VISION
CATALOG
W
ho are we?
S
hamir makes “progressive lenses”. No, these
aren’t tree-hugging, socially active lenses, but
in a way, they are “forward thinking”. The word
“progressive” means that each lens has multiple
vision zones that get “progressively” stronger
toward the area you need to see for reading.
You’ve seen bifocals, right? Well, Shamir lenses
have all the benefits of bifocals without those
unsightly lines that cut through the middle. These
aren’t your grandparent’s lenses!
W
e first had visions of taking over the world
in 1972, when Shamir Optical Industry, Ltd.
began designing top-of-the-line eyeglass lenses.
As a scientifically driven company (we’re talking
like ten Mr. Wizards here) our Research and
Development team is always at work, trying to
figure out how to make our current products even
better than they are. We’d show you a picture of
our R&D team, but no one really sees them much,
because they’re constantly working – can you say
“D-E-D-I-C-A-T-I-O-N”?
S
hamir is all about you! We don’t have just one
lens, we have seven (you could technically
wear a new pair of lenses every day of the week)
– each to fit your different needs. All our lenses
are designed with our super-secret, patented
software called EyePoint Technology® (you’ll read
more about it in the pages to come.) So, what are
you waiting for?

Freeform® Family
H
ere’s the 411 on our line of Freeform®
lenses. Freeform® lenses are designed to be
personalized to you. What does this mean? Here’s
the best example: most lenses are equivalent to
a suit you buy at a department store, it’s made
for everyone. Freeform® lenses are like a suit you
have made by a tailor, they’re made t0 fit you and
only you. For more details check out our three
Freeform® lenses.

O
ur standard lenses, aren’t really “standard”,
they are in a class all their own. They may
not be fully personalized to you, but because of
our manufacturing method, they provide you with
the crisp, clear vision that you need. We call
the manufacturing method Freeform Optics™, all
you need to know is that the finished product
has up to six times more resolution than the
other guys. What more can we say?
The OLA’s Best Lens Design award winning progressive
lens providing up to 40% flatter lenses with up to 20%
more base curves.
Specifically for vertically challenged (a.k.a. short)
fashion frames, this progressive lens provides a soft
design with a 16mm fitting height.
Designed for big fashion and wrap frames... there is now
a progressive lens companion for sunglass frames.
Created with the professional and hobbyist in mind,
this occupational lens provides optimal near and
intermediate vision from 1 to 13 feet.

et the light in
Have you noticed that your arms seem to have gotten shorter
lately? Maybe you aren’t able to hold those menus out any
further to see that tiny print. This actually happens to most
people around their early to mid 40’s (so breathe easy, you’re
not alone). We’d like to be the first to welcome you to the
wonderful world of presbyopia (prez’ bē-ō’pē-a)! Here is a brief
description of the unpreventable condition, along with a handy
diagram to help explain.
T
his is your eyeball
(yes,
we can see inside your head)
rom the time you were a little tyke up until now, your
F
crystalline lens (it’s inside your eyeball) would flex and
contract to help you focus on everything from your daily
paper to that tiny stock ticker on your TV screen.
Light
• Technical Side Note: Your crystalline lens
lets light in, directing it so it hits your
retina and allowing you to see clearly.
(pres•by•o•pi•a)
ell, as you’ve aged (and you’ve aged beautifully,
W
by the way) your crystalline lens has lost some of its
elasticity, inhibiting the light from traveling directly to
your retina and making it harder for you to focus on
objects up close (like this tiny print).
hat we (Shamir) have done is create lenses for you

