Replacing the fan on a Mellerware Biltong King unit
This is an extremely easy process but if you don’t feel confident then you can return the lid to us
by post and we will fit the new fan for you and return. We carry direct replacement Heavy Duty
fans in stock and these are available for £14.99 incl. Postage and Packaging.
What you will need: Long thin screwdriver, Biltong King Lid and a cup of tea!
Very Importantly, before you start make sure that the unit is unplugged!
Circled in Red are the plastic clips that
hold the light fitting and fan in place.
These will need to be pushed out from
the inside using a thin screwdriver.
Circled in Red is a view of
the inside and the holes
where you can insert the
screwdriver and push out
the plastic clips.
Insert the Screwdriver into each of the openings and push the plastic clips out through the top. Do
not lose or break them! The 4 thinner smaller ones are for the fan and the 2 slightly bigger ones
hold the Light Fitting.
A view of 1 of the clips holding in the
light fitting. It has a tiny X – push in
the centre of the clip to push out
A view from the outside of the clips that have been
pushed out. Once all 6 have been pushed out like
this it will release both that fan and the light fitting
The fan now released…
Once the fan is free and the light fitting is loose, turn over the light fitting and you will see 2 brass
screws holding in the power lead and fan wires. Undo slightly and pull out fan wires. The faulty fan
can now be put to one side out of the way…
The two black wires from the old
fan need to be taken out and the
new fans wires put in.
New fan now wired in…you can turn
light fitting over and put over
plastic clips and push in from the
outside again to secure into place
By now, you will have your new fans wires screwed in and the light fitting secured back down by
pushing the plastic clips back in from the top. Turn any excess wire around the outside of new fan
as you slot it back into place.
A Point to remember here is that the fan should blow into the box and out the bottom vents. If not
turn the fan over (Each fan is marked with direction of airflow…make sure that’s pointing into the
box)
Ensure you push the plastic clips
back into place from the outside to
secure the new fan.
And that should be it. Make sure your fan and light fitting are securely held back in place (if not
you have not housed it properly over the plastic pins) Plug the unit in and test!
