WELCOME TO GOD’S PORTION DAY. Thank you to everyone who has made this God’s Portion Day possible - volunteers, sponsors, businesses, Notre Dame families, alums, parishioners and staff. We have listed the items by hours, hopefully giving you an idea when an item will be auctioned. The items may not necessarily be auctioned in the exact order that they appear in the book, but within the hour in which they are listed. We will do our best to stay on schedule but some items may take longer to auction than others. More items may have come in after this book went to print, so it will be up to the discretion of the auction committee to place them in the auction. Also, food and beverage items will be spontaneously auctioned throughout the day. We want to thank everyone who contributed so generously to this year’s auction. We have tried not to omit any person, business, or donation, but as we are all human, this may have accidentally happened. Please accept our apologies. RULES AND REGULATIONS The auction will begin promptly at 10:00 A.M. You may pay for your items as you acquire them, or before you leave. A cashier’s table is set up at the west side of the gym, and all items must be paid for today/tonight. MASTERCARD AND VISA WILL BE ACCEPTED. All sales are final. Please remember all these merchants and individuals who gave generously to God’s Portion Day. If you purchase a certificate for services or products, please be aware of the stated parameters. Please use your certificates for the number of people or events intended before the expiration date. Items and certificates are not redeemable for cash. Please enjoy the day and thanks for attending and participating in God’s Portion Day. For effective contributions made on or after January 1, 1994, charitable organization must inform donors in writing that quid pro quo contributions in excess of $75 are deductible only to the extent they exceed the value of any goods or services provided by the charitable organization in return. For purposes of this provision, quid pro quo contributions are defined as contributions and partly in consideration for goods or services furnished to the donor. The term excludes any payments made to an organization organized exclusively for religious purposes in return for which the taxpayer receives solely an intangible religious benefit generally not sold in a commercial transaction outside the donative context. Typically, quid pro quo contributions are made in connection with charitable fund raising events, such as charity golf tournaments, auctions, theater events, dinner dances and similar events, where part of the payment constitutes a contribution. In connection with the solicitation or the receipt of a quid pro quo contribution, charitable organizations must provide a written statement that: (1) informs the donor that the amount of the contribution deductible for federal income tax purpose is limited to the excess of the amount of money or property contributed over the value of the goods and services provided by the charitable organization; and (2) provides the donor with a good faith estimate of the value of such goods and services. Disclosure statements may be made in any reasonable manner likely to come to the attention of the donor. Thus, disclosure statements may be placed on solicitation materials, event program, tickets, etc. When you pay for your auction items today you will receive a ticket for each item you purchased. The ticket will show what you paid for the item. The excess you pay over the fair market value is your donation. You will need to keep these receipts for your 2013 tax return.
