19 September, 2014 - BLOGS: I’m not too sure how to start this as
I’m feeling a little flat, ah maybe lets go back to the Swatch girls pro
qualifying competition in France, where it was flat there too. After
finishing 9th in the previous contest at Oceanside, USA by 0.03 (that
margin of score isn’t even a wiggle, maybe a wink of the eye to the
judges is worth that much) I was feeling mixed emotions of
disappointment and anger.

Be Kind Rewind: John John’s incredible 19.73 heat
19 September, 2014 -CONTESTS: On Wednesday John John
Florence scored five nine-point rides in his Round 4 heat at the Hurley
Pro. The Hawaiian prodigy logged a near-perfect 19.73 two-wave total
in a heat featuring 11-time World Champion Kelly Slater and World
No. 7 Adriano De Souza.
Smith gets bump in rankings after Trestles win
19 September, 2014 - TEAM: O’Neill Team rider Jordy Smith has won
stop number eight of the Association of Surfing Professionals World
Championship Tour. Jordy Smith (ZAF) defeated John John Florence
(HAW) in the final by a score of 16.50 to 15.87 in overhead surf at
Lower Trestles.
Peterson & Toledo score award at Hurley Pro
19 September, 2014 - VIDEO: Lakey Peterson and Filipe Toledo have
each won an Innovation Award for specific maneuvers during the
WCT events at Lower Trestles. Peterson's Swatch Women's
Innovation Award recognized her air reverse in Round 4 of the
Swatch Women's Pro, while Toledo's Hurley Men's Innovation Award
honors his incredible air during the Hurley Pro at Trestles.
Rehab facility incorporates surfing into recovery
19 September, 2014 - HUMANITARIAN: Morningside Recovery of
Orange County, California, has created the nation's first substance
abuse and mental health recovery surf camp. Swell Life combines the
healing powers of holistic therapy and the ocean to create a unique
and inviting program for the recovery community.
Semifinalists decided at Chicama Classic Pro Jr
19 September, 2014 - JUNIORS: On the conclusion of the longest day
of competition at the Chicama Classic Pro Junior, twelve heats were
completed and the Semifinalists have been decided in both divisions
for the race to see who will become the 2014 ASP South America Pro
Junior Series champion at the lefthand pointbreak of Chicama, in
Razuri, Peru.
Shark repellant cable may prevent future attacks
19 September, 2014 - SHARKS: The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board
(KZNSB) will begin testing an electronic shark repellent cable next
month in an attempt to prevent future shark attacks. In 2012, the
Institute for Maritime Technology (IMT) in Simon’s Town was
contracted to design and build a demonstrator cable. The engineering
and technical team first built a short cable that was tested for seaworthiness.
PV Laborde Invitational clip contest goes LIVE!
19 September, 2014 - VIDEO: The PV Laborde Invitational has just
launched. The unique event pits four teams against each other in the
dreamy beach breaks of Hossegor. The Surf Clip Battle features the
likes of Jeremy Flores, Charly Martin, Maxime Huscenot, Bianca

Swatch steps in to support women’s tour
19 September, 2014 - INDUSTRY: The inaugural edition of the
Swatch Women’s Pro Trestles, an ASP Women’s World
Championship Tour (WCT) event, was concluded in classic
September conditions at the iconic Southern Californian surf break,
crowning 5-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) as event
champion. Stephanie defeated compatriot Sally Fitzgibbons in a final
that paid to testament to the incredible performance levels women’s
surfing has reached today.
Gilmore narrows title race gap after Trestles
19 September, 2014 - TEAM: Roxy surfer Stephanie Gilmore (AUS)
claimed her second 2014 Women’s ASP event win at the first ever
WCT Swatch Women’s Pro at Lower Trestles in California with an
unmatchable performance, scoring a 10.0 and 9.5 during her final
heat against fellow Roxy surfer Sally Fitzgibbons.
