to be ahead of the game?” That’s what Aflac Agent Whitney
Millwood says about her experiences with Everwell, Aflac’s
private exchange.
Millwood, who has been an Aflac agent in Georgia since 2009,
began utilizing this new platform as part of the pilot program
with select producers in October 2013. Here’s what she has to
say about Everwell and its impact on her business.
Today’s Changing Healthcare Environment
With the market changing like it is, we need to be able to adapt.
A lot of the objections we’ve been hearing from businesses have
been related to confusion around the Affordable Care Act. The
concept of our new Everwell platform has given me one more
way to overcome these objections.

Type of Business: Doctor’s Office
Scenario: This business is right across the parking lot
from our local district Aflac office. Associates have been
going in there for years trying to get an appointment
with no luck. One of my new associates happened to
walk in again this year, and the HR manager had the
same response: “We’re not interested in Aflac right
now. But we are looking for some long-term disability.”

Everwell’s number one purpose is to be a new door opener for
me. It means not only being able to get our foot in the door of
new and inactive accounts by expanding our offerings, but it’s
also helping in our recruiting efforts. To be able to tell potential
recruits that Aflac is at the forefront of healthcare reform and
the only one in our market to have our own private exchange
presents a great opportunity. Everwell allows Aflac agents to
present a suite of benefits options to small businesses, along
with easy administration and enrollment. That’s good news
for both new and existing accounts alike. We’ve been able to
write new business in accounts where we hadn’t written new
business in a couple of years just by throwing out this idea of
our new platform. We’ve already reactivated at least a dozen
inactive accounts this way!

they decided not to even offer LTD, but are offering all
