The Art of Natural Nutrition
Introduction
In this booklet we will discuss Natural Nutrition Techniques
that have been employed throughout history, and across
various cultures, to aid the body as it performs its daily
health maintenance.
The techniques vary greatly as they are all suited to a particular
area of the body or a particular process but they all have a
common goal – to help the body to achieve balance in any
areas in which it is struggling. These wide-ranging techniques
will provide you with invaluable tools: they enable you to
access any part of the body and offer it some assistance.
The Art of Natural Nutrition
Why are Techniques so important?
If we are asking the body to become well it must utilise a fair amount
of its energy to get things moving. Due to illness, sadly this body
energy is often missing. Using careful selection and a holistic
understanding one can employ these techniques to provide that
much needed energy to start creating movement. Even more
importantly, these techniques provide us with the tools to make sure
that any stagnation / toxicity which starts to move, continues to
move all of the way out of the body.
We need to be sympathetic when
using techniques
When we employ techniques, we need to be sympathetic to what we
ask the body to do because we may ask it to do too much too soon. It
is all too easy with over-enthusiasm to make too many changes, maybe
without considering what will be the consequent strains on the body.
An unhealthy body is under-functioning and therefore all of its systems
are in some way impaired. To start shifting excessive amounts of
stagnation / toxicity and to expect these impaired systems to cope
on their own with the extra workload, is very unrealistic.
This being the case, we need to be patient in our approach to the
restoration of health. We must endeavour to create a manageable
amount of toxicity-release throughout our treatment, then we must
make sure that we manage that toxicity (with techniques) through all
of the levels of detoxification and out of the body. Once we have
taken the initial toxicity out of the body, it is then in a slightly better
state of health. We can evaluate the situation and start to employ
further treatment to manage elimination. We approach treatment
layer by layer so that we gradually return balance to the body, rather
than overloading it with toxicity which has been mobilised.

How should the body detoxify?
Diagram A: A healthy
detoxification system
The body has a set system for detoxifying and all of the stages of the
system need to be functioning well for health to be returned and
maintained. In a healthy body, toxins should be removed
automatically from the body using the following route:
In the previous example, you can see how important it is to offer the
lymphatic system some assistance using techniques. If you can help
shift this stagnation within the lymph, the body can then attempt to
finish the process and excrete the toxins from the body.

Diagram B: An impaired
detoxification system
In a body where the detoxification is impaired, the toxicity can get
blocked at any of the stages. For example, the toxicity released from
the cell can stagnate within the lymph. If this toxicity is allowed to
stagnate for a long time, the body will show signs of illness such as
swollen glands, sore throats and even throw up a fever to create
movement of the lymph.
We have now shown you in an over-simplified way how the body
detoxifies and how techniques can play a role. However, there is
more to the detoxification process which we will now start to explore.
TOXINS
What happens if detoxification is impaired?
The reality of detoxification
TOXINS
1. Toxicity is released at cellular level into the lymphatic system (some
toxins leave via skin and lungs).
2. The toxic lymph then drains into the blood (some toxins leave via
the skin and lungs).
3. The blood passes through the liver (where toxins are filtered out).
4. The liver excretes the toxic bile into the bowel.
5. From the bowel, the toxins are excreted from the body.

In reality, it would never be possible to have significant stagnation in
the lymphatic system only as shown in diagram B. There would also
have to be significant stagnation within the liver and the blood to
cause this picture in the lymph.

the detoxification process. Once the liver is coping, you can then go
back to the original area of congestion and apply techniques to
create movement to address congestion. Further support to the liver
may then be required, to ensure that it can deal with extra toxicity
which has been released.
3
The real art when using Natural Nutrition Techniques, is to keep
the speed of elimination at an even rate throughout all of the
systems, from the cell to the outside of the body. If this is achieved,
detoxification will be comfortable and it will ensure that no areas
are left unsupported. Success will help to avoid the creation of a
‘healing crisis’.

