[email protected] VYO Pushti Preeti Newslet4er Message from the VYO International Board Bhagvad Smaran to All, With the grace of ShriNathji Prabhu and divine aashirwad from Pujya Jeje, Shri Vrajrajkumarji Mahodayshri, VYO is growing with leaps and bounds worldwide. VYO is becoming nimmit for such an extraordinary work of Pushti Bhakti Marg throughout the World. VYO India has successfully organized 4 international Vaishnav Conventions in Gujarat to celebrate 500 years of Shrimad Vitthalesh Shri Gusaiji Prabhucharan. Thousands of devoted Vaishnavs took alaukik aanand of these auspicious events which included high level State and National leaders. There was a huge event in January, called “Run for Cows” in Vadodara, Gujarat in which more than 30,000 people participated to bring awareness about protections for Cows. There are several schools who are participating in VYO Education courses for kids age 6 to 16 and VYO E team has successfully completed several “Train the Teachers” seminars with huge success. VYO is also actively involved in poor kids’ education by taking care of the tuition fees up to 12th Grade and VYO AnnaKshetra Yojna in which VYO donates food/grocery to needy families locally With Shri Thakorji’s Krupa, KSW (Krishna Sanskar World) land has been purchased and VYO is planning for “ Khat Muhurt” on January 28, 2017, at Rajkot on a grand scale in presence of dignitaries from throughout the world to celebrate this milestone. Along with social, educational and community services VYO is very active in establishing Pushti Pranalika Havelis for the seva and sukh of Shri Thakorji. VYO USA is progressing well with Pujya Jeje Shri’s guidance and blessings. Most of the 21 centers have now incorporated “Prabhu Padhramni Satsang” in their centers to take alaukik laabh of Shri Thakorji’s Padhramni at Vaishnav’s home during satsang. With Thakorjis’s Krupa VYO USA’s Havelis, VYO E programs and other events are organized throughout the country to preserve and cherish our rich Hindu traditions and culture. VYO Is becoming nimmit for this karya including hosting Shri Kajalben Oza’s inspirational talks throughout the country to bring much needed awareness of care and protection of Cows. Our ladila Pujya Jeje Shri’s Spiritual tour of USA will commence on July 13 for 2 months to soak all Vaishnavs with divine alaukik aanand. VYO USA can’t wait to welcome Jeje Shri in our homes and in our hearts! VYO UK successfully organized 3 Kathas of Pujya Jeje Shri this year along with the divine Prayag Tirth Kalash Mahotsav. Aapshri narrated ShriNath Charitramrut Katha in Leister and Manchester and all Vaishnavs were soaked in ati aanand of this divine events. VYO Kisumu-Kenya have successfully established Shri Govardhan Nathji Haveli last year and Vaishnavs are taking ati aanand of Shri Thakorji’s seva and darshan. With Pujya Jeje Shri’s aashirwad and guidance VYO and Pushti Bhakti are spreading worldwide. VYO international board is working tirelessly to establish and spread VYO worldwide in several other countries and continents! Pujya Jeje Shri is tirelessly doing Prithvi Parikrama to bring scattered Vaishnavs to the lotus feet of Shri Thakorji. Jeje Shri is showering all Vaishnavs with divya vachanamruts and mangal vani all over the world and in true sense Pushtimarg is being rejuvenated with new and innovative ideas to spread this Krupa Marg. Summer 2016 Comments/Qs: [email protected] VYO International Board !2 VYO Pushti Preeti Newslet4er VYO activities from different centers around the world VYO-India With Shri Thakorji’s Krupa and Pujya Jeje Shri’s blessing, VYO India organized many events throughout the region that includes establishment of new VYO centers along with various Prerna Sabhas for one of the most startling projects, ‘Krishna Sanskar World’. The Prerna Sabhas were organized at many places, including remote locations, and were led by Pujya Jeje Shri to bring awareness amongst the youth and elderly. Enthralling Holi Rasiya were organized by various VYO centers that had a huge number of Vaishnavs participating from all over the region. Shri Vallabhacharyaji Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav was celebrated on a grand scale by VYO Padra in presence of Jeje Shri that attracted Vaishnavs in large number. Establishment of