PEMDA SUMBAR OPPORTUNITIES y Contribution of fishery’s sector had not yet significant to National Fishery Development comparing with huge fishery potentiality in Western Part of Indian Ocean. y Strategic position and adequate infrastructure support of West Sumatra as the base of tuna’s landing and export activities from Indian Ocean PEMDA SUMBAR POLICIES; y Speech of President in Nusantara Days Dec 18, 2006 , announced that West Sumatra Province as The Centre of Tuna’s Landing in Western Part of Indonesia y President’s decree No.28/2008 re‐National Industry Policy, stated that Tuna’s Industry is the prime development industry in West Sumatra y Governor’s decree No.523.5/608.DKP.5/2009 dated March 1st 2009 re‐formation of Task Force for Development of Tuna’s Centre for Western Part of Indonesia. y Agreement on IMT‐GT Meeting in Phuket 2008 that assigned West Sumatra as investment destination region for Tuna Fish capture and industries. PEMDA SUMBAR GOALS & OBJECTIVES GOALS; y To support local and foreign investor to conduct landing, processing and exporting of tuna from West Sumatra y To Increase exploitation of tuna fishery potency of West Sumatra for the development of national and local economics OBJECTIVES; y Constructing of sound cooperation scheme of Intergovernmental and also Private sector for the landing, processing, and exporting of tuna fishery products from West Sumatra. y Improving benefit value of tuna fishery potency of West Sumatra to National and Province economics development PEMDA SUMBAR COASTAL LINE: 2.420 KM (ADDED WITH MENTAWAI ISLAND COASTAL LINE) AND THE WIDTH OF TERITORIAL SEA AND EEZ IS ABOUT 186.580 KM2. Potency of tuna fish is big enough (124.630 ton/year, production level just 22.100 ton) • FG – Bungus; 250 miles; 20 hrs; 175 ltr fuel Fishing Ground is relative near with Bungus Fishing Port. • FG – Phuket; 1800 miles; 140 hrs; 1300 ltr • FG –route, Padang – Jakarta –Singapore – M.B, Jakarta; 930 miles;70 hrs; 665 ltr PPS Bungus is safe for ship landed, located at bay, and free from floods/Rob 4. Near with International Airport (+ 30 Km). 5. There is available area for fish processing and docking industry 6. Government support 7. Bungus Fishing Port have industrial area for the width of 76.500 m2 and just exploited for the width of 14.615,5 m2 and also still is available off farm for the development of new industry for the width of 61.884,5 m2. 12.