Liver – The most important organ of elimination
As the liver is the main internal organ of elimination, (the skin offers
the largest external surface area for elimination), it should really be
the main focus during detoxification. In reality, due to its important
role and heavy workload, the liver is normally the first place to show
up congestion and therefore the area needing most support.
Back pressure
Once the liver begins to struggle with its role of detoxifying the blood,
the blood toxicity begins to rise. If this is left unsupported, the blood
then becomes extremely toxic and will struggle to receive and
cleanse the lymph effectively. If this situation is left unattended, the
cell will begin to have trouble releasing into the lymph, causing
cellular congestion. So you can now see that to achieve the
lymphatic problem shown in diagram B, the body must have gone
through this process of back pressure.
So far we have discussed the movement from the liver back towards
the cell, so now we need to take a quick look at the bowel stage. In
order for the liver to be able to release its toxic bile freely into the
bowel, the bowel must be evacuating effectively. If this is not
occurring, there are some relevant techniques contained in this
booklet to rectify that process.
Summary
• Techniques can provide the much-needed energy to help the body
start moving any congestion.
• It is vitally important to ensure that any stagnation which is released
is carefully managed and that the toxins are taken out of the body
to complete the cycle.
• Treatment needs to be approached in layers rather than throwing
everything at the body and asking it to cope with the changes.
• We have looked at how a healthy system should detoxify.
• We have outlined the consequences when any segment of the
system becomes overloaded.
• We have shown how techniques can release stagnation to create
flow throughout the routes of elimination.
• We have discussed why the liver is the most important organ of
elimination during detoxification and why it may need constant
support.
• We have shown the order in which toxicity ‘backs up’ from liver to
cell (which we refer to as back pressure).
• The guide to the use of techniques is a guide to
The Art of Natural Nutrition.
Having discussed the benefits of techniques in general, let’s go
through each technique and see how it is employed and the
benefits each of them can bring.
Always support the liver
In summary, whichever stage is struggling you should begin by
supporting the liver (with techniques) to improve its efficiency during

Skin Brushing
Skin Brushing
As the skin is the largest organ of elimination, it makes total sense to
utilise it as fully as possible during any detoxification programme.
Removing toxins through the skin avoids them having to pass
through vital inner organs e.g. the kidneys.
Chapter 2
What does it do?
Skin brushing removes the scurf layer (the upper-most layer of skin)
which holds a certain amount of acidity and toxicity. Brushing this
layer away gently makes available a whole new surface area through
which toxins can be excreted.
Brushing the skin also promotes movement within the
lymphatic system to prevent stagnation and thickening of the
lymph. Thickening of the lymph often happens during cleansing
as the lymphatic system has to work hard to remove toxicity
without the benefit of a pump (unlike the circulatory system
which has the heart).
When should I apply skin brushing?
Skin brushing can benefit everyone on a daily basis because it helps
to move the toxins and mucous which can stagnate easily within
the lymph.

What do I need?
To skin brush, you need a moderately stiff, natural-bristle brush
(see picture right). A back brush with a handle is ideal as it makes
reaching all of the body very simple. Keep the brush just for skin
brushing, and don’t get it wet as it will lose its effectiveness.

THE CELL
Avoid prescribing skin brushing to someone who is constipated as
this will create more material needing to be excreted via the bowel.
Wait instead until support has been given to the bowel. Do not apply
skin brushing to varicose veins, painful rashes or open wounds.

What are the effects?
Skin brushing can have the same effect as taking exercise, it can
make you feel more refreshed and alert due to movement being
created within your system. It can help take away that tired, ‘unrefreshed’ feeling first thing in the morning.
Case Example
An example of where skin brushing is particularly helpful is in M.E.
(Myalgia Encephalomyelitis) when a patient is feeling more tired on
waking than they did before sleep (due to the night-time stagnation
of their system). These patients are usually too ill to take exercise
and so skin brushing can help get their systems moving.

Hot and Cold Showers
Hot and Cold Showering
This technique is aimed at creating movement within the circulatory
system which in turn creates a knock-on effect of movement within
the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system travels around the
body in very close proximity to the blood circulatory system and so
anything which speeds up circulation will help create movement
within the lymph.
Chapter 3
What does it do?
When the body is subjected to heat (i.e. a hot shower) the blood
will move in greater volume to the surface of the body (i.e. the skin).
This enables the body to lose heat more readily to ensure an even
temperature is maintained within the body’s vital organs.
When the body is subjected to cold (i.e. one cold shower) the blood
will move in greater volume to the inner body. This enables the body
to keep the inner vital organs warm and ensure that a balanced
temperature is maintained at all times.