HPT/VYO Arina fountain in Rajkot is one of the historic moments in India in which, HPT Pvt. Ltd and VYO came together with a Philanthropic initiative to serve Cool and Hygienic Drinking Water to the citizens of Rajkot. Moreover, VYOE conducted ‘Train the trainer’ sessions to further VYOE efforts in India and take the initiative to next level. Volume 3. Issue 4. Summer 2016 Comments/Qs: [email protected] !3 VYO Pushti Preeti Newslet4er VYO-UK VYO UK had a mesmerizing experience with Pujya Jeje Shri’s spiritual tour which was filled with many inspiring events such as Shrinath Charitramrut Katha for the first time in Leicester and Manchester followed by Shri Krishna Leela Katha in London. Bharat Prayag Tirth Kalash Mahotsav also took place for the first time in London. Other highlights were a special Yuva Shibir for the children and youth in Leicester. and a visit to House of Lords in London. The House of Lords visit was a historical moment in which, Jeje Shri became the very first Sanatan Hindu Dharma / Vaishnav Sampraday Acharya to address young professionals in English. Thousands of Vaishnavs participated in these spiritual events and benefited by Pujya Jeje Shri’s presence in the UK. Volume 3. Issue 4. VYO Boston celebrated Shri Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav, Akshay Tritya, and Shri Narsinh Jayanti utsavs with more than 300 Vaishnavs. Sundar Shobha Yatra was organized for Shri Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav. Boston haveli is looking forward to celebrate Nav manorath, Rath Yatra, and Hindola to provide divine labh of Pushtimarg utsav celebration to all Vaishnavs. VYO Cherry Hill is feeling very blessed to start new centre with the grace of P.P. Goswami 108 Shri Vrajrajkumarji Mahodayshri. First Prabhu Padhramni satsang was celebrated with Shri Yamunaji's Mahotsav at Shri Pragnesh bhai Shah's residence on April 8th, 2016. During second Prabhu Padhramni satsang at Talati’s residence, Shri Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav was enthusiastically celebrated and all Bhgvadiya Vaishnavs took divine labh of Pujya Jeje Shri’s sundar Vachanamrut. Recent Prabhu Padhramni satsang was enjoyed at residence of Mr. Choksi. Vaishnavs also enjoyed the Mahaprasad after the satsang. VYO Detroit celebrated Shri Mahaprabhuji Pragatya Mahotsav at Dipika ben and Parimal bhai’s residence. More than 100 Vaishnavs participated in Shobha Yatra and utsav celebration. Sixteen VYOE kids gave brief speech on Shodash Granth - One granth by each of them. Most of them spoke in pure Gujarati language. Detroit is very proud of VYOE kids!! VYOE Detroit continues with lots of excitement and interest from all kids. All the VYO Detroit Vaishnavs are very excited and eagerly waiting for Shri Krishna Charitramrut Katha that is going to be narrated by our beloved Pujya Jeje Shri. VYO Freehold completed 2 successful years of Spiritual meet and VYOE for kids. Our first Prabhu Padhramni took place in the month of June 2016 which was also the end of VYOE year. The centre completed bridge level course. Kids took great effort in writing an essay on VYO and their learning in the past year. Both VYOE and dedicated Vaishnavs of Freehold are spreading Pujya Jeje Shri’s message of "Serving Happiness through Spirituality" and also looking forward to Pujya Jeje Shri's visit this summer. VYO New York continues their monthly satsang to spread happiness and spirituality amongst the Vaishnavs. We celebrated various utsavs during our satsang and learned about their importance. The centre’s Vaishnavs are very enthusiastic about the Prabhu Padhramni concept and eager to incorporate in their monthly spiritual meet. With Thakorji’s prerna and Jeje Shri’s blessing, the committee members of VYO New York thought of an outdoor satsang to adorn Shri Prabhu Padhramni swaroop, and to experience the vachnamrut and satsang performed by our Gurus in the olden ages. The team worked with great synergy to create this divine experience, and suffice it to say, it was truly blissful! Starting from the location, to the weather, to all the support from fellow Vaishnavs of all ages and manorathis, everything turned out perfect with the grace of god. We had the opportunity to welcome Shri Thakorji’s swaroop along with Shri Mahaprabhuji’s Bethakji with a