Boltini Lounge proposes a week of festivities mirroring the spirit of
the New Orleans Southern Decadence celebration. The week prior
to our big Halloween bash on Saturday October 29th, our lounge
will come alive with the carnivale
spirit through live performances,

premium signature libations, whimsical dishes and decadent
desserts all the while encouraging our guests to indulge in an
environment that is miles away from every day life.

A bief history of the carnivalesque
Celebration as a social force for
uniting communities
The Big Easy, known for it’s risqué sensual delights and peculiar cultural history has

provided a perfect backdrop for the deliciously rich and long practiced pastime of carnivale
to come alive during the city’s infamous Mardi Gras celebration.
The last four decades of New Orleans’ history have also seen a less known but equally
sultry celebration called Southern Decadence. Subversive costuming and decadent indulgence
beg a temporary suspension of the rules of ordinary life. Role reversal, forbidden laughter,
rowdy humor, and complete, utter, unbridled indulgence run rampant enveloping the city

with the spirit of the carnivalesque.

Some may argue that the carnivale
festivities. But these community celebrations are an important and growing social force
that provide a much needed release valve by liberating people, if only temporarily, from
prejudiced assumptions of a dominant lifestyle. The crossing of social boundaries is
encouraged and people’s differences are blurred as they celebrate the grotesque
elements of humanity and crude humor. Because this social force is generally accepted in
popular culture it remains immune from the judgment of every day life making it a perfect
ground for cultural transformation.