When should I apply hot and cold showers?
We can see that simply by
warming and cooling the body,
we can increase the activity
within the circulatory system.
In doing this, we also make the
lymphatic system work harder
to move the stagnant matter
it contains.
1
Hot and cold showers can be taken at any time during the day but
they are especially useful first thing in the morning. They can help
the body to start shifting the stagnation which has been caused
overnight during sleep.
Hot and cold showers are also extremely beneficial after completing
the skin brushing technique. The Skin brushing starts to create
movement within the lymph and a hot and cold shower afterwards
can capitalise on this and contribute to accelerated movement.
Effect of heat on the body
Blood moves outwards
allowing heat loss.
2
Effect of cold on the body
Blood moves inwards to
maintain vital heat.
3
Comparison of
The Lymphatic and
Circulatory System
Lymphatic System follows
the Circulatory System.
Take care if prescribing this technique to a person who is suffering
from a heart condition or high blood pressure as this may shock their
system. In addition, you may need to consider the shock aspect with
pregnant women.
1
What do I need?
To perform this technique you simply require a normal household
shower. It is beneficial to have a shower with a good temperature
control system so that you can set the temperature according to
your body’s limits.
Instructions
To perform the hot and cold showering technique:
Case Example
1. Firstly, have a normal warm shower.
2. After completing a normal wash shower, turn the temperature
gauge to cold and remain in the shower until the body feels cold.
3. When the body feels cold, turn the gauge back to hot and remain
in the shower until the body feels hot.
4. Complete this process three times in total and be sure to finish on
a cold shower.

Please note that to begin with the body may not be able to cope
with vast differences in temperature as everyone’s body responds
differently. Set the temperatures at levels which suit the body and
then slowly increase the temperature differential over time.
What are the effects?
Illiac lymph

Hot and cold showers have the same effect upon lymph as skin
brushing but normally to a greater degree. They can make you feel
refreshed and alert, having kick-started your system into action.
Many people experience sore
throats. In a situation like M.E.,
this often occurs each week and
the lymph glands usually begin
to swell in the neck area. If this
situation is left unsupported, the
body will want to create a fever
to heat itself and to accelerate
movement. In M.E., however,
the body’s energy is lacking and
so it is unable to take the action
required to shift the stagnation.
This is where hot and cold
showers become invaluable
because they are able to supply
energy to the body to get the
system started and to begin to
move the stagnation.

Hot and Cold Tubbing
Hot and Cold Tubbing
This technique is a deeper, more extreme version of the hot and cold
showering. Due to this it has the potential to create a great deal of
change from a position of extreme stagnation.
Chapter 4
What does it do?
Hot and cold tubbing is able to take the body to extremes of
temperature and therefore can create a great deal of movement:
When the body is heated up to create a
raised temperature, this:
• helps melt the cholesterol layer surrounding the cell which hinders
the elimination of toxins held within. Once this layer has been
melted, toxins can leave the cell and enter the lymphatic system
for removal.

• heats up the lymphatic system. With this additional heat the lymph
becomes thinner and more fluid. It is then able to deal with the
extra workload and move the toxins further out of the system ready
for excretion.
• makes the blood move to the surface to allow the body to lose
some of its excess heat. This, (as in hot and cold showering),
promotes even more movement within the lymphatic system to
aid effective elimination.
• opens the skin which enables more elimination to occur through
that route.

When the body is then cooled down, it:
Instructions
• produces latent heat from deep within to warm itself to counteract
the cold conditions. This movement of heat from within the body to
the outside creates a very deep movement resulting in increased
energy for elimination.
1. Lie in a bath containing hot water (normal bath temperature).
2. Apply a cool, wet towel to the head to ensure that the head does
not get too hot.
3. Add hot water to the bath gradually to begin raising the body
temperature. Continue adding hot water until either the
temperature becomes too much or body temperature has reached
102˚F. It is not safe to raise the body temperature to more than
102˚F unless you are in a supervised clinical environment. Be sure
to monitor the body temperature throughout by placing the
thermometer in the mouth.
4. When enough time has been spent in the hot water (every
person’s limits are different), or when body temperature has been
maintain at 102˚F for 20 minutes, start to add cold water to the
bath. This will gradually start to bring the body temperature down.
5. Take the bath temperature down to a cold but manageable level
and lie in it until the body is feeling very cold.
6. Once this cold state has been reached, leave the bath and go to
bed with a hot water bottle. The body will then start to produce
latent heat in order to return the body temperature to normal.
Keep checking the body temperature with the thermometer to
ensure that the temperature is increasing at a steady rate. Warm
socks and hats can be used if required.
When should I apply hot and cold tubbing?
As this technique is so good for creating deep change within a
person, it needs to be used with care and at the correct time. It is a
wonderful way to promote elimination but you must be sure that in
doing it, you are not overloading the system giving rise to a different
set of problems. It would not be wise to hot and cold tub if you
have not already made some changes to help open up the routes
of elimination.
This technique is invaluable in cases where the cells are overlycoated by cholesterol (the cause of this is described in the
Dehydration Alert lecture, Session 2, Lecture 1), the heat applied
during the technique causes the cholesterol to melt. This leaves the
cell membrane more porous and able to excrete effectively.
We often use this technique where the body temperature is very low
(due to high levels of toxicity and dehydration) and when the body is
showing signs of viral activity. We have noticed that in diseases
attributed to viral activity there is not only a low body temperature,
but also difficulty with adapting to hot and cold (often on exertion
patients in this condition are quickly too hot and on resting they
become too cold).
It can also be used by people who are not showing significant
symptoms but simply want to help the body flush out toxins. It is a
wonderful way to cleanse the cells and help the body reach a state
where it can complete its detoxification cycles with ease.
Ideally, this technique is used before bed so the person can sleep
through the night.
Do not use this technique where there is a risk of haemorrhaging,
high blood pressure or in pregnancy. Also avoid just after eating as it
may cause nausea.
What do I need?
What are the effects?
Hot and cold tubbing can produce different effects depending upon
the person. Often people feel very relaxed and tired, but others can
feel invigorated and ready for action. Occasionally, a temporary
feeling of nausea (due to bile release), or light headiness (due to a
reduction in blood pressure), can occur.
Case Example
Some of the most exciting work done with hot and cold tubbing
has been done by Douglas Lewis (Basteur Institute, Seattle). He
observed that the H.I.V. virus was only able to sustain itself in low
body temperatures. He reasoned that if you heat the patients up
and provide them with an artificial fever, changes will occur which
make survival non-viable for the virus. Douglas Lewis elevates the
temperature to 104˚F for one hour, twice a week for patients
suffering with Aids.
To perform a hot and cold tub you require:
• a normal household bath
• a thermometer
• a small towel
• a hot water bottle (to help warm the person
at the end of the technique)
• another person to help oversee the technique
and provide support if required

