Strong Sales Performance
On Monday, June 29th, the entire Atlantic Wine &
Spirits on-premise division led by sales director Isaac
Marten and Diageo’s on-premise director Danny
Saltzman attended the roof deck at the Ravel Hotel. The hotel, located in Long Island City, is drawing
fantastic reviews and features Ketel One in several
cocktails. Danny and Isaac thanked the team for delivering on Diageo’s innovation execution including
strong performances with Oronoco Rum, Smirnoff
Pomegranate and Smirnoff Melon.

Celebrity Tournament
Jose Cuervo Tequila was one of the major sponsors
of this year’s U.S. Open Celebrity Pro Am Golf
Tournament held at Sleepy Hollow Country Club
on June 15th. Guests enjoyed Jose Cuervo Cocktails
and were introduced to Jose Cuervo Silver in a variety of great summer cocktails. Each foursome was

The Diageo Rainbow Network in partnership with
Atlantic Wine & Spirits continued its support of the
GLBT community during this year’s Gay Pride celebrations. 2009 commemorated the 40th anniversary
of Gay Pride beginning on June 17th with a fundraiser for “Housing Works” at Splash Bar, featuring
Ketel One, Citroen, Zwack, Smirnoff, Jose Cuervo
and Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea. On Saturday June
27th Diageo brands were promoted at the “Love Ball”
at the Nokia Theater. The Nokia Theater was the site of this year’s NYC Love Ball

To celebrate the launch of Red Stag, Beam Global
Spirits & Wine hosted more than 60 New York bartenders on June 12th at Yankee Stadium. The event
welcomed special guest Fred Noe, seventh-generation Jim Beam family distiller, whiskey professor
Bernie Lubbers and Yankee’s legend Richard “Goose”
Gossage. Invited bartenders competed in a cocktail
challenge to mix their own Red Stag cocktails. The
winning drink, “Red Hot-Hattan”, was crafted by
the Cocktail Guru, Jonathan Pogash, and will be
featured on the menu at the Jim Beam Lounge in
Yankee Stadium.

Beaujolais Cru’ze Event Names
the Top NY Beaujolais Bistro
On June 16th, “The Best of The Best Beaujolais Bistro Cup” competition ended in New York City during the Beaujolais Cru’ze with an awards ceremony
and private dinner aboard a 1920s style yacht. Guests
included participating bistros, judges and other prestigious members of the press and trade. New York
City bistro Capsouto Frères was crowned this year’s
winner; second place went to Le Bateau Ivre and
third to Alouette.

On June 4th, the Long Island Wine & Salesman Club
held their 64th annual golf and tennis outing at the
Middle Bay Country Club. This year’s event paid a
special tribute to Herman Hochberg, proprietor of
Queens Wine & Liquors. Proceeds from the event
will benefit the AHRC Nassau Chapter, which provides programs and special services to children and
adults with developmental disabilities.

Portfolio Tasting
Testa Wines of the World held a special portfolio
tasting at the Pine Hollow Country Club in East
Norwich on June 16th. Guests enjoyed wines from 22

Vias Imports Holds
Annual Portfolio Tasting
On June 8th wine lovers and aficionados gathered in
the Broadway Lounge of the Marriott Marquis overlooking Times Square to attend Vias Imports Portfolio Tasting. With over 45 producers in attendance,
the tasting featured some 400 fine wines. Known for
its Italian wine portfolio, Vias has been expanding
its distribution to include a line of non-Italian products called “Vias Around the World”.

The winemakers of Expression d’Origine
Expressions d’Origine, a group of outstanding Beaujolais producers, visited three American cities to
present their wines to professionals, press and consumers through a series of walk-around seminars and
tastings in New York, Chicago and Washington,
DC. In New York the group welcomed wine professionals and enthusiasts who were treated to a tasting at City Winery in Tribeca and a dinner at Rouge
Tomate Restaurant hosted by the Compagnons du
Beaujolais on June 1st. The 14 winemakers brought a
special 14-bottle hand-made wooden case featuring
the insignia of Expressions d’Origine and President
Obama’s famous “Yes We Can!” mantra to be gifted
to the 44th President.

The Premier Paella Parade
Raises Money for a Good Cause
On Sunday, June 7th, 10 Spanish chefs and restaurateurs competed for top honors in the Premier Paella Parade of New York City. The festive event was
held at the brand new Water Taxi Beach location at
South Street Seaport and the ticket proceeds raised
over $10,000 for dual charities, Action Against
Hunger and the Culinary Studies department at the
New York City College of Technology. The Paella
Parade was sponsored by Frederick Wildman & Sons,
importers of El Coto de Rioja, Baron de Ley, Museum and Maximo wines; Paris Gourmet; PaellaPans;
Miguel and Valentino; Action Against Hunger and
New York City College of Technology.

Bobo Throws Tequila Bash
On June 23rd, New York hotspot Bobo hosted a kickoff party to celebrate Mexico’s national spirit, tequila, with a special tequila-based cocktail menu. The
tequila all-star cocktail menu was created by mixologist Naren Young. Guests enjoyed “Stealth” Margaritas, “Passionistas” and “Jalisco Sunset Punch”, all
accompanied by a festive mariachi band.

PipeLine Brands Hosts
Summertime “Cocktail Jams”
PipeLine Brands recently ran two “cocktail jams”
where bartenders took artisanal brands and fresh ingredients into play and created some new seasonal
libations.The Montauk Yacht Club hosted an East
End bartenders event to kick off the summer. While
Cabrito in NYC hosted a full capacity jam for top
city mixologists. The NYC event was co-sponsored