ShobhaYatra where the Vaishnavs and the passerbys were mesmerized with kirtans and dhod pads! After the Shobha Yatra and nitya paath, we experienced our Jeje Shri’s vachnamrut by playing it on a computer with a loud speaker so all Vaishnavs could hear him. The satsang gave us a divine feeling as if we were listening to a live vachnamrut, much like when Shri Mahaprabhuji carried out satsangs under a tree. The manorathi had arranged delightful prasadi for all. We all departed feeling joy full and experiencing paramanand. Volume 3. Issue 4. VYO Raleigh organized two Prabhu Padhramni events with increasing attendance of dear Vaishnavs. The host family with the help of the committee members gave discourse, and provided Priti Bhojan. Students of VYOE Raleigh organized Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav with support of other Vaishnavs. The event was very well organized. About 200 Vaishnavs enjoyed one hour stage program showcasing drama, dance, speech and kirtans followed by delicious Mahaprasad. VYOE Raleigh organized graduation ceremony for VYOE students in presence of town Mayor Mr. Mark Stohlman and Pro tem Mayor Mr. Steve Rao. The chief guests presented graduation certificates to the students. Children enjoyed getting their pictures taken with Mayor. Students were given couple minutes to express their view on VYOE education classes. Everyone was positive. One 7 year student said "Can I come to VYOE classes every day instead of going to school?" Parents had a very positive input. All current students will be continuing VYOE. About 15 students are expected for next school year. VYO Richmond continued with spiritual meets every second Saturday of the month and organized Shri Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav. Large number of Vaishnavs participated in the Utsav. It was great divine experience for all the Vaishnavs. This time we had organized Pushtimarg Quiz which was really nice learning experience with fun. Ms. Nimisha Parikh did a great job in organizing the quiz and conducting it. We have started Prabhu Padhramni in full fledge and Vaishnavs are anxiously waiting for their turn for Prabhu Padhramni. VYO Richmond is spreading the message of Pujya Jeje Shri "Serving Happiness through Spirituality”. Volume 3. Issue 4. Summer 2016 Comments/Qs: [email protected] !7 VYO Pushti Preeti Newslet4er VYO San Diego celebrated Shri Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav on May 14, 2016, and most recently, completed the third year of VYO-E with a picnic satsang on Jun 12, 2016. VYO San Diego’s Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav brought together 300 Vaishnavs. With beautiful kirtans and bhajans sung with bhav, the biggest informational activity was that of the 84 Bethakji’s. With the help of VYOE’s level four kids, gave an explanation of Mahaprabhuji’s three Parikramas and the 84 Bethakji’s in which he elocuted the Bhagwat. Shobha Yatra with kalashes was also enjoyed by all Vaishnavs as they took divine labh of carrying Mahaprabhuji swaroop throughout the Yatra. June month satsang was our first ever picnic Satsang. Vaishnavs enjoyed having bhajans and paath outdoors. Each kid had a chance to ask two questions from the education classes to his/her parents. It turned out that kids knew more about Hinduism than the parents. The kids and adult separately played musical chairs. VYO-E kids were awarded their certificates for the school year, bringing the third year of VYO-E to a close. VYOE classes have concluded for the year and will resume again in September. San Diego is in full swing preparations for Pujya Jeje Shri’s spiritual visit from August 6 to 9. The entire city has been waiting a long time for his return and all are looking forward to his spiritual discourse. VYO Savannah celebrated Nav manorath and Shri Mahaprabhuji Pragatyotsav at homes of bhagvadiya vaishnavs. First Prabhu Padhramni satsang was enjoyed by all vaishnavs with divine labh of chanting nitya niyam paths,,kesar snan of padukaji, palana, shobhayatra, kids spiritual speech on Shri Mahaprabhuji’s pragatya and imporant life events. Goswami 108 Shri Darshankumarji Mahoydayshri. Vaishnavs took divine labh of Pujya Jeje. On May 15, 2016 – Shri Mahaprabhuji’s Pragatyotsav was celebrated in the presence of P. P. Goswami 