Hot Tub Cold Wrap
Hot Tubbing followed
by a Cold Wrap
Chapter 5
This technique is exactly the same as hot and cold tubbing but the
cold tubbing section is replaced by a cold, damp wrap.
What does it do?
The hot tubbing does exactly the same as described in the
previous technique.
The addition of the cold, damp wrap takes the place of the cold
tubbing in the previous technique. It works in the same way but has
additional advantages.
Advantages of using a cold wrap over cold tubbing:
• it encourages the production of latent heat from a deeper level
within the body as the body not only has to return its own
temperature back to normal, it also has to work much harder in
order to dry and warm the wrap to ensure the correct body
temperature is maintained.
• it creates latent heat for a longer period of time due to longer
exposure to the cold and wet conditions.

To perform a hot tub with a cold wrap you require:
• a normal household bath
• a thermometer
• a small towel
• a sheet (1/2 of a single sheet)
• polythene sheets (to protect bed)
• a hot water bottle (to help warm the person at the end of
the technique)
• another person to help oversee the technique and provide

Instructions
Case Example
Appendicitis – this occurs when
the level of toxicity in the
appendix area has become so
high that extreme inflammation
and pain is manifested.
This technique moves the
toxicity away from the painful,
inflamed area out through the
skin via the lymphatic system
without challenging other
vital organs.
22
1. Place the polythene sheets on your bed to protect it from the
cold wrap.
2. Prepare the cold wrap by soaking a sheet in cold water, wringing
it out and placing it in the freezer for the duration of the hot
tubbing stage.
3. Lie in a bath containing hot water (normal bath temperature).
4. Apply a cool, wet towel to the head to ensure that the head does
not get too hot.
5. Add hot water to the bath at a gradual rate to begin raising the
body temperature. Continue adding hot water until either the
temperature becomes too much or body temperature has reached
102˚F. It is not safe to raise the body temperature to more than
102˚F unless you are in a supervised clinical environment. Be sure
to monitor the body temperature throughout by placing a
thermometer in the mouth.
6. When enough time has been spent in the hot water (every
person’s limits are different), or body temperature has been
maintained at 102˚F for 20 minutes, carefully get out of the bath.
7. Wrap the body in the cold wrap (ideally, from neck to feet, but
usually under the arms down to the thighs is more comfortable)
then go to bed with a hot water bottle. The body will start
producing latent heat in order to return its temperature to normal.
Keep checking the body temperature with the thermometer to
ensure that the temperature is increasing at a steady rate. Warm
socks and hats can be used if required.
What are the effects?

Sitz Bath
Sitz Bath
This technique is very similar to the hot and cold showering
technique, but it allows for more precise targeting of the pelvic
region of the body.
Chapter 6
It is aimed at creating movement within the circulatory system which
in turn creates a knock-on effect within the lymphatic system. The
lymphatic system travels around the body in very close proximity to
the blood circulatory system and so anything which speeds up
circulation will help create movement within the lymph.
What does it do?
A sitz bath brings movement and energy to the pelvic organs
(i.e. the reproductive system, bladder and bowel).
When the body is subjected to heat (e.g. hot water), the blood will
move in greater volume to the surface of the body (i.e. the skin).
This enables the body to lose heat more readily to ensure an even
temperature is maintained within the body’s vital organs.
When the body is subjected to cold (e.g. cold water), the blood will
move in greater volume to the inner body. This enables the body to
keep the inner vital organs warm and ensure that a balanced
temperature is maintained at all times.

