Although Heather paints several types of subject matter, she prefers figurative work because of her appreciation for human anatomy Gary completed his first bronze sculpture in 1987 and became a full time sculptor about 6 years later. He has numerous life size or larger pieces in public and private collections throughout the country. All of these pieces depict the human figure and many of them depict historical figures or are memorials honoring people who have made important contributions to our society. and gesture. Lean Into the Light, 24” x 20” oil on birch Daniel Augenstein G R E E LE Y, COLORA DO When Farm Dogs Dream..., 9”h bronze Most recently Gary has branched off with some whimsical sculptures depicting dogs driving classic automobiles. Silly? Maybe. But whose day isn’t brightened when they see a dog riding in a car with it’s head out the window thoroughly enjoying it’s surroundings? And who doesn’t doubt that if a dog could drive a car it would in a heartbeat? (And classic cars are certainly an art form in themselves…it only seemed natural to combine the two.) 4 As a four year-old, I found that licking the tip of the red color pencil made a more intense red as I drew my tree! I remember the adults chuckling as they noticed I had smeared the pigment all over my face. This love of nature and intense color still seems to drive me artistically after all of these years. My joy in color has grown to include the nuance of tones and near-complements that echo the infinite colors around me. I have found that my brushes and pencils create Lupines in Early Morning, 24” x 36” oil the same endless variety of marks just as the world surrounding me displays an endless variety of life. I find whimsical lines of energy in my paintings begin to imitate the energy that I sense around me. I have fallen in love with my brush! My subject matter and media reflect my thirty-some years of sharing a wide range of artistic adventures with my students in public school and college. Every new medium still represents another possible right answer to some yet unanswered query and another journey to some adventure. I am moved by drawing and painting landscapes, human figures, and portraits. People are provocative in all of their wide range of conditions. Landscapes with architectural elements are a challenge as they speak of human-kind creating in a created world. Making art is my passion. 2015 G o v e r n o r ’ s A r t S h o w Mark Bailey Julie Bender Mark Bailey was born in 1982 into a family of art appreciators who encouraged creativity. He began to draw at a young age and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree of fine art (BFA) from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Bailey’s paintings record his diverse Emerge, 36” x 24” oil surroundings in an abstracted, painterly fashion, from people he meets to ordinary things he sees around him. His cityscapes and urban interiors reproduce the glow and bustle of city life, while his portraits might suggest a compelling story behind every face. – Liz Greenfield, ArtistADay.com Mark Bailey is a member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America and a Loveland native, and former Rotary Club scholarship winner (TVHS 2001). Residing in Loveland, Colorado, Julie Bender’s passion for pyrography is matched by her accurate and artful portrayal of her animal subjects. The western natural world is her source of continued inspiration. She frequents Colorado’s high country for inspiration in pursuit of observing and gathering reference for her art. She is constantly keyed into that rare moment when animals display a particular look or behavior that makes her heart race – and excites her to get started on a new work. LOV E L A N D, CO LO RA D O W I NDS OR, COLO RAD O Carolyn Barlock D ENVER, CO LO RAD O Denver native Carolyn Barlock first experimented with secret techniques of porcelain decoration which fascinated ancient alchemists. Mastering enameled art, she continued her scholarly journey of ancient porcelain techniques culminating in her use of 22 Karat Florentine Gold and ancient Persian Lusters dating from 9th Century Baghdad. These resplendent pieces of timeless beauty and exquisite form are fired from twenty to sixty or more times at intense heat. Her singular development as a porcelain artist was integrating chiseling techniques which give her one-of-a-kind pieces a special blend of innovation and classicism. Carolyn has been an annual participant of Loveland, Colorado’s Sculpture in the Park since 1997, and she is featured in Southwest Art’s Sculpture of the Rockies. She also has won two Gold Medals at the 2012 International Porcelain Artists Show for her work and is proud to have been featured in the April 2014 Robb Report Collection Magazine which highlights the benefits of living a life with refined tastes that still hold on to the golden joys of youth. Rainbow, 10.5”h one of a kind chiseled porcelain 2015 Governor’s Art Show Rallying the Troops, 15” x 21” pyrography on paper Described in traditional terms, pyrography is the art of drawing with fire using a heated metal tip to burn images on a natural surface. Though she burned on wood for years, Bender now prefers heavyweight watercolor paper as her surface, as it presents challenges and results that push her outside her comfort zone. Due to its monochrome nature, pyrography is all about subtleties of sepia tones and value applied with various degrees of heat. Executing her tones with accuracy and creativity becomes her ultimate goal in producing a unique and imaginative work of art. Bender is an award-winning Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists and member of the International Guild of Realism. 