108 Shri Kunjeshkumarji Mahodayshri. VYOE Tampa also continues to have regular biweekly VYO-Education classes for kids. Summer 2016 Comments/Qs: [email protected] !1 2 VYO Pushti Preeti Newslet4er Rath Yatra in Pushtimarg Rath Yatra celebration in Pushtimarg was initiated by Shri Gusainji. Once, Shri Gusainji went to a Rath Yatra celebration of Shri Jagannathji. On this day, Prabhu told Shri Gusainji to perform the same manorath in Pushtimarg. Rath Yatra is celebrated on the auspicious day of Ashad Sud beej (2) in Pushya nakshatra. On this day, Thakorji is seated in a Rath (chariot) by Shri Yashodaji and the Rath is taken to every Vrajvasi’s residence to fullfill their manoraths. Rath Yatra is a Parvanik Utsav. It means this utsav is based on Vedic festivals on Nakshatras – Parva. Balbhav Lilla vs Kishore Lilla In Pushtimarg, we assume the bhava of Shri Yasodaji, who made bal Shri Krishna sit in a Rath for the first time. As Shri Krishna is a balak, Yasodaji did not strap the horses to the Rath because she thought that Balak Krishna would get frighten with the horses. Instead, all vraj bhakts took turns to pull the Rath. In front of the Rath, the bal vraj bhakts holds flags, banners, umbrellas. This is called Balbhav Lilla. When the horses are connected to Rath it is known as Kishore Lilla. In this bhav, Shri Thakorji sits with Swaminiji in the Rath which is surrounded by sakhi gopis. The Rath Yatra utsav is not celebrated in Nathadwara, Shri Nathji. It is believed that this utsava is “chal” (active and flowing) bhava and Shri Nathji is “sthir” (still) bhava. So Shri Gusainji decided not to celebrate the Rath Yatra in Shri Nathji. Also, on this day, Shri Mahaprabhuji did “Aasurvyamohleela”, means aapshri left the material body. So keeping this in mind, Thakorji wears white vastra (clothes) on this day and in the evening the umbrella (kharsal) is removed from the Rath. Volume 3. Issue 4. Summer 2016 Chariot (Rath) It is believed that when Nandbaba made the first chariot for Lalan, he insisted that the chariot should be of light material since it was being pulled by Krishna’s sakhas. The design of the chariot was made just like the one of Shri Jagannathji. The chariot was of four wheels (since the Rath was light) compared to Shri Jagannathji Rath which has sixteen wheels. Shri Baldevji’s Rath has tweleve wheels and Shri Subhadraji’s Rath has eight wheels. Bhav Bhavna: This utsav is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The divine bhav behind this celebration is the one of ‘Vrajpati’. Meaning, Shri Thakorji visits personally each and every Vrajbhaktas to fulfill their manorathas. Vrajbhaktas are broadly categorized in four groups: 1. Satvik 2. Rajasik 3. Tamasik 4. Nirguna Considering the bhav of these four groups, four bhogs are offered to Shri Thakorji: 1. First Darshan: Shri Thakorji starts visit from Nandalaya 2. Second Darshan: Shri Thakorji halts at the places of Vrajanganas 3. Third Darshan: Shri Thakorji meets Shri Vrusbhan nandini at Barsana 4. Fourth Darshan: Shri Thakorji visits Nikunjas and returns back to Nandalaya. Comments/Qs: [email protected] !1 3 VYO Pushti Preeti Newslet4er Siri Mahaprabhuji: Swaroop Darshan Pragatya (Emergence): In Telangana state (currently Andhra Pradesh) of South India, on the banks of holy river Krishna near Vyom Stambh mountain in a village Kankarwaad, lived Shri Yagyanarayan Bhatt. He was a learned Brahmin and resident of Kankarwaad, who performed Somyagnas as part of his ancestral ritual. Once, towards the end (samaapti) of one such Yagna, the Lord appeared and granted a boon, “Upon completion of 100 SomYagnas by your descendants, I shall incarnate in your line of heritage”. Having said thus, the Lord disappeared. Shri Yagyanarayan Bhatt performed 32 SomYagnas; Shri Gangadhar Bhatt (son of Shri Yagyanarayan) performed 28; Shri Ganpati Bhatt (son of Shri Gangadhar) performed 30; Shri Vallabh Bhatt (son of Shri Ganpati) performed 5 and Shri Laxman Bhatt (son of Shri Vallabh) performed 5, thereby completing 100 SomYagnas. On the auspicious day of VS 1535, Chaitra Sud 11, Shrimad Vallabhacharyaji – Shri Mahaprabhuji appeared in the center of a circle of fire in Champaranya as “Vaishvaanar”. Swaroop: “Vastutahh Krushna Aeva” meaning Shri MahaPrabhuji is Sanyogatmak and Rasatmak Divine Swaroop of Sakshaat Purna Purushottam Shri Krishna and Shri Swaminiji. Four Questions: Once while Aapshri was attending a religious forum in Jagannathpuri conducted by the then King, four questions were debated by highly learned Brahmins. 