After 27 years in the industry, I am very proud that AUTORE is a major contributor to the
international South Sea pearl business. From our pearl farm operations, to the wholesaling
of loose pearls and necklaces, and the design and manufacturing of new jewellery
collections, AUTORE continues to serve a wide range of customers around the globe, and
2015 will be no exception.
With a contemporary view of the pearl always in mind, AUTORE remains at the forefront of
shaping the perception of how we understand, adore and wear pearls today. Our new
collections continue to challenge traditional concepts of pearl design and our jewellery
provides above all else, an incredible personal experience.
In response to the success of last year’s ‘Capsule Collection’ featuring floral motifs, our
design team was inspired to create the new 2015 ‘Orchid Collection’ - a jewellery range that
combines two of nature’s great treasures: the unique Australian native orchid, and the
magnificent South Sea pearl.
The ‘Orchid Collection’ will be unveiled at Baselworld in March, showcased alongside a
second new collection named ‘Rose Cut’ – a fusion of architectural heritage and
contemporary design. As with all AUTORE jewellery, our new collections embody quality,
sensuality and distinction in combining South Sea pearls with striking gemstones to create
bespoke pieces that display both innovation and functionality within modern settings.
It is my pleasure to introduce our 2015 collections to the international jewellery world.
We have cause to celebrate more innovative and stylish design with an important addition
to the AUTORE brand. Look out for a chic re-interpretation of our packaging and display
material to be launched this year, featuring a colour that is steeped in pearling history – a
fitting complement to AUTORE’s new range of jewellery.
Away from the design halls, and back to the source, the AUTORE pearl farms have enjoyed
a strong year producing some exceptional harvests of South Sea pearls. Our farm in
Lombok, Indonesia has launched an environmental conservation initiative in which
AUTORE has committed to an education program for the local community centred on the
importance of marine life and preservation. I am incredibly pleased with the progress so
far, and look forward to seeing the ongoing benefits of this project.
A successful year ahead would be impossible without a team of dedicated and determined
staff across all sectors of the business, and I would like to thank all the extraordinary
AUTORE staff who believe in my vision for the company, and share my passion for the
South Sea pearl.

Australia is home to some of the world's most beautiful
orchids. Recognised as one of the hardiest and drought
tolerant plants on earth, these native flowers from Australia
produce extraordinary strong colours, curves and symmetrical
lines not seen in other orchids.
From species that grow exclusively on paper bark trees or live
above the clouds in mystifying gorges, to varieties veiled under
sandy coastal shrubs protected from ocean sprays, these
spontaneous and vibrant native flowers have evolved from the
harsh Australian landscape to become some of the world's
most coveted orchids.
The orchid has long been coveted as the most luxurious of
flowers and regarded as a symbol of love, strength, fertility

ANTELOPE ORCHID
Den canaliculatum
The Antelope Orchid derives its name from the twisted sepals and
petals, which resemble the form of the antlers of an antelope. It is a
native plant with its beautiful petals and colours contributing to the
floral landscape. This fragrant flower almost exclusively grows on
paper bark trees, defining its classification as a tree orchid. The Antelope Orchid embodies a range of vivid colours from white,
pinks, violets, yellows and browns, to almost black. The multiple
blooms of this beautiful flower per year, combined with the large
amount of spikes on each bulb, are a reflection of the amazing
qualities of such a spectacular specimen.
PURPLE ORCHID
Glossodia major
The Australian Waxlip Orchid is a vividly bright purple, single flowered
orchid. This Purple Orchid is elongated with its height reaching
approximately 30 cm. Although the Waxlip Orchid is usually found as a
solitary flower, often it is seen growing with others in ‘families’/colonies.
This orchid finds home in a variety of different landscapes, quite
commonly living in heath, open forest, grasslands, and stabilised sand
dunes.
It is a breathtaking species which ranges from an intense purple-blue to
a mauve-purple colour, also found in a white variety, and holds great
importance within the Australian landscape due to its production of
‘tubers’ which were utilised by Indigenous Australians as a food source.

ORANGE BLOSSOM

The Orange Blossom Orchid was once plentiful
along the sparkling streams in eastern Australia.
Today it is almost a mystery, living above the
clouds in mystifying gorges and on ridge tops,
hiding behind grey mists, covered in crystal clear
raindrops that magnify its beauty.
The Orange Blossom Orchid grows in a family
consisting of at least 3 – 14 orchids, all
individually arranged in a fan shape with
independent arched petals. Each member blends
into one another forming a striking flower.
However, if you happen to be lucky enough to
come across this orchid, when you look closely
each one is distinctively illuminated by the smooth
curves of its own petals.
RAIN ORCHID
Phaius australis
The Rain Orchid can be seen in the months
of spring, sporadically scattered on
Australia’s eastern coast, creating the largest
flowers of any orchid in Australia.
It is especially unique as it is one of the few
orchids to be endangered making each of its
blunt column wings filled with shades of
reddish brown even more desirable.
CURLY PINK ORCHID
Dendrobium x superbiens
The Curly Pink Orchid is known as one of
the most spontaneous flowers in Australia
as no one knows the flowering period of
the species.
This vibrant flower lives a long life with
each petal consisting of strong animated
shades of hot pink protected by the
shadows of the trees throughout the tropics
of Australia.