5 Marty Brens PUE BLO, COLORA DO At The Headwaters, 20’’ x 40’’ oil/linen James Biggers ESTES PARK, COLO RAD O James Biggers is never satisfied painting the same subject in the same way. He forced himself to learn and see more while constantly searching for inspirations and techniques to give his paintings essence. “I was a kid who stayed in at recess to work on my drawings.” James was starting to learn the skills that would be the journey of his life. James was thrilled with the opportunity to paint in a select group of artists with Richard Schmid as their mentor for five years. “Richard helped me grow, not just as a painter but as an artist.” I will always be thankful for this opportunity. Biggers discovered, “At some point you have to put something of yourself into your work, without this element, you will never have a great painting. Technique is what attracts people to your painting, heart is what keeps them there.” The best way to capture the heart of a subject is to paint from life and to continually search for new subject matter. Travel has fed this desire. James’ travels include Costa Rica, Hawaii, Mexico, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and France. James wants more than a breathtaking scene to paint, his goal is to portray the essence of the emotion. He strives to give his paintings depth so that the viewer can go beyond what initially drew them into the work of art. “When someone comes to me and tells me that they have had one of my paintings for years and they can still feel the emotions of it, then I know I have succeeded as an artist.” 6 “I feel fortunate that I have been able to build my career in the arts. I have spent most of my adult life surrounded by artists and fine art.” In her twenties Marty worked in the advertising design field, creating logos and ads for businesses and individuals. In her late twenties she began to incorporate her design experience into a larger format, painting graphic designs on walls in the private sector. “During this time period I was always painting pictures mostly in watercolor and acrylic, my girls were young, and I thought of it more as a hobby.” In the mid- eighties she decided to get into the business of Art and opened her first Gallery in LoDo in downtown Denver. “I learned the ropes as I went along, it was an incredible learning experience. I met great artists and learned the business of marketing.” Since then Brens owned and operated the Upper Edge Gallery in Snowmass Village and Aspen, and currently runs Art in Blue Rocks, 36x 24 oil the Aspens Workshops. “My focus has changed and I just want to paint, painting is an endless and amazing journey, an artist is constantly in a growth pattern, nothing could be more exciting!” Amelia Caruso F ORT CO L L I N S , CO LO RA D O Amelia Caruso makes changing your viewing perspective paramount in her work. Amelia was born in Cincinnati in 1962 and stayed in the area until 1996 when she moved to Colorado. Amelia attended the Arts Academy of Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati. Marlene has paintings in private collections throughout the United States. Her painting of the Broadmoor Hotel hangs in the CEO’s office on the first floor of the hotel. In 2014 she was commissioned to paint a scene of Denver that will be a part of Exempla Lutheran’s art collection and it will hang in the new Children’s Hospital in downtown Denver which opened in December of 2014. 2015 G o v e r n o r ’ s A r t S h o w Jared Hankins E N G LE WOOD, COLORA DO Sotto Voce-a low soft voice, 18” x 24” oil Don Hamilton CASTL E ROCK, COLO RAD O As a child Don loved to draw and would often bring his drawings to his grandfather, an artist and master stone cutter, to be critiqued. Later Don studied privately with Joe Brand, a respected wildlife artist and instructor at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, focusing exclusively on wildlife. Don’s desire to work from life and vary his subject matter led him to branch out into other areas and most importantly, begin painting outside, “en plein air.” Don continued his education with outdoor workshops from a number of noted painters. Don has exhibited at the Small Works Great Wonders Show at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum-Oklahoma, Western Masters Show-Montana, Salon International-Texas, CM Russell Auction-Montana, Mountain Oyster Club-Arizona, National Exhibition, Oil Painters of America and previous Colorado Governor’s Invitational Art Shows. Don continues to travel throughout Colorado and the west, painting and sharing his personal vision. 