Taste of Roselle 2011
Thousands of festival fans experienced one of Roselle’s finest events
– the 30th Annual Taste of Roselle! Our Bingo
and Beer Tents continue to be popular attractions offering patrons family entertainment
and refreshing beverages.
Our success was possible due to the generous donations made by Chamber member businesses and friends of the Chamber.

Our volunteers were tireless in their efforts from
the time of set-up on Friday through teardown on
Sunday. They met every need of our customers in both the Beer and
Bingo Tents. Beverages and bingo cards were flowing, and entertaining bingo calling filled the Bingo Tent. Loads of thanks to over 150
volunteers with special mention to those who participated the entire
weekend:

cannot do it alone!! Bloomingdale Township Republican Women’s
Organization and Harris N. A. Roselle came through once again in
our search for additional volunteers. Last of all, and certainly not least,
congratulations on a job well done to the Scouts of Troop #408. These
fine young men and their families offer annual services and assist with
set-up and teardown in both tents.
All in all, we worked like crazy while having a great deal of fun!! If you
were unable to participate, there’s always next year. We hope to see
you there!

I have to say, I can’t believe it’s August already! I live for Summer, as most of you do,
and here we are coming near the end of it.
We had another Super-Successful, 2nd Annual Membership Appreciation BBQ/Picnic.
I want to thank everyone who came out for some great food prepared
by Catering with Elegance and Don Helmig. Don always puts out a
great spread and who doesn’t enjoy a great picnic?! I want to thank the
Roselle Park District for their cooperation in using the Turner Park facilities again this year. Congratulations to the Tourney Winners who are
listed elsewhere within this newsletter!!!!
I would like to thank John Dywer and Gary Danno for hosting again what
has become an annual summer After-Hours event at Diamond Lil’s. We
appreciate your attendance and participation as always.
And last but definitely not least, THANK YOU to all of our Taste Volunteers, both in the Bingo and Beer Tents. I would like to especially the
numerous people that worked all or most of the weekend. We can’t pull
that huge project off without you. A big thanks to the Boy Scouts that
help us setup and teardown every year, and of course a huge Thank You
to Gail Croson, our Executive Director, who gets everything in order!
I haven’t said it in a while, but I want to thank all of you, the members,
for your continued participation and activity in the chamber!! To all our
new members, keep coming out and stay involved. To those of you
showing up for the first time in a while, Welcome Back and to our “regulars”, thanks for your continued support. Have a great month and we’ll
see you at the new Roselle location of Itasca Bank & Trust for the August
after-hours.

Business Person of the Year
It’s time once again to consider those members
deserving of being named “business person of
the year”. The Joseph G. Salerno Business
Person of the Year Award is given to Chamber members whose professional successes and
contributions to the community represent the
best of business and professional enterprises.
The Committee is accepting suggestions based
upon the following criteria:
• Must be a person owning or representing an
existing business in Roselle or vicinity.
• Must be a member in good standing of the
Roselle Chamber of Commerce; and
• Must be a person with current involvement
in Roselle business growth.
If you know of a local business person who is deserving of the award, please submit their name in
writing to the Chamber office by August 26. Be
sure to outline his/her qualifications based on the
criteria.

Fred Koehler

July 16, 2011
Koehler was a pioneer, a legend and a leader. He inspired
and mentored many and his
passion and panache will be
passed on in the legacy of Lynfred Winery. He
is survived by his wife (and biggest fan), Valerie
Koehler; two children, Fred Koehler, Jr. & Diane
Koehler; and one granddaughter, Katura Brooke
Schramer; a stepgrandaughter, Fabiola Guzman;
a brother, Arthur Koehler; Stepchildren; Karen,

What a great time!
We had a terrific turnout with 100+ attendees
who participated in July’s member picnic! The
food was fabulous, the band was great, and the