1. Premier (main) Scripture? 2. Premier (main) God? 3. Premier (main) Mantra? 4. Premier (main) role or duty of Life? Not being able to reach an acceptable answer even after a prolonged debate, Aapshri’s suggestion that Bhagwan Jagdish be asked to intervene and answer above questions was accepted by all in unison. A blank paper and pen were offered to Bhagwan Jagdish behind closed doors of the temple. Upon opening the doors, the following Shlok was found inscribed on the piece of paper: “EKAM SHASTRAM DEVKI-PUTRA-GIT-MEKO DEVO DEVKI-PUTRA EVA | MANTRO-PYEKAM TASYA NAAMAANI YAANI KARMAA-PYEKAM TASYA DEVASYA SEVA ||” Meaning: Shrimad Bhagvad Gita sung by Shri Krishna, son of Devki is Premier Scripture; Shri Krishna, Himself is Premier God; Ashtakshar MahaMantra is Premier Mantra and Shri Krishna’s Seva (service) is Premier Duty of soul in human life. Aapshri is the founder of Pushtimarg – Path of Divine Grace, establishing the philosophy of “SHUDDHADVAITA” (pure non-dualism) in light of Brahmasutra, Shrimad Bhagvat, Vedas and Bhagvad Gita. Shri MadanMohanji appeared during the Soma Yagna performed by Shri Mahaprabhuji’s great great great grandfather Yajnannarayan Bhattji. The leela form of Shri MadanMohanji is the several types of leelas he creates. He plays the flute for his Vraj bhaktas, appears before them and arouses their Krishna consciousness. Shri Gusainji states that when Vaishnavs take darshan of Nidhi Swaroops, one must think of all the related bhavas corresponding to each swaroop. Shri Harirayji further states that both Shri Krishna’s seva and darshan should be conducted with full bhava. In Pushtimarg, Shri Krishna’s forms, leelas and divine moods are of utmost importance and Vaishnavs should contemplate on these when performing seva, receiving darshan or participating in satsang, as it binds the bhaktas to Shri Thakorji and instills Bhav, Bhakti and Prem in the heart. Summer 2016 Comments/Qs: [email protected] !1 6 VYO Pushti Preeti Newslet4er Pushti Etiquette Circumstances in which one should NOT do Dandvat to Vallabhkul Acharyas In his book, “Pushti Protocols”, Shri Chandragopalji Maharajshri has clearly stated when Vaishnavs should not do Dandvat to Vallabhkul Acharayas. While he/she is sleeping While he/she is bathing While he/she is eating While he/she is drinking While Vallabhkul is observing mourning period (sutak) While he/she is performing dandvat During his/her sandhya paath During solar or lunar eclipse During memorial service While he/she is deeply engrossed in writing While he/she is singing kirtans While he/she is walking While he/she is in the hospital While he/she is in a public place While he/she is performing duties that are not related to “Guru” duties. Significance of Ekadashi Yogini Ekadashi: This Ekadashi helps one to leave the materialistic life and become spiritual. Fasting on this Ekadashi helps in overcoming the remorse caused by sins committed and aids in achieving Gowlok Dham (moksha). There is an ancient tale of a gardener name Hemamali who was cursed to suffer with leprosy. He overcame this curse by observing vrat on this Ekadashi. According to Lord Krishna, the fast done on this day is equal to feeding 88000 Brahmins. Devshayani Ekadashi: It is believed that on this day, Lord Vishnu goes into a deep sleep for the next four months (chaturmas), and so it is called Dev Shayani (going to sleep) Ekadashi. This day also mark the beginning of the monsoon (rainy) season. According to legends, there was a noble king named Mandata who ruled a highly prosperous kingdom. He was very truthful and engaged in numerous auspicious deeds. Nonetheless, his kingdom did not receive any rain for three years. To find a solution, he goes to Sage Angira, who advised him to observe the Ekadashi vrat. The king followed his advice and his kingdom received rain and became prosperous once again. Kaamika Ekadashi: According to Hindu beliefs, a devotee observing a vrat on this Ekadashi is blessed more than a person performing ritual baths in holy rivers. Also it is believed that this devotee