2015 Governor’s Art Show Throughout the past 17 years, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of disciplines in the fine art field. I have painted in styles ranging from realism in oils to large color-field abstracts finished in resin. I have been commissioned to create site-specific art for hotels and businesses around the world and have illustrated new products for dozens of Fortune 500 companies. This understanding of both media and application has come together in my most recent work with a style that is current while pushing forward. I paint by tightening, loosening, and re-tightIdle, 30” x 30” oil ening of the subject. The results are representational images built through color fields, blurring the boundaries between the real and the abstract. Collections include: City of Loveland, Four Seasons Hotels, Ritz Carlton Hotels, Fountainebleau Hotel, Terranea Resort, Curtis Hotel, Exempla St. Joseph’s Hospital, Craig Hospital, JW Marriott Hotels, Viceroy Hotels, Jackson National Life Insurance, MarkWest Energy. Marc R. Hanson H YG I E N E , CO LO RA D O Having grown up in a military family, Marc’s youth was spent on the move. He was born in Oxnard, California and spent some of his early school years there. After his father’s retirement from the Air Force, Marc’s family settled in the small northern California community of Loomis. Marc began college as a biology major, but soon applied to and was accepted into Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Along the Path, 30” x 40” oil on canvas majoring in illustration. After Art Center and a brief stint as a staff illustrator in Sacramento, California, Marc moved to Minnesota where he lived for 33 years while raising a family and pursuing his art. Marc relocated to Colorado in the Fall of 2012. “I have pursued a career as a painter for many years now. Along the way my methods, materials and focus have evolved. A naturalist at heart, the landscape is the perfect vehicle for expressing the joy I have for the world that surrounds me. My real interest and challenge as a painter is how to best manipulate the core principles of painting into effective visual statements. I’m most successful when I’m able to communicate that joy to the viewers of my paintings.” 9 Stephanie Hartshorn DE N VE R , COLORA DO Though her college start was focused on Chemistry, after a year and a half of engineering school, Stephanie knew she needed to change course. Transferring schools, she ultimately found fulfillment in Architecture: Work that engaged her “inner geek” alongside her developing creative direction. Her education led to a decade of work in Architecture with projects in educational design and historic preservation. Stephanie took her first painting class in 2006, followed by a transformative workshop in Abiquiu, New Mexico. By the time she packed up her brushes to return home, it was clear her connection to the canvas was gaining momentum. She sought more time to paint in between her career and young family and, in 2009, stepped away from design to paint full time. A fourth generation Colorado Native, Stephanie lives in Denver with her husband and two daughters. In 1995 she moved to Colorado Springs where she finds endless inspiration in all that surrounds her. Her landscape paintings express the joy, wonder and hope she feels in nature through a distinct style all her own. One feels the energy in each brushstroke as her paintings convey the forces and serenity in nature. “Up close my paintings take on an abstract quality. Energized brush strokes of bold color amongst grayed hues splashed over the surface. As you back away all is revealed. The bold strokes become a creek bed, vast canyons or local landscapes. Distance creates a clear perspective. You see the beauty in all the moments. The strokes like life blend together, the good, the bad and the ugly, creating this beautiful existence we call life.” Darlis Lamb E N GL EWOOD, COLO RAD O Darlis was born in Wausa, Nebraska, primarily raised in Omaha, coming to Colorado in 1975 when her husband was transferred here to work on the Eisenhower Tunnel. Her work is exhibited across the country. 2015 Governor’s Art Show Martin Lambuth DE NV E R , CO LO RA D O A Trip Down Memory Lane, 60” x 48” acrylic Martin’s paintings are about more than the subject matter of vintage trucks and trains. It’s about nostalgia. Although lost in time or forgotten in the weeds, they can still take you on a ride to Grandpa’s farm, bumping down a country road in Dad’s pickup, or riding the rail through the past. Painted with credit cards, Martin’s unique style reads with a sense of realism at a distance but up close you see the abstraction of loose textures buried in layers of rich color. His style lends itself to the weather-influenced finishes created by exposure, rust and oxidation. An award-winning artist, Martin has been juried into local, regional and national shows. His work is in the permanent collection of the Cheyenne Depot Museum, The Children’s Hospital in Denver and Parker, as well as being selected as the anchor piece for the Kaiser Permanente medical center in Castle Rock. He was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the 2014 Art in the Square in Southlake, Texas for his vintage trucks. 