S
hamir lenses...
good to the last point
Unlike other lenses your doctor may put you in, Shamir
lenses have that extra special ingredient that you can’t find
anywhere else. We use it for each of our lens designs. This
may be news to you, but yes, there is an actual design in
your lens.
With our secret ingredient, EyePoint Technology®, we are
able to simulate how your eye will see through the lens. You
may not realize it, but you don’t just look straight ahead, you
look at objects that are up, down, side-to-side and at multiple
angles. EyePoint Technology® ensures that every point you
look through on your lens delivers flawless vision like you had
when you were 20 years old!
We use EyePoint Technology®, so when you look through
the different areas of your lens, you don’t see distorted
images like you would with those other guy’s lenses.
Because of EyePoint Technology®, “The Design Inside,” all
of our lenses allow you to experience crisp, clear vision at
all angles. What a relief, a lens company that actually cares
about you, right down to the last point.
H
ow novel... a lens
designed just for you
Alright, you may want to sit down for what we’re going to tell
you next... are you sitting down? The lenses in your frames,
while they are technically yours, were most likely not made
for you. While we’d like to tell you this is just a cruel joke, we’d
never lie to you like that.
Just like a pair of shoes you buy from the store, your lenses
are made to fit everyone around your “size” (prescription); so
if you’re actually a size 9.25, you’re probably going to fit all of
the glory that is your foot into a size 9. This means you really
aren’t getting the best fit for your foot like you would if you
were to visit your local cordwainer (a.k.a. shoemaker) where
he could make a size 9.25 shoe for you. Now, that would fit
perfectly, right?
The same goes for lenses, and we think everyone deserves the
most personalized vision. We know it hasn’t been proven but
we wouldn’t want those “other guys” lenses to cause bunions
on your eyeballs! That’s why we’ve created Shamir Autograph II®.
When our R&D team designed the
Autograph II® lens, they loaded it
with lots of super-human power
(kind of like the Incredible Hulk
meets Mystique). In non-comic
book terms, what we’re trying
to say is Autograph II® is more
powerful than the average lens
because it shifts its design to
your needs. Where other lenses
require just your prescription,
Autograph II® takes into account
your prescription, your lifestyle
and your frame choice along with
measurements taken while you
wear the frames (we’d explain
more, but it’s a lot of technical
mumbo jumbo) – Autograph II®
is a pretty extraordinary lens. Ask
your doctor or optician how to
tailor an Autograph II® lens to
your eyes right now!
Autograph II® lenses are tailored to
your eyes like clothing is to your body

If you are primarily going to wear glasses at work, then
Autograph II® will be designed specifically for you to view the
area within your work environment clearly. If you’re an active
adult trekking the Norwegian Fjords and you gotta have
your wrap frames, Autograph II® will be designed to fit those
outdoor activities that you enjoy. It’s a nifty lens that you
can’t get anywhere else. So you might as well jump on the
bandwagon... you do want lenses that were actually made for
you, don’t you? Well, then demand Shamir Autograph II®.

Why Autograph II®

• The most personalized vision on earth

Enjoy the Full Spectrum™
of Your Vision
If you haven’t guessed it by now, we’re pretty proud of our
progressive lenses. Spectrum™ is the newest addition to the
family, and once again we have only good things to say.
With Spectrum™, our Mensa-like team of scientists figured out
a way to give you even more crisp vision in the reading and
intermediate viewing areas (perfect for selecting the right color
paint and applying the ideal stroke on your canvas). They’ve
also been able to increase stability in the distance! What’s
stability mean? Well, it has to do with diopters and levels
of clarity – trust us it’s a good thing. For you, it means even
more comfortable vision in the distance (this would be your
landscape).
Check out the diagram below to see exactly how our newest
semi-personalized lens, Spectrum™, provides you with even
wider areas of clarity.

on’t let the elements
hold you back
As consumers ourselves, we understand that sometimes
you need to sacrifice the nice things in life to survive, but
we don’t think that you should sacrifice your vision so your
8 year old can have a cell phone. With this in mind, we’ve
designed a progressive lens that offers you some of the same
benefits of Autograph II® but at a price that will make you
smile. Element™ is our semi-personalized lens that is more
customized than your standard progressive lens, just without
all the bells and whistles that you get with Autograph II®.
You can still enjoy vision personalized to your exact
prescription... no “average Joe” lens here. And because of
how Element™ is made, you’ll enjoy wider fields of vision
compared to a standard lens. This gives you more area of
comfortable viewing in your lens. It’s like looking through
a peephole. When you’re further away, you can’t really see
much, but once you put your eye right up to that little sucker
you see everything on the other side of the door. This is what
a wider field of vision does for you – opens up your viewing
area. Pretty neat, huh?
So, if you’re looking for a reasonably priced alternative to the
Autograph II®, we’ve got you covered with Shamir Element™.

ow did Creation
become so great?
®
Creation® is our “All Star Player.” In 2006 it was chosen (no, we
didn’t have our own contest) as the best lens design by the Optical
Laboratory Association – a top notch group in the optical industry.
Unlike the other guys lenses, Creation® lenses are thinner, have a
higher resolution (think your old black & white TV vs. HDTV) than
competing brands and are made utilizing the latest technologies
allowing you to see more comfortably than ever before. Have
you ever had those lenses that were a little blurry or gave you
headaches? The remedy isn’t aspirin, it’s Creation®!