When should I apply a Sitz bath?
A sitz bath is invaluable when you wish to stimulate movement within
the pelvic organs. It is especially useful in muscular weakness
(e.g. weak bladder).
Do not apply this technique when there is any danger of
haemorrhaging or during pregnancy.

Epsom Salt Bath
Epsom Salt Bath
This technique focuses on the skin as a route of elimination. The skin
is the largest organ of elimination and therefore can be an invaluable
route for eliminating toxicity if the other organs are struggling.
Chapter 7
What does it do?
Epsom salts (Magnesium Sulphate) has the effect of drawing
toxicity / acidity (especially uric acid) towards itself. As a result,
when you bathe in a high solution of Epsom salts it draws out toxicity
from within the body through the skin into the solution. It is interesting
to note that Epsom salts is often used to bring boils to a head, clearly
showing this attraction between itself and toxicity.
The bath itself heats the body up thus opening up the cell
membranes to release toxicity. It also thins the lymph to help with
the extra workload and encourages the blood to come to the
surface (the skin).

When should I apply an Epsom salts bath?
This technique is beneficial for anyone who is undertaking a
detoxification programme or has problems completing their daily
elimination processes. It is especially useful to soothe aching muscles
or joints and can be employed after heavy exertion or with conditions
such as arthritis.
Aching muscles and joints – in this situation the Epsom salt bath will

Foot Baths
Foot Baths / Wraps
Although footbaths have less effect on the body than the full body
tubbing techniques, they are able to concentrate their action on a
major area of elimination, the soles of the feet.
Chapter 8
• This lesser effect can be used to our advantage when treating
people who need to take their treatment very slowly at the
beginning. Rather than subjecting them to full body tubbing, which
creates a lot of change, we can start things moving gently by
employing various types of footbath.
• This technique is particularly suitable for people who do not have a
bath installed in their home or for people who are unable to get in
and out of the bath.
MUSTARD FOOTBATH
What does it do?
As with the tubbing techniques, a mustard footbath aims to create an
artificially high temperature within the body. This temperature thins
the body fluids, creates movement and causes the body to sweat
and detoxify via the skin.

COLD FOOT WRAP
What does it do?
This technique draws the blood supply down to the feet in an
attempt to warm them and restore the temperature balance within
the body. As a result, the rest of the body loses heat (especially the
head), when the feet become the focus for the blood supply.
When should I use a cold foot wrap?
This technique is very useful for two conditions:
• Fevers – if you wish to bring down the temperature of the head.
• Overactive brain before sleep. Many people suffer from an
overactive brain prior to sleep. This technique draws the blood
away from the head which tends to give the brain a space to
relax and sleep.
What do I need?
To perform a cold foot wrap you require:
• one pair of cotton socks
• one pair of woollen socks
Instructions
1. Soak the cotton socks in cold water and rinse.
2. Place them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes.
3. When very cold, put these cotton socks on your feet.
4. On top of these, place the warm woollen socks on your feet.
5. Go to bed.
To perform an Epsom salts footbath you need:
• a footbath (the size of a washing up bowl)
• Epsom salts (4 tablespoons)
• a blanket

Castor Oil Packing
Castor Oil Packing
Castor oil (known as the Palma Christi oil) packing is probably the
ultimate technique for bringing energy to any area of the body which
is struggling to shift stagnation.
Chapter 9
What does it do?
It is very hard to find a complete explanation as to why castor oil has
such healing properties but its results are comprehensively
documented. We also know it has been used for thousands of years
by ancient civilisations.
Within Natural Nutrition, we see it working in the following way.
Castor oil is known to emit white light (“apparently colourless light
containing all the wavelengths of the visible spectrum at equal
intensity, such as ordinary daylight”). One explanation for its
effectiveness is that the white light may penetrate the cell giving it the
energy to promote movement thereby lessening the stagnation.
In addition, it is known that the cell produces its own measurable
light in the form of biophotons, from within its DNA. It is possible that
the action of castor oil packing may promote this creation of cellular
light which is used as energy for healing.