11 Jeff Legg E ST E S PA R K , COLORA DO Patchwork, 13”h ceramic on metal & wood base Amy Laugesen ENGL EWOOD, CO LO RAD O “The Horse, familiar in form, nature and spirit offers powerful inspiration for my ceramic and mixed media sculptures.” Amy Laugesen received her BFA from the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University in 1995. Mr. Legg resides in the Colorado Rockies where he paints daily in his studio. Mark Leichliter F OR T COLLI NS , CO LO RA D O Portal‚ 15”h stainless steel I was born in Loveland, Colorado and now reside in nearby Fort Collins. The natural beauty of this region was instrumental in my aesthetic development. The language of the land and its features has guided me toward sculpture as my means of artistic expression. I discovered my love of art in high school, having been exposed to advanced creative concepts through a self-developed independent study program. I grew up surrounded by construction tools and forms as my father, uncle, and grandfather built custom homes throughout Northern Colorado. This upbringing influenced my understanding of building and the value of craftsmanship. I spent a few years working for my dad’s company, learning how to read blueprints and use the various tools of the trade. However, my dad encouraged me to seek other ways of making a living rather than following him into building saying, “Work with your brain, not with your back”. For the past twelve years, I have specialized in large-scale public works that include collaborations with architects, landscape architects, engineers, designers and a host of city planners and officials. 2015 G o v e r n o r ’ s A r t S h o w Karol Mack F OR T M OR G A N , COLORA DO North Clear Creek Falls Runoff, 30” x 40” oil Tom Lockhart CA NON CI TY, COLO RAD O Colorado native Tom Lockhart was raised in the small alpine valley town of Monte Vista. Tom is a representational landscape artist. Tom feels that solid drawing, correct values and colors, along with the atmospheric effects of light within the landscape, are some of the keys to a visually stimulating and interesting image. Painting from life, (En-Plein-Air as often as possible), helps to reinforce these visual stimulants when it comes to painting the landscape. Tom has been featured in several national art magazines including: Southwest Art, Art of the West and American Artist’s Watercolor Magazines. Tom has been selected to many national Plein-Air Events and Juried Art Salon Exhibitions as well as prominent National Juried Shows. Tom is a multi-award winning artist, which include Colorado Watercolor Society National Show, Southwest Art Magazine Artist Choice, as well as two time winner for Region III in The National Arts for the Parks. He holds Signature Membership in the (NWR) Northwest Rendezvous of Art, (OPA) Oil Painters of America, (CWS) Colorado Watercolor Society, (OPS) Outdoor Painters Society. 2015 Governor’s Art Show Karol Mack is widely recognized as one of the foremost interpreters of the Western landscape. Her oil paintings evoke the essence and beauty of the natural world as only a master of painting can do. She finds her creativity in the rugged natural settings of the Western United States. His sense of adventure took him on a 19 months exploration in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii and hitch-hiking across Canada. It wasn’t until David moved to Turin, Italy working for Fiat Auto that the advent of digital photography first caught his eye. In 2003 David decided to bail out of the 9 to 5 environment and delve head first into photography, taking on studies in photography at the College of DuPage near Chicago where he also joined forces with their meteorology program. David has seen some unique and beautiful sights including the largest ever recorded tornado (2.6 miles wide in El Reno Oklahoma May 2013) and even putting himself in precarious situations! Now based in Colorado by the foothills of the Rocky Mountains David is ideally located for heading East out to tornado alley or West to explore the mountains or the landscapes of the Southwest. The draw of the night skies offers up great opportunities for creativity that have enabled David to expand his work into new realms. David strives to continue making new and remarkable images of Skyscapes and hopes to explore more on an international level. 