Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band MARCHING BAND INFORMATION SUMMER 2012 Notes from the Director: Hey Band! I hope you are having a relaxing summer. We have been quite busy around here making sure we get off to a good start for this fall. Travel plans are coming together, clothes and equipment have been ordered and summer band is playing up a storm. A couple of big news items for this year are a full travel schedule and new 8 new Euphoniums. Travel plans this fall will take pep bands to VT (110), Maryland (55) and UNC (110), plus full band trips to Clemson and UGA. Additional performances will be a high school band exhibition and the Surround Sound Concert October 26th. For music this season we are going to continue revamping our stands music selections and learning two full half-time shows. The first show will be “Bach and Roll”. The show will feature mash-ups of Bach’s greatest hits and rock songs with the word “back(h)” in the title. For example, the opener is “Toccata and Fugue in AC/DC minor”. The other pieces will be rock treatments of Bach tunes. The second show of the season will be “A Day in the Life” featuring the music of the Beatles. In typical fashion, I will try to put as many of the Fab Four’s songs in the show as possible. In between those shows we’ll host another band day with over 2000 High School band students and welcome our Alumni back to campus for Homecoming. Our web site www.georgiatechband.com is continually updated and is your best way of finding out new information and updates for the year. Should you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us. Have a great remainder of your summer – see you in August. Chris Marching Band Wind Auditions Away Games and Travel The following is some tentative information about marching band trips for this football season. For those of you who are new to our band, pep band trips are those where we send a portion of the band to play in the stands at the game (instrumentalists only).
