March 2016 - Trinity View
Volume 8, Issue 3 Our Mission: Empowered by Christ, we walk together with all we serve. Trinity View 2533 Hendersonville Road Arden, NC 28704 www.trinityview.net March 2016 During the month of February, Trinity View celebrated “heart” month through a variety of activities and events. To kick-off the month, Trinity View hosted a “National Wear Red Day” social, where residents wore red and were treated with special desserts provided by the dining services department. Residents were also given the chance to choose a homemade prayer shawl donated by Lutheran Services Carolinas. The prayer shawls were made by numerous women throughout the United States who are Residents Bill Ward, Joanna Hitt, and Joe Baker pose in front of Valentines’ Day ice sculpture. members of WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). The social concluded with a Valentine’s Day concert performed by traveling pianist David McClintock from Greensboro. Mr. McClintock provided chocolates and flowers for all the attendees to the concert. Valentine’s Day weekend was celebrated with a Red Heart Dance and Social with a local DJ. Residents also got an opportunity to experience a live art demonstration by local artist Jonas Gerard who did several paintings pertaining to the month of love. Trinity View residents also had the pleasure of attending a local theatre production entitled “Matters of Choice” which dealt with aging, loss, and dignity. To finish out February, Trinity View residents and guests were treated to a delightful meal from the dining services department, followed by a concert performed by our own Trinity View Singers and pianist Barbara Cronin with a special guest. To bring the day full circle, several young adults from Asheville Fellowship brought homemade Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dimenna enjoying the Valentines to all the residents. Red Heart Dance. Page 2 I was recently traveling in the Hendersonville area. I noticed the many apple orchards. As the spring time sunshine begins to warm the air, soon the apple buds will appear from their winter hiding place. As the sun grows warmer, the buds will break forth into blossoms. Soon the fruit will appear and grow ripe for harvest as summer passes and autumn arrives. As we move through the Lenten Season and into Holy Week, we will grieve the coldness of our Lord’s death on the Cross. But on Easter Sunday, the Son will rise to warm our hearts and our lives with the promise of God’s forgiveness, grace and love. As we embrace God’s Easter promises of new and eternal life, our hearts are warmed so that our lives will blossom and bear much good fruit for the world in which we live. A special Easter Service will be held in the Chapel on Easter Morning from 9:00 – 9:30 am.