is blessed more than a person who has visited all the holy places. This Ekadashi vrat is considered very significant and auspicious for performing good deeds and seeking blessings of the Lord. Putradaa-Pavitra Ekadashi (Birth of Pushtimarg): This Ekadashi is very important as it marks the establishment of Pushtimarg. Shri Mahaprabhuji’s pragatya in this world was to search and unite Daivi jeevs with the Lord. One day Shri Mahaprabhuji was very worried about how to fulfill his duty. Lord Krishna appeared before him as Shri Gokulchandramaji and offered Shri Mahaprabhuji Brahmasambandh mantra to unify the Pushti souls with himself. This incidence took place at Govind Ghat in Gokul at midnight of Shravan Sud 11 in Samvat 1549. Prostrating before the Lord, Shri Mahaprabhuji adorned him with Pavitra made from cotton and mishri bhog. Hence this Ekadashi is also called Pavitra Ekadashi. Ajaa Ekadashi: This Ekadashi is also called Aanand (joy) Ekadashi. It is believed that on this day Lord gave moksha to Ajamil. He was a demon and had committed sins all of his life. He had a son named Narayana. Just before his death, he called his son by his name – Narayana. Since this is a Lord’s name, Volume 3. Issue 4. In Hinduism, there is a tale about King Harishchandra. He was known for his truthfulness and honesty. One day, he lost everything including his family but he never lied. While leaving in Kashi, he met a great sage who advised him to do vrat on this Ekadashi. The king followed his advice and he got everything back. This is why this Ekadashi is also called Aanand Ekadashi. One should always speak truth and devote the life to the God. Daan – Pari Vartini Ekadashi: On this day, Shri Thakorji took goras (yogurt, milk, etc.) from Gopis to prevent them from selling in Mathura where Raja Kans used to live. This leela of taking goras was done at Daan Ghati. By giving goras to Shri Thakorji, gopis surrendered everything they have to Thakorji. Daan Leela starts from Bhadarva Sud 11 to Bhadarva Vad 30. Here, milk is Swaminiji swaroop and yogurt is Shri Chandravaliji swaroop. During these days, yogurt is offered to Shri Thakorji. Another significance of this day is that Gurudev accepts Daan in hands, as we generally keep Daan at the feet. Here, the bhaav is that by offering Daan to guru, it is given to Shri Mahaprabhuji thus to Shri Thakorji. This Ekadashi is also called Pari Vartini Ekadashi. It is said that on this day, Kans asked Akrurji to go to Gokul and bring Shri Krishna and Balaram. When he left Mathura, he was proud about his knowledge. As soon as, he reached Gokul, he saw Shri Thakorji’s charans in the sand and that created bhakti bhav in him and he started rolling into the sand. This is the reason it is also called Pari Vartini (good change) Ekadashi. Indira Ekadashi: It is believed that observing this Ekadashi vrat helps remove the sins committed by oneself and one’s forefathers. Legend has it that King Indrasena, on Narada Muni’s advice, observed Indira Ekadashi vrat and saved his father from the remorse of sins committed during earthly life. Volume 3. Issue 4. He was an A+ student in all subjects except math. He wished it were hereditary because his grandfather was a Math-viz. He also regularly attended VYOE classes. He loved going to VYOE sessions. He had lots of friends there, and he loved all teachers. His favorite story was Eklavya. "Kaush! Come on, Beta! Time for bed", his Mom said from the kitchen, "Tomorrow you have math exam. You should be in bed soon. Kaushal did DANDVAT to God and took blessings from his parents. He also took blessing from his grandfather's picture set on his study and then he got in bed. As his mom was putting him in bed, he said, "Can you tell me the story of Eklavya?" Kaushal fell asleep, before long. He started dreaming about Eklavya. >>>> Dream <<<< Eklavya had seen nine Diwalis. His parents were poor, living in a hut. His father was making a living by hunting. Eklavya loved archery. He wanted to be the best archer in the world and he knew, he WOULD BE! Eklavya had heard of the Guru Dron. Guru Dron was the best archery teacher. "Ma, I want to go see Guru Dron!" Eklavya said to his mom. "Son, Guru Dron is far away. Besides, he is teaching Royal children. He can't teach you!" "Ma! I told you, he will teach me!! I