Castor oil packing can be used in any situation where the body

benefits all situations with the exception of hypertension and
haemorrhaging problems. Avoid using it during pregnancy and
menstruation. When applying castor oil packing there is a constant
rule to be applied: wherever the problem area may be, you should
always pack the liver first. This ensures that this main route of
elimination is open and ready to receive toxicity from the troubled
area. Once the liver has been opened, you can return to the problem
area to apply a castor oil pack to release the stagnation.
LIVER
To perform a castor oil pack you require:
• a piece of unbleached brushed cotton or woollen material
(27 inches by 12 inches)
• a bottle of castor oil
• a roll of cling film or similar material
• a hot water bottle

Instructions
1. Fold the unbleached cotton into double or treble thickness.
2. Place the material on a flat surface.
The frequency of castor oil packing will vary from case to case but
we would recommend that even in extreme cases it should not be
implemented more than 5 days per week. Classically, pack 3 times
per week for 3 weeks per month (women avoid the menstrual week).
3. Pour on enough castor oil to cover the cloth well, but avoid
pouring so much that it starts to drip.
4. Place the oily cloth over the liver area:
What are the effects?
On completion of this technique (or even during it), there is usually
a feeling of deep relaxation and soothing. Pain and spasms
normally subside.
Case Example
Adhesions following surgery – castor oil packing used as soon as
possible after the surgery prevents the formation of hard scar tissue
and adhesions. Bronchitis – the castor oil packing to the lungs
stimulates lymph movement and the draining of the congested
lung tissue. This exits via the liver which has been prepared by
packing beforehand.
5. Wrap cling film over the cloth and around your body to keep the
pack in place.
6. Put on some old clothing in case there are any leakages.
7. Relax and place a warm hot water bottle over the liver area and
leave for one hour. (In extreme situations, a longer duration may
be required).
8. After you have packed the liver, you may then repeat the above
process in order to pack any specific areas of discomfort. You
must ensure that the liver has been packed first as it will have to
deal with any toxicity shifted by packing other areas of the body.

Enemas
Enemas
Enemas are a very ancient technique in the world of healing. The
action of an enema will depend upon the therapeutic effect of the
substance added to the enema.
Chapter 10
WATER ENEMA
Chapter 11
What does it do?
A water enema introduces approximately one litre of water into the
colon. This can have the following effects:
a) It creates movement within the colon encouraging it to release
stored faeces.
b) It stimulates the reflex points within the colon. These reflex points
are connected to the entire body. Stimulating these reflexes will
release stagnation in their respective areas.
c) Movement within the colon stimulates movement and release of
mucous from within the lymphatic system.
d) Water held in the colon will be absorbed into the body quickly,
helping hydration.
When should I apply a Water Enema?

When should I apply an Aloe Vera Enema?
Often on completion of this technique people feel light and fresh.
Sometimes light headedness can occur so rest is required.
Occasionally, if the body is dehydrated, the colon will retain all of the
water so no evacuation takes place.
An aloe vera enema is ideally suited to any inflammatory conditions

COFFEE ENEMA
Chapter 14
What does it do?
The pharmacologically active part of the coffee is absorbed into the
haemorrhoidal vein (within the colon) and is transported through the
portal system into the liver.
When the coffee arrives, it causes the liver to contract and squeeze
its toxic bile out through the common bile duct into the duodenum
and then out through the rest of the digestive tract.
This contraction clears the liver and leaves it in a much better state to
continue with its detoxification role.

Coffee enemas are extremely useful when a detoxification programme
is under way. They will help accelerate the liver’s ability to detoxify and
therefore will reduce any risk of overload resulting in auto-intoxication.
They can also be implemented in an acute liver problem (e.g.

electrolytes (Ca, Mg, K and Na) which can cause stress in some
cases. If overused or used in the wrong situation, people can feel
stress within the kidneys and adrenals due to this diuresis.
It also can be used as an alternative where people should not use
coffee enemas, such as when they are very dehydrated and where
the loss of electrolytes could cause problems. Choline bitartrate will
be gentler on the kidneys and the adrenals than a coffee enema in
situations where these areas need protection.
As coffee enemas have profound effects, we always recommend that
they are used within a supervised programme.

