hosted their 19th Annual Achievement Awards and Winter
Solstice at Fireworks Co-op. It was a packed house, standing room only, as family, friends, staff and
board members all gathered to share in the success of the hard working individuals accessing Calgary
services. The two-hour event was full of cheers, laughter, fun, entertainment and, of course, food!

New Corporate Videos Debut in 2015
Chrysalis is very excited to be working in conjunction with our friends at Lindisfarne Productions
to produce two new corporate videos showcasing the work of Chrysalis in our communities. Both
Edmonton and Calgary will have specific eight minute videos focusing on the supports Chrysalis
provides to the individuals whom we serve, the communities and businesses who have welcomed our
individuals with open arms and the individuals themselves who provide the real inspiration for the
work we do.
Shooting for the Edmonton video will be done in April and Calgary will be taped over the summer
months. The final version will debut at the city’s respective Spirit of Chrysalis Gala Breakfast this
year!
We will happily share the new videos after they debut should you not be able to attend the Gala.
