There can’t be good living where there is not good drinking

Throughout history, alcohol has been used socially for many diverse purposes,
such as calming feuds, giving courage in battle, sealing pacts, celebrating
festivals, seducing lovers, etc.
That’s history. For me, and for many like me, who enjoy a permanent love
affair with their ‘glass’, a drink is a nice way to relax. And, it’s definitely one of
the best ways to get to know people. It is also one of the best ways (and I am
sure many would agree) to patch up after a quarrel. People resort to drinks
for emboldened declarations, be it declarations of love or a raise in pay.
Trying to categorize Kathmandu’s bar scene is like attempting to summarize
the universe in a word. The city has a bar for every taste and most desires,
whether you’re looking for music, a romantic date spot, a throw-down party,
a gritty look at local life or a perfectly mixed craft cocktail.
It’s a pleasure to bring to you a collection of the city’s best watering holes.
The list may not be exhaustive but it should help when you’re trying to find
a good place to relax with family and/or friends. We hope that with our easyto-refer listings you’ll find the bar of your choice time and time again.

It gives me immense pleasure to announce that ECS Media is coming out with a bar booklet providing information on the available
bars in the capital city and the various services provided by them.
The booklet will serve as a roadmap providing information on all
the bars and on the plethora of flavored liquors and eye catching
cocktails. As the President of Restaurant and Bar Association of
Nepal (REBAN) I wish ECS the very best in their endeavor and
sincerely hope that the bar guide is a success.

15 ml Scotch whisky
10 ml brandy

orange juice
60 ml
Orange slice for garnish
PREPARATION
Pour the ingredients into a
cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well
Strain into a chilled cocktail
glass.
Garnish with an orange slice.

INGREDIENTS
15 ml Vodka

5 ml Spice
Spiced
Apple Juice
60 ml
5 ml Sugar Syrup
Cinnamon for garnish
PREPARATION
Add Vodka, rum, apple juice
and sugar syrup into a shaker
with ice.
Shake and strain into a
chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a half tsp of
cinnamon power.
Hawaiian
Colada
INGREDIENTS
45 ml White Rum

cream
of coconut
pineapple juice
60 ml
1 Tbsp vanilla ice cream
5 Cubes of ice
Pineapple chunk for garnish
PREPARATION
Pour the ingredients into a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Pour into a Collins glass.
Garnish with a chunk of pineapple
or maraschino cherry.
Cosmopolitan
INGREDIENTS
30 ml vodka
in
5 ml Coi
Cointreau
ffresh lime juice
5 ml
cranberry juice
60 ml
Orange peel for garnish
PREPARATION
Shake all the ingredients with
ice in a cocktail shaker.
Strain into a chilled cocktail
glass.
Garnish with an orange peel.
Optionally, use citron vodka in
place of unflavored vodka for
a fruitier taste.

Club soda
Fresh Lemon Slice for garnish
PREPARATION
Pour the gin and juices into a
collins glass filled with ice.
Stir.
