Prestage is investing in our first, state-of-the-art pork
processing plant in Iowa. We believe it will be good for Iowa and
good for agriculture.
We farm and run our business based on our family values and the
operating philosophy that Bill and Marsha Prestage outlined when
establishing the business in 1983. Today, the
Prestages and their three sons - Ron, Scott
and John - actively own and operate the
business. Together, with our employees,
Prestage Farms has grown into a
successful, multifaceted family of
farm and food companies.
Prestage Farms of Iowa
While you may not have heard of us, we’ve
been operating in Iowa since 2004. Today,
Prestage Farms of Iowa is located in 30
Iowa counties.
Our business model in Iowa takes
advantage of the existing rich farming
heritage by aligning with local, Iowabased businesses and farm families
for services like animal care, feed
production, maintenance and
transportation.

That’s why Prestage is investing in our
first, state-of-the-art pork processing
plant in Iowa. We plan to buy 40
percent of the hogs from local,
independent farmers, and we look
forward to being a new marketing
option for them. This will lower
their shipping costs for processing,
increase the value of their animals
and keep the economic value of pork
processing right here in Iowa.
We’re creating 900 jobs
We know meat processing is hard work, and we have a 30+ year
history of valuing employees. In our turkey processing plant, many
employees have been with us for over a decade.
The lowest-paid workers at the Prestage Foods of Iowa plant
will begin at more than $37,000 per year plus benefits. Average
wages at the plant are expected to be more than $47,000 per
year plus benefits.

We’re serious about animal care
We will involve industry experts on animal handling in designing
the Prestage Foods of Iowa facility. All Prestage Farms employees
are Pork Quality Assurance® certified to use the industryaccepted practices for raising pigs. Truckers are Transport Quality
Assurance® certified.
We support our local communities
From county fairs and booster clubs to fire departments and law
enforcement, we support projects and causes that are important
to our employees and our communities.
