The Trinity Center will close at 5:00pm. On Thursday, May 26th OLGC Knights of Columbus Council 15658 hosted its second annual Altar Server Appreciation Breakfast. The breakfast was our way of thanking all our altar servers and student lectors for their wonderful service rendered to Our Lord and to the parish at both Sunday and daily Mass. The breakfast was catered by our good friends Mohammed and Beit from the Robin Hood Diner, which has always been so good to us! Our young charges enjoyed eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, pork roll, french toast, and pancakes and ate to their fill! Our pastor, Father Suskey, thanked them for all they do as did KofC Grand Knight Kevin Madison. Keep up the good work! Vivat jesus! In service to one. In service to all! St. John’s Hospice Casserole Program St. John's Hospice Casserole Program Next weekend, June 18-19, is the next drop-off weekend for the St. John's Hospice Casserole Program. If you would like to make a casserole to feed the homeless men served by St. John's Hospice, please pick up a casserole pan and lid from the lower cabinet to the right of the freezer in the vestibule this weekend. Make a protein rich casserole serving twelve this week, labelit with the date and contents, freeze at home (important) and return it to the freezer when you come to Mass next weekend. Thank you for your generosity! If you have any questions please contact Suzanne Kuhn at 215-355-5846 or email [email protected]. Aid for Friends Cooking Session Monday, June 20 Sign up in the church vestibule to bring 12 servings of a meat, starch or vegetable to the annual Aid for Friends summer cooking session, which will be held Monday, June 20th in the Trinity Center. We will create a meal reserve to keep our frail, elderly clients well-nourished during the summer months, when meal donations tend to drop off. Please note that we are no longer accepting rolls or desserts, as these create storage issues. High school students: participation in the cooking session qualifies for two hours of community service credit. If interested, report at 6:30 PM on June 20, and bring your school's service verification form with you. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Questions? Please contact Suzanne Kuhn at 215-355-5846 or [email protected]. OLGC Evangelization Project My brothers and sisters, as you continue discerning this summer which people to invite to join us at Church, you may wish to consider the following the suggestion if you don't know where to start. During his earthly ministry, our Lord's evangelization outreach more often than not focused on people going through some life crisis: illness, death of a loved one, failed family relationships, demonic possession or dead end jobs. We would do well to emulate Jesus' example in our own evangelization efforts in our neighborhoods, work places, extended families and friends. When people are in the midst of intense suffering, they need all the moreso the guidance, encouragement and inspiration found in the Gospel message. We encourage you then to keep in the forefront those individuals who are currently undergoing some form of suffering and have no religious affiliation. We have the precious gift of our faith to help them deal with any possible crisis, for we know that suffering is key to our redemption. We offer them the gift of hope in the face of despair, something far more valuable than silver or gold. If you are struggling with how to take the first step, just drop us a line at [email protected] or call 225-357-1300 x 176. Our Evangelization Team members realize that it is not always easy to get up our courage to reach out and make that initial invitation, but based on our own experience, it is well worth the time and effort. Success in any of life's endeavor always entails taking risks, and when we rise to the occasion, we receive the joy and satisfaction that comes from stepping out in faith. Don't miss the opportunity! OLGC School Highlight American Red Cross Blood Drive The next OLGC Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Monday June 13th from 1PM until 7PM in the Trinity Center. Sign ups will take place after Mass in the back of Church. Also, you may contact Peg Junod at (215)-364-1719 or [email protected]. Please note: Due to set-up for the Parish Carnival, donors should park on Keystone Rd. Operation Rice Bowl Thank You for Your Generosity Dear Father, Please accept my heartfelt thanks for the very generous Rice Bowl donation you shared with us because of the sacrifices made by your parish community this Lenten Season. Your parish joined more than 10,000 parishes across the United States and enriched your Lenten journey through the Catholic Relief Services Operation Rice Bowl. It is a real blessing to Catholic Relief Services since 75% of the donations support projects around the globe sponsored by CRS. It also makes a tremendous difference to families and individuals who struggle for food locally since the remaining 25% of the Rice Bowl donations support area food cupboards and soup kitchens throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Please express my gratitude to everyone who participated in this special Lenten opportunity and let them know that their care and concern has made a real difference to so many in need. May God continue to bless you for your generous spirit of mercy and compassion for others. Gratefully, Anne H. Ayella CRS Diocesan Director Congratulations to the Class of 2016, as they journey forward towards graduation and new adventures in high school! We could not be prouder of their many accomplishments, winning over $490,000 in academic, art, and performing arts scholarships! The OLGC School community will miss you greatly, and we wish you God’s blessings and only good things in the future. OLGC School marked the 20th anniversary of the passing of Caitlyn Curtin, an OLGC student who passed away from childhood cancer, by hosting an Alex's Lemonade Stand to fight childhood cancer. Special thanks to Balford Farms for donating 360 bottles of lemonade for the event, and Mrs. Diane Curtin who came and shared Caitlyn's story with them. All donations raised will help families affected by childhood cancer. Our Dining Around Town Program is wrapping up for the year!
