36th ANNUAL BOSTON (GA) MINI-MARATHON AND FESTIVAL
October 30, 31 and November 1, 2015
Boston, GA Fall is a time of harvest and celebration and Boston is planning a real
celebration for the 36th Annual Boston (GA) Mini-Marathon and Festival! Now three
days of activities, this premier south Georgia festival will be held October 30 and 31
and November 1. Since festival day is also Hallowe’en, there will be lots of ghosts and
goblins amidst the fall colors, pumpkins, hay bales and colorful banners!
Participants in the cook off event, Best Barbecue Butt in Boston, all competitors,
new and experienced, are invited to compete. Categories are butts, ribs and best
overall. Cash prizes are awarded. For more detail and registration forms, check the

community center, or city hall.

Mammogram prices wildly inconsistent in Atlanta
Costs of mammograms in the Atlanta area can vary enormously — with some more than
5 times as expensive as others — a differential that’s among the widest in the United
States. The prices of mammograms in metro Atlanta range from $89 to $488, according
to Castlight Health, a company that helps businesses analyze health care prices.

opposition to the placement of a monument to Martin Luther King Jr. on Stone
Mountain. Neither side wants its legacy associated with the other. A note arrived this
morning with news that SCLC and the Atlanta and DeKalb chapters of the NAACP
have a 3 p.m. Wednesday the 14th of October, sit-down with Gov. Nathan Deal.

When in doubt,

change things.
Almost nothing is evenly distributed.
Some people seek out new technology in an area they are
focused on... others fear new technology.
Some people can dunk a basketball; others will never be
athletic enough to do so.
Some people are willing to put in the effort to be great at
something, most people, by definition, are mediocre.
We’re puzzled when we see uneven acceptance or uneven
performance, because it’s easy to imagine that any group of
people is homogeneous. But they’re not.
And the distribution of behaviors and traits is usually
predictable. Most people are in the middle, but there are plenty
of outliers.
Treat different people differently. Not because they’re born this
way, but because they choose to be this way.

It was his first day in art class. Mark was determined to
draw a portrait of Jesus. He began one drawing and then
another. After trying time and time again, he decided to
place his pallet and brushes on his stool and in defeat
walked away from his canvas.
Noticing his despair, his teacher walked to him and asked,
“Mark, what is your difficulty?”
“It’s no use,” he said. “I was determined to draw a picture of
Jesus. But it’s useless!”
“Why?” asked his teacher.
“Because I cannot make Him beautiful enough,” he said.
Mark echoed the words of the Psalmist: “You are the most
excellent of men!”
Years ago someone wrote, “All other men who were
recognized as great have been made to look insignificant
by what Jesus did in His brief lifetime. All others who were
considered wise appear inadequate in their expression
of truth when compared to Him. All others who labor to
bring healing to the sick cannot match His miracles. All
others who attempt to do good for mankind cannot match
His deeds of compassion and expressions of concern
for the weak and lonely. Those who appear to be perfect
eventually show their flaws. There is only One who has
ever walked on this planet who deserves the title: ‘You are
the most excellent of men.’”
“God has blessed you forever,” continued the Psalmist.
What wonderful words of comfort and encouragement for
the Christian. In Him there is no possibility of His leaving
us or forsaking us. The eternal blessings of God have been
passed on to us through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord
forever.
