Summer Camp
Kids’ and Teen College at the College
of Southern Maryland (CSM) is
celebrating 30 years of offering
comprehensive, summer enrichment
programs for children ages five to
14 years old.
Classes are offered at the college
campuses in Calvert, Charles, and
St. Mary’s counties. These half-day
or full-day programs allow kids and
teens to design their own summer
experience specific to their interests—
from art in the morning to academics
in the afternoon or a full day of sports
and swimming.
Summer days are well spent at CSM.
Let your child/teen come to the
campus and discover a new skill,
meet new friends, and explore the
world. The potential is unlimited.

IMPORTANT PARENT INFORMATION
Guidelines for a Great Time
Kids’ and Teen College wants your child to have fun and stay safe. Our trained staff will
supervise your child at all times. Please help your child enjoy our program by following
these guidelines.
Flexible Scheduling Makes
Life Easy
Lunch and Snacks
Register Early
A hot lunch option is available for your child at
the La Plata campus only. For more information,
contact Corazon Dones via FoodServices@csmd.
edu or call (301) 539-4715.
Kids’ and Teen College offers a scheduling
approach that provides working and stay-athome parents the flexibility they need and want.
Several options are available. Children who
attend different morning and afternoon classes
will be supervised during lunch.
Classes fill up fast so register early. In very rare
instances, we are forced to cancel classes up to
a week before the start date. Should this happen, we will make every attempt to place your
child in another class or offer you a full refund.
Please see page 51 for our convenient registration options. Registration will not occur unless
full payment is received and all five pages of the
registration form are complete.
Supervision
Children/Teens are supervised all day - during
breaks, lunches, changes of class, and class time.
Recommended Ages
To create an appropriate and stimulating
learning environment, recommended ages
will be adhered to.
If your child attends all day, you must supply
a lunch. Pack foods that do not require
refrigeration. You may send a beverage or your
child may purchase soda or fruit juice from a
vending machine. Summer staff will supervise
students during lunch. Students also have short
breaks throughout the day. You may send a
snack or money for vending machine treats.
Food Allergies
It is recommended that students with food
allergies bring all food from home. The College
of Southern Maryland will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods consumed,
or items one may be exposed to or come in contact with while eating on any college premises.
Student Conduct
Our policy requires disruptive students to be
removed from class. If necessary, we will call a
parent to pick up the child immediately. If we
ask you not to bring you child back to the class
because of disruptive or threatening behavior,
you will not receive a refund.
Before and After Care
Children, ages five to 14, enrolled in our courses,
can begin and/or end their day with Kids’ and
Teen College. Extended day hours are 7 - 9 a.m.
and 4 - 6 p.m. Students can play games, read
books, and participate in art activities. Spaces
are limited so register early.

Quality Instruction
Supplies
Unless specified in the course description,
children will be supplied with all necessary
materials to complete class projects.
Policy for Late Pick-up of Children
You must pick up your child when the class
ends. If your child is not picked up by 4:15 p.m.,
an emergency drop-in fee of $30 will be charged
until 6 p.m.; after that it will be an additional $1
per minute. This fee must be paid prior to your
child returning to camp. CSM reserves the right
to request your child be removed from class, if
parents are persistently late for pick up. If we
ask you not to bring you child back because you
are often late to pick up your child, you will not
receive a refund.
Kids’ and Teen College academic instructors
are accredited teachers recruited from the local
public and private schools or are college faculty.
For certain subjects and on rare occasions,
Kids’ and Teen College employs subject experts
with experience teaching children. All staff
members have successfully completed a thorough criminal background check.
Note for Students Requiring
Medication
If the student enrolling in a Kids’ and Teen
College course requires medication, prescribed
or otherwise, a medication/distribution form
must be signed by the child’s physician and be
on file with the Registrar’s Office. Medications
will be kept in a locked area unless they are of
the type to be carried with the child (i.e., bee
sting kit, etc.). Employees of CSM are not permitted to administer medications, and students
are expected to determine dosage themselves.