E
njoy the shorter
things in life
Back in the day, people weren’t able to wear short (uh, we
mean vertically challenged) frames without compromising
their vision. That was until Shamir’s Mr. Wizard-like
research and development team created Piccolo®. Now,
you and your friends can wear those “contemporary”
frames you’ve always dreamed about. Did we mention that
“smaller is better” - Piccolo® has a wider reading area than
the competition, we’re talking up to 100% bigger, and yes
we do enjoy our bragging rights.
What exactly does this mean for you? We’ll keep it easy. You
can enjoy near perfect vision for reading, mid-range and
distance in the small frames that you like. So say goodbye
to those huge glasses that cover half your face. No need to
applaud... it’s our job.
So what’s so special about Piccolo®, and
why should you put them on your face?
• Great for small frames
• S

®
an Attitude
You can get anywhere in life with the right Attitude® (note: this is
our double-meaning selling tactic). If you’re one of those “active”
people or maybe even one of those “trendy” ones (it’s ok, we
won’t tell) you probably have a pair of wrap sunglasses – don’t
you? We’re betting that maybe you’d like to put your prescription
in those wraps to make you “see” as good as you “look.” Well
we’ve got the answer for you.
Shamir Attitude® progressives are made especially for wrap
sunglasses. Perfect for either big, trendy frames or short, athletic
frames, to give you that smooth, seamless vision you want. As the
first provider of progressive prescription wrap lenses (yeah, we
were the first) we design each Attitude® to ensure that you are
able to see clearly in your sunglasses, whether you’re looking up,
down or all around. Unfortunately, the “other guys” wrap lenses
will make you feel dizzy. This is because of something called
the “swim effect,” or “aberrations” (we know, big words). Added
bonus: your friends won’t be able to tell that you’re wearing
prescription sunglasses. Try pulling that off with bi-focals.
What
does
Attitude®
mean for you?
• A progressive Rx in sunglasses? You bet.
• No distortion = less dizziness

I
t’s time to be excited
about going to work
We’re going to get serious now... do your eyes feel tired, sore
or get red when you’re sitting at the computer? If so, you
may suffer from Computer Vision Syndrome (we tech savvy
people call it CVS). CVS affects 70% of computer users each
year. To battle this unspeakable eye-threatening syndrome,
we’ve designed a lens to fit computer users’ needs (this doesn’t
exclude other professions or part time thrill seekers, a.k.a.
hobbyists). Office™ was designed for small environments, or
any tasks performed anywhere from 1 to 13 feet (we’ll wait for
you to break out the measuring tape).
Hold on, we’ve got a real world example here: You’re at your
desk. You need to see your Sudoku, your Tetris game and your
doorway to make sure you see your boss when he walks in...
we’ve got the solution – Office™.
13ft
1ft
2.6ft
Why Office™ is the Lens Gladiator
in the Work Arena:
• Reading glasses: These are what your Uncle Lou
used to wear; they only let you see up to 16 inches
clearly. Unless you have a flexible 14 inch neck, you
probably won’t see your computer, because it’s
about 30 inches away.
• Bi-focals: These were created in the 1700’s –
remember Ben Franklin? They’re as old as him.
Bi-focals only offer you a reading zone (up to 16
inches) and a distance zone (plus, that unsightly line).
• Progressive lenses: These are created for three
vision zones, and you really only use two vision
zones at work. Progressives just don’t maximize the
intermediate zone like Office™ does.
• Office™: What more can we say? If you want up to
13 feet of superior clear vision for work, hobbies or
personal branding, get the Office™ today.
