Celebrating Success Letters from the Past & Present YPG Chair
Since its bold beginnings in 2003, the Sarasota YPG has been a hub for building a social network for
young professionals in Sarasota. Our organization continues to focus on grooming Sarasota’s Young Professionals as leaders in arts, business, government and philanthropic organizations. It has also been recognized as one of the best networking organizations in Sarasota. It’s time that we celebrate our success!
In 2011-2012, YPG has been successful in 3 key areas. (1) Communications; through social media, our
message has reached well over 5,000 young professionals. You have also told us just how important
YPG is to you and the community. (2) Membership; our engagement is now over 400 members, YPG
of which 80% have joined or renewed online and 25% are actively volunteering.
Frank Maggio
And we continue to offer successful events, including After Hours, Annual Conference, Golf Tournament, Luncheons, Open Board
Meetings and Personal/Professional Leadership Seminars. (3) Partnerships; our outreach is viral and cultural, as we have built creative
partnerships with several organizations, including Asolo Rep, Community Youth Development (CYD), Ringling Museum, Sarasota Film
Festival and The HuB to bring added benefits to YPG membership. Bottom line is that a $60 membership is worth over 10 times your
investment in the organization.
As a Florida native who graduated from Florida State University, I’ve had a rewarding career in banking since moving to Sarasota in
2001. Many also know me as an avid volunteer, which is why I joined YPG in 2004. Since then, I’ve been giving back to the organization and the community, which has given so much to me. Servant leadership has been my biggest success in life!
Over the last 4 years, it has been an honor to serve on the YPG Board with Sarasota’s most talented young professionals. It’s also extremely gratifying to witness the impact that this organization has had, helping ensure a strong future for our community.
letter from the chair, ypg board
As we prepare for YPG’s 10th Anniversary in 2013, I wish you all the best and continued success!

Sincerely,
Frank Maggio
Past Chair
Welcome to the 2012-13 Sarasota YPG term. It’s a wonderful honor to lead this group as the Chairman
during the next year, and I have the utmost confidence in the Board of Directors we have in place to
take this organization to the next level. Our first and most important goal is to keep the YPG Mission
at the heart of everything we do.
“To create a platform for our members to build relationships, develop professionally, become civically
and philanthropically active, and contribute to the economic development and high quality living of our
community.”
Sam Davidson
Our recent success has been dependent on this Mission, and we will continue to use it as a driving force to promote Sarasota as a
great place to live and work for young professionals. Sarasota YPG will continue to be the voice of the under-40 workforce, and we
will showcase our Members as today’s leaders that are positively impacting the
County in an economic, social, and philanthropic manner. This is an exciting time to be a young professional in Sarasota. The area
is exploding with new career opportunities, successful entrepreneurs, a thriving arts and culture scene, and a social calendar for every
personality. When all of these things come together, Sarasota becomes one of the best places in the world for young professionals
to live.

Our Young Professionals Are
Sarasota’s Tomorrow
6
For years, greater Sarasota had enjoyed the
benefits of being a leading destination community in Florida. Our successful combination of pristine beaches, brilliant weather
and culturally rich surrounding gives Sarasota County a reputation of being named
“paradise.” Today, as the community works together to stimulate
economic development, working to strengthen our assets and
expand and extract business, young professionals are ready to
meet the needs of employers who want to sustain a dynamic and
well-educated staff.
With the insight and energy of a dozen or so founding members
seven years ago, the “YPG” has grown to involve between 400 and
500 members. At least a half-dozen members participate at the
top leadership level of The Chamber’s structure by being members
of our Board of Directors. We are very proud of the contributions
these hundreds of young professionals have already made and
we invite you to help build this momentum by joining the YPG
or encouraging others to do so. Working together, we can better
secure a prosperous future for greater Sarasota – you are
Sarasota’s tomorrow.

The goal of the Sponsorship Committee is to secure financial sponsorships from local businesses that share the vision of YPG. Our

our sponsors in this Annual Program Guide every time you see them.
The Sponsorship Committee continues to build a sponsor and
database to ensure businesses wishing to reach the YPG have ample opportunity. The buying power and vision for a prosperous

a target for a large number of businesses in the area. We want to
provide the avenue for these businesses to reach the YPG.