14 Not having experienced art for many years, I absorbed myself in academia and athletics. I taught Biology at SMU, Mathematics and Biology at Mary Institute, played competitive golf, and lived in Europe, but in my mid-fifties, a chance touching of clay turned my world around! As one might guess, with these varied experiences, my sculptures became eclectic, surprising both viewer and myself. Normali has had a passion for painting since the age of six, which she expresses today with rich colors and dramatic lighting. Moving to Estes Park, Colorado almost forty years ago, she continues to draw inspiration for living high among the Rocky Mountains. Ms. Normali graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and studied art at Aims Community College, Art Students League of Denver and attended the Loveland Fine Arts Academy. Dawn has studied with some of Colorado’s finest artists and her works have won numerous awards and are in a world-wide-collection. Dawn captures a mood, and emotion with the bold Sunburst on the Meadow, 12” x 12” oil strokes of her brush in a style which has been described as “expressionistic”. Preferring oil painting in the plein aire style, Dawn continues to express in her paintings the light, beauty and rich color of the land and people of Colorado, Mexico, the American Southwest and Europe. Jon Paul Price PA RKER, COLO RAD O Jon Paul Price is originally from Matador, Texas, and currently resides in Colorado. His background includes work as a surgical practitioner and educator, and nonprofit healthcare executive director. His earlier works are paintings created in the 16th century Flemish style. Currently, his time is spent creating sculptures inspired by “retro-futuristic” Victorian era fictional steam-powered machines operated by a common post-apocalyptic figure. The sculptures are made from metal, clay, glass, leather, and wood. Wikipedia defines Steampunk as a “sub-genre of science Captain fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, Percival especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western Clankingstone, 32”h mixed civilization during the 19th century. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative media history of the 19th century’s British Victorian era or American “Wild West” in a postapocalyptic future during which steam power has regained mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.” I found myself drawn first to the works of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, then Victorian era science fiction movies. I began to notice Steampunk art, and decided to abandon painting for sculpting these Steampunk figures. I know I’ll be doing this for as long as I live. 2015 Governor’s Art Show Prince of the Valley, 24” x 30” oil Nancy Rynes L A FAY E T T E , CO LO RA D O Nancy Rynes was born and raised in rural Illinois and moved to Colorado in 1992. From an early age her parents had taken the family west during the summers to camp, fish, and hike in the Four Corners states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona. Being outdoors among the canyons, deserts, rivers, and Native cultures of the American Southwest as a child continues to have a lasting influence on her work. Nancy studied fine art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and later went on to obtain degrees in Geology and Archaeology at Northern Illinois University and the University of Colorado. After moving to Colorado, she pursued her love of art and learned oil painting under noted artists Ralph Oberg, Dan Young, Matt Smith, and Chris Alvarez. Learning the rigors of outdoor painting from these artists greatly influenced her use of bold brushwork, color, and light/shadow in her own paintings. Nancy still paints from life when possible – she believes it’s an exercise that keeps her tuned in to the colors and patterns of light as it really exists outdoors, not simply in how a camera captures it. Nancy has been honored with several one-person shows, as well as awards in juried competitions. 15 Wayne Salge JOH N STOW N , COLORA DO Onward, 23”h bronze Although a native Texan, Wayne Salge has been a resident of Colorado since 1970 and his current home and studio are located in northeastern Colorado to be near quality foundry services. Mature Ram, 40” x 30” acrylic on canvas Ezra Tucker Michael Wilcox Ezra has spent many years pursuing his intense interest in nature and wildlife conservation. His approach to capturing his subjects is to reveal a rarely highlighted detail, an incident or fact can be a big dramatic scene or a subtle relaxed blink. Ezra’s bold and distinctive style of drawing and painting in layers reflects an acute observation and knowledge of his subject and displays an intimate and emotional portrait quality and adept storytelling. Ezra finds the art of modern wildlife artist Bob Kuhn as well as classical wildlife artist, Carl Rungius, and other artist such as Antoine Barye, Arthur Wardle, Edwin Landseer and Wilhelm Kuhnert inspirational and their art has influenced his style. His unique creative style and traditional perspective gives his subjects a fresh old world appeal. His original art has been commissioned and also included in many private and Fortune 500 corporate collections. Ezra is a member of the Society of Animal Artist. Michael Wilcox enjoyed a lengthy career in the photographic industry beginning as a manger in a