Camomile is a sedative and when added to a water enema is
absorbed via the haemorrhoidal vein (as with coffee enemas). It

are more effective at rehydration than a plain water enema.
What are the effects?
When should I apply a Flaxseed Tea Enema?
Often on completion of this technique people feel very calm,
especially within the digestive system.
This technique can be very useful in the following situations:
• At the start of treatment to promote hydration.
• Any inflamed conditions of the colon.
• To help sedate the kidneys when they are struggling to
function well.
MAGNESIUM ENEMA
Chapter 17
What does it do?
What does it do?
Do not use this technique if there is a prolapsed organ in the pelvic area
or if haemorrhoids or excessive bleeding from the colon is a problem.
Magnesium is a muscle relaxant. When added to a water enema it is
absorbed by the colon and relaxes the body’s muscles.
What do I need?
When should I apply a Magnesium Enema?
• See “What do I need” in
“HOW TO DO AN ENEMA (General Description)” (Page 49).
This technique can be very useful in the following situations:
• Where muscles have gone into spasm (e.g. back problems).
• At the onset of a migraine if the early symptoms are neck and
shoulder tension.
• Cramping at the onset of menstruation can be relieved with a
magnesium enema.
Instructions
1. Make the linseed tea by placing 2 tablespoons of linseeds into 1
litre of water, bring to the boil, remove from the heat, cover and
leave to stand for 12 hours (overnight). Return to the boil and then
turn down until gently simmering and continue simmering for 1
hour. Remove from the heat and immediately sieve the seeds away
from the thickened fluid, dispose of the seeds and keep the fluid.
2. Add water to the linseed tea until you have produced 2 pints of body
temperature fluid which can flow easily through the enema bag (add
more water if required to achieve this but limit enema to 2 pints).
3. Follow instructions No.2-10 in “HOW TO DO AN ENEMA
(General Description)” (Page 49).
• Timings – hold for 20 minutes, and then expel.
Do not use this technique if there is a prolapsed organ in the pelvic
area or if haemorrhoids are a problem.
What do I need?
• See “What do I need” in
“HOW TO DO AN ENEMA (General Description)” (Page 49).
Instructions
Case Example
Heavy cramping following
rigorous exercise – this
technique can help relax the
muscles in this situation.
46
1. Dissolve 1-3 capsules of Magnesium Citrate (each delivering
100mg of elemental magnesium) in a cup by pouring on hot water
(Total absorption is not possible, there will be powder residue on
top of the water).
2. Pour the magnesium solution into a 2 pint jug and make up to one
and a half to two pints with filtered water. Be sure to test it is at
body temperature.
3. Follow instructions No.2-10 in “HOW TO DO AN ENEMA
(General Description)” (Page 49).
• Timings – hold for 15-30 minutes, and then expel.

Page 48
When should I apply a Flaxseed oil Enema?
Instructions
This technique can be very useful in the following situations:
• At the start of treatment to promote a great deal of photon / electron
activity (Johanna Budwig gave this as her first prescription).
• Where people are unable to take oil orally due to digestive difficulties.
• At the time of natural events, to maximise their effects
(e.g. equinoxes).
* It can be beneficial to do a camomile enema (page 45) before an
oil implant.
1. Warm the required amount of flaxseed oil to body temperature by
placing the bottle in a jug of warm water.
2. When the oil is warm draw it up into the pipette.
3. Lubricate your anal area.
4. Insert nozzle and squeeze the bulb of the pipette. This pushes the
oil into the rectal area. Be sure to keep the bulb compressed
constantly until all of the oil has entered the rectum and the nozzle
has been removed.
• Timings – ideally, hold overnight. It may not reappear, if it does, expel.
Do not use this technique if there is a prolapsed organ in the pelvic
area or if haemorrhoids are a problem.
What do I need?
• See “What do I need” in
“HOW TO DO AN ENEMA (General Description)” (Page 49).
Instructions
1. Warm a bottle (250-500ml) of flaxseed oil to body temperature by
placing it into a jug of warm water.
2. Follow instructions No.2-10 in “HOW TO DO AN ENEMA
(General Description)” (Page 49).
3. Pour hot, soapy water through the enema bag to clean.
4. Follow the flaxseed oil enema with a water enema to clear the
colon of oil.
• Timings – hold for 60 minutes, and then expel.
What are the effects?
On completion of this technique people often feel a state of calmness
and connectedness.
What does it do?
It does exactly the same as described in the Flaxseed Oil enema
section but it performs these functions over a longer period of time.
When should I apply a Flaxseed Oil Implant?
This technique can be very useful in the following situations:
• Where people are unable to take oil orally due to digestive difficulties.
• At the time of natural events, to maximise their effects
(e.g. equinoxes).
What do I need?
• 1 implant pipette
• 15-60ml of flaxseed oil

