Large feeder capacity and automatic identification of the intelligent
feeders minimize changeover time. All tape feeders are electrically
driven and feeding pitch is programmable. Feeders are compact and of
light construction.
Easy to operate
The operating software Placer is the key to flexibility. The powerful
software is based on Windows8.1 with a graphical surface.
Time saving changeovers
The Pantera X-plus can be programmed o�-line or on-line. Bar codes on

Demands on a highly flexible
SMT production environment
Fast product changeover and small series
characterize modern SMT production. In
order to fulfill customer demands, a short
changeover time is the most important
feature. Therefore, large feeder capacity,
automatic feeder identification and a
simple user interface are important
characteristics of this high-flexible
placement machine. The variety of feeders
opens up a large application spectrum and
provides flexibility. Tape reels, single tape
segments, bars and pallets of various sizes
can be used for component feeding. The
combination of a placement system with a
dispenser saves costs and space for
additional machines. The Pantera X-plus
series features an ideal price/performance
ratio for SME (Small and Medium
Enterprises).

SMD placement machine with large
feeder capacity and offline programming
For a high-mix production, changeover time is the most important cost factor. The Pantera
X-plus concept reduces changeover time and costs to a minimum. Offline programming, in
combination with intelligent feeders and large feeder capacity, facilitate an economical
low-volume placement. All feeders for belts and bars are intelligent. Their positions in the
placement machine are recognized automatically. The feeders‘ status is shown in colours
on the screen.
The Pantera X-plus has capacity for more than 115 components. That‘s why many standard
components (e.g. resistors, capacitors) can permanently remain in the machine, only
specific components must then be updated. Offline programming allows for preparation of
subsequent orders without stopping the placement machine during production.

jobs can be prepared while the production is running.
The machine doesn‘t need to be stopped for any kind of
product changeover.

High speed and accuracy
The Pantera XV-plus is equipped with three optical systems, a laser alignment, a top-down
and a bottom-up vision. The combination of all these facilitates fast placement of discrete
components and precise placing of fine-pitch and BGA using one machine.
Top-down Vision
Locates fiducial marks automatically. It can
be used for teaching and controlling after
dispensing and placement.
Bottom-up Vision
Examines all expensive QFP and BGA
before placement (only Pantera XV-plus). It
measures all component connections
and tests dimensions and numbers.
Laser alignment
Laser alignment (Cyberoptics ©) fast and
precisely measures all components on
their way from feeder to placement
location (on-the-fly).

Easy operation and programming
with a clear interface
„Placer“ is the powerful user interface of the Pantera X-plus. All information is represented
graphically. Complex placement data is shown in an easily understandable way as a
virtual PCB. The universal PANX-CAD interface converts data from layout programs (CAD)
into placement files within seconds. The Pantera X-plus ships with an extensive
component library. Additional components can fast and easily be created using the
installed „wizard“. Program changes are possible with one mouse click. For instance
rotating, mirroring, moving and erasing of components. Multiple panels can be generated
out of a single PCB. The unique „virtual-view function“ allows test and correction of a
program without placing a component. With the software „Placer“ users always have
control over the machine‘s status, the feeders and the components.

FLEXIBILIT Y
Integrated dispenser for adhesives and solder paste
The Pantera X-plus can be ordered optionally with a screw or time-pressure dispensing
valve for metered adhesive spots or solder paste. The valve is mounted on the back of the
placement head.
For dispensing no additional programming is necessary. The coordinates of the adhesive or
solder paste points are stored in the component library. This combination, a placement
system with a dispensing system saves costs and space for additional equipment.
A wide range of feeding systems for various applications
A flexible production meets the needs of customers. Therefore, the Pantera X-plus is fully
configurable with regards to feeders and components. Free space, which is not occupied by
the PCB, belts or sticks can be used by pallets or rest-tape feeders. The software also
accepts customer specific designs as feeders. For all belts and sticks standard feeders are
available. Belts from 8 to 56 mm width can be processed. Components can be up to 15 mm
high. For pallets and tape segments universal feeders are available.
