WILL TRAVEL AROUND THE REGION TO PROMOTE THE HOPS FESTIVAL.
CHESTER – Richmond-based artist, muralist,
and writer Mickael Broth has received
international acclaim for his “dancing” Bernie
Sanders mural in Richmond. It was seen by
over 1.5 million viewers on Imgur in less than
a week and was shared widely through social
media. Last week he was onsite at Henricus
Historical Park donating his time and talents
painting on a much smaller canvas to support
the Henricus Children’s Education Fund.
Instead of brick or block for his large scale
murals, Broth was painting on wood. . The
artist used a replica of a 17th century church
door for his canvas, and worked for six hours
to create this one-of-a-kind hops masterpiece.
“I wanted to give back to my community, so
I’ll auction off this piece in November and
donate the proceeds to the education program
here at Henricus.” Broth said.
Broth was asked by the hosts of the
second annual Hops in the Park Harvest
Festival, Henricus Historical Park and
Chesterfield
Economic
Development,
to design a piece that will be used on all
marketing materials for the festival which is
to be held on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Event sponsor, Capital Ale House,
kicked-off the event last week as planning
started for the fall festival. The event will
be filled to the brim with live music, beer
tasting, food, a Mickael Broth art gallery,
and outstanding views of the James River.
With the ability to interact with interpreters
and learn what it was like to live on the banks
of the James River more than four centuries
ago, visitors will immerse themselves in
the history of Virginia beer, hops farming,
operating a farm brewery and so much more.
