Dear Friends:
Welcome to the Saugus River Watershed Council’s 10th Annual River Night
dinner and auction! Your presence at tonight’s event will help us continue our
efforts to protect and restore natural resources, educate young people about the
environment, increase public access, and provide natural history programs for the
general public.
Proceeds from this evening will enable us to continue our many river
protection and restoration projects. Your support will also help us educate hundreds
of elementary and middle school students about their role in protecting the natural
resources of the watershed.
We have put together a unique evening celebrating the Saugus River
watershed. The many businesses and individuals acknowledged in this program
book have provided generous sponsorships and donated outstanding items to help
make this auction a success. We sincerely appreciate their contributions and urge

This evening would not have been possible without the tremendous efforts of

AUCTION PROCEDURES
Live Auction
•
The live auction begins at approximately 8:15 p.m. and continues until all live auction
items are auctioned off (approximately 8:45 p.m.).
•
Items in the live auction may be bid on by raising your bid card to attract the
attention of the Auctioneer. This procedure must be repeated each time you initiate
or increase a bid.
•
A bid is binding if deemed high bid by the Auctioneer.
•
Items 100 through 111 are Live Auction Items.
Silent Auction
•
The silent auction will take place between 6:00 p.m. and approximately 8:00 p.m.
•
To bid on a silent auction item, print your bid number (legibly) on the silent auction
bid sheet next to the desired bid amount for that item. Starting bids and minimum
increments are preprinted on the bid sheets. Bids lower than the minimum required
starting bids are invalid. Incremental bids lower than the required incremental bids
are invalid.
•
All bids written on the bid sheets are binding.
•
Bidding on the silent auction items will close at approximately 8:00 p.m. An
announcement will be made prior to the close of bidding so that a last round of bids
can be made.
•
Results of the silent auction will be posted in the check-out area shortly after the close
of the silent auction.
•
Items 200 through 283 are Silent Auction Items.
Saugus River Fishing Derby
For $25 you can catch a fish-shaped gift box which includes an item or items worth at least
$25. The fishing derby will be available during the silent auction. No returns or exchanges.

FOLQ was founded in 1991 by a group of like-minded citizens who recognized how important Lake
Quannapowitt was to Wakefield. They sought to mobilize the growing public sentiment that it needed to
be protected for future generations.

About the
Saugus River Watershed Council
The Saugus River Watershed Council is a non-profit organization
founded in 1991 to protect and restore the natural resources of
the Saugus River watershed. Each year, we work with hundreds
of volunteers to restore natural resources, provide quality
environmental education programs, and expand public access
opportunities throughout the watershed.
This year, hundreds of middle school students will participate in
the Saugus River Watershed Council’s free environmental education
programs operated in partnership with New England Discovery.
Through field exploration, classroom projects, and hands-on
science, students will learn about the relationship between climate
change and local environmental conditions, and their role in
protecting the natural resources of the watershed.
During 2012, we will continue to protect and restore the rivers,
lakes, wetlands and wildlife of the watershed. Our priorities
include improving water quality, restoring historic fisheries such
as rainbow smelt, educating youths, and expanding public access
to the natural resources of the watershed.
The Saugus River watershed stretches from
Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield to the Lynn
Harbor/ Saugus River estuary, encompassing
all or part of the following eleven communities
-- Saugus, Wakefield, Lynn, Revere, Lynnfield,
Malden, Melrose, Reading, Everett, Peabody
and Stoneham.
