HOPE NEWSLETTER
PEFA MATUMAINI REHABILITATION CENTRE
REACHING OUT TO THOSE IN NEED
Please pray for the unrest that is steadily escalating in
Kenya. Pray that God will intervene and that peace will
prevail. Despite the unrest we are very grateful to God for
being with us in every step of our journey. We have seen him
lighting our path and being a strong tower. It has been a month full
of activities – Birthday celebrations, Day of the African child,
conflict resolution meeting, Board of Governors meeting, new
children intake

HOSPITAL VISITS
This month had its own share of challenges
especially with Sisco being on and off due to his
medical imbalances. We had to rush him to
hospital on 4 different occasions
Amos and Leonida also had to see a doctor both
two times.
Sarah, Collins, Samson, Mary, Irene and Emmanuel
were also taken ill. (It is the beginning of the cold
season)
Charles, Margaret and Sisco attended psychiatric
clinic in Nakuru Provincial General Hospital
Thanks God that none was admitted to the
hospital
ANITA LEE IS BACK
Early this month, Anita Lee a retired
occupational therapist volunteer from
Cardiff UK visited us again. We were afraid
that we had over worked her when she was
last here, but Anita had some unfinished
business to do. Anita is working closely
with the Hostel Manager and Social
workers in imparting her skills so that they
can continue when she is not here. Anita
has started some very meaningful
interventions with some cases that had
been termed as cold cases.
God bless you Anita and thank you for
giving of yourself.

blessed with one
more calf. We bless
the Lord for the
multiplication of our
livestock.
ROSE’ BIRTHDAY PARTY
The month started off with the celebration of
Rose Akinyi’s birthday here at the Centre.
Rose’ sponsor sponsored the party. Rose was very
happy and all the children enjoyed the day.
BOREHOLE REPAIR
We called in the borehole specialists Davis & Shirtliff to
check our borehole system. This was a three day
operation which translated to there being no water for
the Centre and community since the pump had to be
lifted from the borehole and taken to Nakuru by the
technicians. We send out the short notice time to the
community.
All of the residents took it nicely except for sister Ruth
who was worried as to what Charles’ cows would drink.
New pipes that
were installed
back into the
borehole

apartheid regime, when they were demonstrating against the use of Afrikaana language instead of the local language in schools.
They were also against the quality of education which was offered to them.
This year’s theme was ‘A child free, friendly and quality Education for all children in Africa’.
The function which is an annual event on that falls 16 th of June, was this year held at the Centre, the chief guest of honour was Hon.
H.M. Nyaga, the Senior Principal Magistrate - Molo Law Courts.
Every Charitable Children Institution in Molo sub county was represented, representative from government offices and the children
department were also present.
Our parents visiting day was adjusted to this day, so that the parents would participate and interact with government officers.
Our children did a skit on the lack of equal, quality and friendly education for the disabled. The children and staff sung the song, ‘We
are world, we are the children, we are the ones who make a brighter day so lets start giving……….’