SUN STRIPED ORCHID
Thelymitra pulchella
The Sun Stripped Orchid is known to have one of the
most distinctive appearances with elegant wings which
are united in front at its base. This striking orchid can
be spotted by its warm pink and sharp blue veins on
each petal.
The Sun Stripped Orchid lives above the clouds on the
highest of altitudes, surviving in frosty winds. It is
almost magical that such an inimitable flower can
survive its environment. However, the most
unforgettable quality of the Sun Stripped Orchid is it’s
sweet seductive scent that erupts when the flower
blooms.
QUEEN OF SHEBA
Thelymitra variegata speciosa
The Queen of Sheba Orchid is Western Australia’s
most flamboyant orchid. This vivid species is one of
the most ostentatious flowers; its striking
combinations are possibly unrivalled anywhere in
the world. The sensuality of this flower is revealed as
it only opens its petals when hit by sunlight.
The Queen of Sheba leads the tribe of native orchids
though its iridescent sheen and heavy spotting with
long yellowish column arms and another. This orchid
can be found living among the coastal sand, veiled
under shrubs protecting its beauty from the ocean
sprays.

inspired by the beauty of the delicate 16th century rose
cut, an exquisite translation of the intricate
arrangement of rose petals.

AUTORE’s Oceania collection, which captivates the tropical
undersea world – the birthplace of the pearl - features hand
selected rare South Sea pearls combined with fancy coloured
diamonds and precious stones in unusual colours and cuts.
Each piece is highlighted by vibrant colour, articulation and
multi function, and to hold them is to feel the creatures come
alive in your hands. A story from beneath the ocean is carved
in contrasting gold on the reverse side of each piece.

exporting pearls directly to Japan, the US and Europe. His personal

AUTORE owns and operates 2 companies comprising of 7 South Sea pearl

Process
THE PROCESS
The elegant heritage listed building that houses the Group’s
central head office in Sydney, Australia, belies the activity and
modern facilities within.
Following harvest, pearls are transported to the AUTORE
company headquarters, the engine room for the Group. In
spacious viewing rooms flooded with natural light, every single
pearl is examined for presentation to buyers on behalf of the
producers.
Each pearl is weighed, measured and assessed according to the
AUTORE Five S’s – Shine, Surface, Shade, Shape and Size™. One
by one, the annual harvests pass through expert hands in
readiness for sale to exclusive jewellers and wholesalers in the
global marketplace.

AUTORE TAKES PEARL EDUCATION TO NEW
HEIGHTS IN THE FRENCH SENATE
AUTORE’s founder and CEO, Rosario Autore, was awarded a medal of distinction
by the French Senate in September 2008, in recognition of his valuable work and
dynamism in creating a trade standard for the classification of pearls, the
AUTORE Five S’s South Sea Pearl Classification Guide™.
AUTORE was invited to address 250 guests attending the 9th Annual French
Association of Gemmology Congress held in the French Senate in Paris, to discuss
the AUTORE brand history and in particular, present the world’s first
comprehensive guide to pearl classification.

AUTORE & JARI
Autore’s Pearl Farm in Indonesia, PT Autore Pearl Culture,
has collaborated with NGO Lembaga Juang Laut Lestari
(‘JARI’) to raise awareness in local communities about the
importance of the preservation of our environment. Autore
Pearl Culture is supporting JARI to implement the
educational project ‘The Pearl Farm and I’ in Nare
Bay, North Lombok Regency.
The joint project aims to increase the level of knowledge and
understanding of pearl farming and marine conservation
among local primary school students. It will be implemented
in three phases over 6 months from January – June 2015.
Late last year, JARI identified a school in the vicinity of
AUTORE’s Malaka farm amenable to an external education
program, to develop teaching materials with a focus on basic
reef ecology.
In November 2014, AUTORE started deploying four artificial
reef units at a depth of 10 to 15m. These reef units will be
checked on a regular basis to monitor the development of
flora and fauna in their vicinity.
The project aims to educate the communities that surround
the AUTORE pearl farm on the fragility of nature, and the
importance of sustaining our marine environment for future
generations.