have already made him my teacher!! I'm going to see him now. Papa, said he was in the next town in a camp." Eklavya goes to see Guru Dron. As his mother had said, he was full time teacher for the Royals. He could not teach Eklavya. But Guru Dron gave blessing to Eklavya and said to him "Son, you can do anything you put your mind to! My blessings are with you, beta!" Eklavya did not give up! He made a statue of Guru Dron and believed him to be his real teacher. He started learning from him. Every day he would get up early, get blessing from his elders and Guru Dron and learn. Gradually, he became good at archery. His burning desire to become the best eventually made him so good that he was able to shut a barking dog by stuffing arrows in dog's mouth without hurting the dog. <<<< >>>> In the meantime, Kaushal's alarm went off and he woke up. He had set alarm to get up early to study. Guru Dron's words kept ringing in his mind; “Son, you can do anything you put your mind to! My blessing are with you, Beta!” You put your mind to! ..... You put your mind to, Beta! He was determined to do better in Math. All of a sudden, he got a bright idea! Why don’t I learn from my Grandfather! He sat near his grandfather's picture. "Dada! Now you are my Math teacher!" And he started solving Math problems. When he was baffled he would look at grandfather and WALLAH he would get the answer. Problem after problem, he was able to understand the problem better and solve it!! That day he came running in the house from school bus and handed the results to his Mom. "Kaushal, how did you do it?” said Mom. Kaushal said: " Ma, I HAVE A NEW TEACHER!!!" Kaushal's NEW teacher is a secret only he knows and he shared it with YOU! Volume 3. Issue 4. VYO Savannah celebrated kids’ academic successes for 2015-2016 school year by taking them to Folley beach with the family. The trip was sponsored by Bhagvadiya Vaishnavs of Savannah! The family event was full of fun activities such as splash zone, paddle boating, aquarium visit, dolphin tour on speed boat, and fun and quality time with friends and family on bus. The trip was a big success as it helped kids grow spiritually, and academically while teaching important community values! Feedback from kids: Thank you so much for planning VYO trip. We had lots of fun! My Friend and I both enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to future trips. (Soniya and Kristen) I enjoyed the trip and the ride there, it was fun. I like coming and learning and doing things about Bhagwan. I like the songs that Jeje recites. — Mira Trivedi (Age: 5) I learned that Ram went to a vanvas for 14 years. I learned that Shri Mahaprabhuji saw Shri Yamunaji at a pond. I think our Guru is telling us the right thing and we should follow it. You can learn a lot about God in VYO. I think VYO is important because it teaches you about GOD. — Shreena Desai (Age: 8) VYO is a very important learning experience for kids that would like to learn more about religion and practice it. I got to learn about our culture and the qualities and gift we are all born with. The experience taught me about values that my family stands for. VYO is a teaching foundation that changes ones feelings toward GOD and the beliefs that we have been practicing since birth. — Rahil Gandhi (Age: 12) VYO is a perfect way to connect with GOD. We as Vaishnavs should keep VYO close to our hearts and have others take the benefit of our learnings. — Sahil Maher (Age: 10) VYO is a program ran by Vrajraj Bawashri, which teaches young inexperienced Vaishnavs about Pushtimarg and secures your belief in Krishna Bhagvan. It is very prominent and educational since it expands your knowledge on our religion. We learned about Ramayan, which is the leela of the 7th avtar in which Sita Maiya is abducted by Ravan, and Ram defeats Ravan and brings her back. The whole leela’s main goal was to get rid of the evils of the world. Later on, we learned about gurus and how they are our guide. Also, we learned about Mahaprabhuji, our guru, who gave us Brahmasambandh, a special ritual that bonds you to Krishna forever. We were educated on Yamunaji, a special goddess who was our mother, and is beloved to Krishna. By reciting Yamunashtak it gets you closer to Krishna. VYO taught us a lot of things this year.
