Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band MARCHING BAND INFORMATION SUMMER 2013 Notes from the Director Hey Band! DireDirector : I hope you are having a relaxing summer. We have been quite busy around here making sure we get off to a good start for this fall. Travel plans are coming together, clothes and equipment have been ordered and summer band is playing up a storm. Travel plans this fall will take pep bands to Duke (110), Miami (55), BYU (55) and Virginia (110), plus a full band trip to Clemson. Additional performances will be a high school band exhibition and the Surround Sound Concert – date TBD. For music this season we are going to continue revamping our stands music selections and learning two full half-time shows. The first show will be one we think the Georgia Tech community will love – “MATH”. The first movement is “Numbers” and feature songs with numbers in their titles. The second movement is “Shapes”. This will give us chance to present variety of songs and visual elements dealing with lines, circles, triangles, squares, etc… The final movement will be “Formulaes/ Calculus” exploring a variety of problems you may encounter in your studies. The second show of the season will be re-cycled show from the past – To Be Announced. In between those shows we’ll host another band day with over 2000 High School band students and welcome our Alumni back to campus for Homecoming. On the personnel front we are happy to welcome a new leadership team that we feel very confident will continue to provide excellent instruction and support for our program. In addition we are pleased that Matt Groves will be our new Percussion Caption Head. Matt brings a wealth of experience in his teaching and writing that is a great fit for us. Our web site www.georgiatechband.com is continually updated and is your best way of finding out new information and updates for the year. Should you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us. Have a great remainder of your summer – see you in August. GO JACKETS!
