Easter 2015 Dear Parishioner, During the days of Holy Week, the Church in her prayers and liturgies shows us the Life, Death and Resurrection of her Divine Spouse, Jesus Christ. Please make every effort to participate in the ceremonies of Holy Week. If you haven’t done so already, make a good examination of conscience and go to confession. Please take note of the addition again this year of a repeated Good Friday Liturgy in the evening. This is to accommodate those who are not given the time off from work to attend such services in the afternoon. Many people have appreciated, and have taken advantage of, this added Liturgy in the past few years. May the risen Lord fill your heart with joy, bring you new hope, and bless you with peace. Happy Easter! The committee of parishioners which has been planning the celebration (namely, Chuck and Abla Colburn, Laura DiBiagio, Mary Anne Dunbar, Sue Gillespie, Angelo and Deb Grasso, Pat Klinger, Maria Malone, and Chris Moral) needs your help in making that day a fitting and joyful event for Monsignor Ricci, his family and friends. On the weekend of April 11th and 12th, committee members will be at a table in the narthex soliciting volunteers for various tasks (such as set-up, clean-up, and serving at the food and beverage stations). They also will be accepting RSVPs from parishioners who, by that time, have not responded via the Parish Office. As Mother Teresa stated, we cannot change the world by ourselves, but all together we can make an impact. The goal of the 2015 Mother Teresa Week of Service was to do just that. Beta Club and Student Government worked together with the entire student body. Donations were made to assist the efforts of “Operation Boldheart”, an organization established my MMR alum Thomas Howard. This group collects and distributes backpacks filled with toiletries and supplies to the homeless of Philadelphia and the surrounding area. The goal for the school was to fill over 400 backpacks. With the incredible generosity of the MMR School families, this goal became a reality. In addition to the collection of items, there was a special prayer chapel where students could gather in prayer. Each day there were special lessons to educate all about the life of Mother Teresa. The week culminated with a special assembly! The week was truly one of faith in action! This image of Mother Teresa was created by Gabriella Ford, grade 8, and was on display in the special prayer chapel. $1000 Tuition Transfer Credit Have you considered making a change in your child’s school experience? Once enrolled, your child will receive a $1000 tuition credit for the 2015-16 school year. For more information, contact Margi Slomiany at 215-412-7101 or [email protected]. From Our Pastor Dear Parishioner, I’m happy to announce that, soon, we will provide churchgoers at MMR with a hearing assistance system. In fact, the transmitter already has been installed in the church. This system was a very thoughtful and most useful gift of the late Robert H. Frank, Sr. The gift included four personal receivers. Prior to making this system available, and possibly purchasing more receivers, I would like to get a sense of how many folks would need/want to take advantage of this aid. If you are hearing impaired and would be looking forward to having this system in operation for your personal use, I ask that you kindly contact the Parish Office. Let us know of your interest. In doing so, you’re not making any kind of commitment to use it. I just want to be able to properly prepare for the general number of people who might be using the system. I appreciate your help with this, and hope that this system will be a welcome addition to the services we offer to our worshippers. The washing of the feet and the sacrament of the Eucharist: two expressions of one and the same mystery of love entrusted to the disciples, so that, Jesus says, “as I have done… so also must you do” (Jn 13: 15). – Saint Pope John Paul II Monsignor John Conway Grow Your Faith at MMR This Lent Are You Going?