retail camera store and finishing his career as an associate director and division manager for Pentax Corporation. In 2008 he began his second career as a fine art photographer. The majority of Michael’s photographic efforts center on an appreciation of the uncommon beauty of common scenes. He is attracted to the Red Barn in Spring Snow, 13” x 19” photography graceful curve of the seating of the Foote Lagoon Amphitheater or the simplicity of a gathering storm over a ripening wheat field. Michael’s photographs have been published in USA Today and he has won multiple national awards from the Photographic Society of America. Her work is strongly influenced by her early experiences on her family’s Wyoming cattle ranch and her life in Colorado. Witherspoon combines her observations and experiences with realism and glazing techniques of the Dutch Masters. Among her awards are: Award of Excellence, Society of Animal Artists; Founder’s Award, American Academy of Equine Art; Best in Oils & Acrylic, Cheyenne Frontier Museum; The Migratory Water Fowl Award, Art For The Parks. She lives in Littleton, owns her studio with classroom in Englewood, is married to Tom Ayers, Jr., and has four married children. 20 The West has played an important role in grounding Lora Witt’s perspective. Raised in Colorado by a family deep in artistic merit, Witt has combined her educational experiences from Colorado State University, University of Denver, and The Art Students League of Denver to provide the skill set and unique vision she brings to her paintings. An enduring interest in Western botany and geography has been a consistent theme in Witt’s body of work. Understanding the science behind our natural world has presented a truer picture of the artist’s intent and has provided the foundation for Witt’s urban naturalist style. Like a Pathless Wood, 24” x 36” oil Sherrie York SA LI DA , COLORA DO Sherrie York credits her interest in nature to a college field trip in which she was challenged to sketch strutting, squabbling backyard chickens. “It was exciting and infuriating,” she laughs. “I loved capturing that experience on paper!” Since that afternoon Sherrie has worked as a painter and printmaker of natural history subjects, as well as a designer and illustrator of nature-focused educational materials. Her work has been included in national and international exhibitions, as well as several books and museum collections. Treasured Path, 12” x 18” reduction linocut About her process Sherrie says, “As a linocut printmaker I am essentially self-taught. I focus on relief prints because I can (and do) produce them by hand without a press. Typically I begin complex prints with only a vague plan. There is risk and tension working this way, since my reduction process destroys more of the print block at each step, but I think best when my tools are moving. 2015 G o v e r n o r ’ s A r t S h o w Gene Youngmann W ESTMI NSTE R, CO LO RAD O Gene Youngmann has been painting watercolors for over thirty-three years in Colorado. He retired after teaching art for thirty years in Jefferson County Public Schools at the end of May 2003. Twenty-five years of that time he taught drawing at Golden High School. He is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado with a Master of Arts in Drawing. Out of Work, 14.5” x 21.5” watercolor Youngmann is a plein air painter, painting 90 percent of his work on location during the warmer months and participates in plein air events yearly. His paintings are regularly displayed in International, National, Regional and Local exhibitions. His paintings are included in many private and corporate art collections, most recently the Colorado School of Mines President’s Office in Golden, CO. Youngmann’s subject of choice is Colorado landscapes, vintage automobiles and aging architecture. He is best known for the under painting glow of his paintings, his use of purple shadows and his whimsical drawings. Ron Zito D ENVER, COLO RAD O In my work in contemporary realism I try to capture the meaning of the Latin phrase, finitum capax infiniti, “the finite is capable of the infinite,” which means that there is no access to the infinite except through the finite. It is an apt description of how I feel about our connection to the material world. Presently, my quest is to try to capture this in two dimensional form, and the technique of glazing in oil paint seems to suit the subject matter and my temperament. This slow layering of color seems to correspond to the patina of living that inexorably descends upon a particular place. Glazing is a painting method that allows me time for careful thought and Breaking Through, 36” x 48” oil introspection. I have taken a circuitous route to art. I grew up around artistic uncles, aunts, and cousins in the New York/New Jersey area. Traveling out west to Flagstaff, Arizona I majored in commercial art, but soon switched to the study of english and history. With the gentle persistence of my wife I finally found my way back to drawing and painting after a fifteen-year hiatus.