Inability to stomach taking oils
orally – an oil implant would
bypass the problems.
What are the effects?
On completion of this technique people often feel calm, as if the
nervous system has benefited.
HOW TO DO AN ENEMA (General Description)
What do I need?
To perform an enema you require:
• a gravity feed enema bag or bucket
• a two pint jug
• the fluid to be used for the enema (this will vary depending
upon the type of enema – see specific enema types)
• a pillow
• something to protect the floor from fluid (plastic sheet etc.)
• lubrication
• a hook upon which to hang the enema bag
• a clock for timing
FLAXSEED OIL IMPLANT (MINI ENEMA)
Chapter 20
Case Example
Instructions
1. Prepare the enema fluid (as described in specific enema types).
2. Hang the enema bag / bucket on the hook so that the bottom
of it is about one metre above the position you will lie in.
3. Pour the enema fluid into the bag / bucket having first checked
that the tap is closed.
4. Release the air in the tube by allowing a small amount of fluid to
run through.
5. Lubricate your anal area.
6. Prepare the floor area (with protective material) and then lie down
on your back with your knees up, or if preferred, lie on your right
side. The pillow should be used to support your head.
7. Insert the smaller nozzle (Note the larger one is for a vaginal
douche) into your anus.
8. Open the tap and allow the fluid to gently enter. Massage your
abdomen as the fluid is entering.
9. Hold the fluid for the specified time (as described in specific enema
types). Massage your abdomen if you experience problems with wind.
10. On completion, move to the toilet to evacuate the enema.
Notes:
a) A water enema may be
advisable before any other
enema to clear the bowel
in preparation.
b) The quantity of fluid stated
may need to be reduced to
avoid any difficulties holding.
c) Enemas often become easier if
you are submerged in a bath of
warm water as the abdominal
muscles are able to relax.
d) It is not advisable to do
enemas when hungry.
e) It is not advisable to do
stimulating enemas before bed.
f) Retention enemas can be used
for re-nurturing, e.g. vitamins,
minerals or vegetable juices.
They can be useful where
there is excessive vomiting,
e.g. some pregnancies.

Clysmatics
Clysmatics
What does it do?
Chapter 21
Clysmatics push a pressured flow of water into the colon which is
allowed to build up until a strong desire to empty the colon is
created. Once emptied, the colon then refills with water until another
release is required. This process is completed several times.
The unique design of the clysmatic allows the inflow nozzle to remain
in the anus whilst the bowel evacuation is taking place. This design
feature protects the clean water (waiting to enter the colon) from the
evacuation (using a valve) and ensures that the technique can be
completed without the need for re-insertion.
Note:
You can also add any of the
substances added to enemas
(apart from oil) to enhance the
therapeutic effects of the water,
(e.g. choline bitartrate).
This constant flushing of water in and out of the colon removes
mucous and faeces. The main purpose of this technique, however, is
to stimulate all the reflexes within the colon. This stimulation is similar
to an internal massage which has the potential to create movement
and release in all parts of the body.

When should I apply a Clysmatic?
This technique can be very useful in the following situations:
• Where persistent constipation is a problem, this technique will clear
the bowel and tone the muscles helping to re-educate the bowel.
• During a cleansing programme to help stimulate deep tissue release.
• In stagnant lymphatic situations.
Do not use this technique if there is a prolapsed organ in the pelvic
area or if haemorrhoids are a problem. It is also advisable to avoid
during pregnancy.
What do I need?
• 1 Clysmatic
• A lubricant
• Water (5-8 litres)
Instructions
1. Set the Clysmatic up as described in the
manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Fill the container with clean water (5-8 litres).
3. Lubricate the anal region.
4. Sit upon the nozzle.
5. Open the tap to allow the water to flow through.
6. Whilst water is entering, contract the anal sphincter allowing
the water to fill up the colon.
7. When the pressure becomes uncomfortable, release anal
sphincter to release bowel contents.
8. Repeat this process until the reservoir of water is emptied.
What are the effects?
On completion of this technique people often feel light-headed so
rest is recommended.
Case Example
Long term constipation - this technique is often used in this
situation as it is able to empty the bowel and help it regain its
muscular integrity.

Colonics
Colonics
What does it do?
A colonic passes 15 litres of water through the colon. The speculum
used enables water to flow in and waste to leave simultaneously. The
water is built up to fill the entire colon by pinching the waste pipe. When
the water reaches the ileo coecal valve the colon will create an energetic
flush pushing the contents of the colon out through the waste pipe. The
first 5 litres of water are administered with the client lying on their left
side so that the cleansing mainly takes place in the descending colon.
The second 5 litres and third 5 litres are usually administered with the
client lying on their back (with their knees up) so that the water can
reach the far side of the colon. This position also enables the abdomen
to be massaged to facilitate a better colon cleanse.
Chapter 22
The constant flushing of water in and out of the colon removes mucous
and faeces. The main purpose of this technique, however, is to
stimulate all the reflexes within the colon. This stimulation is similar to an
internal massage which has the potential to create movement and

When should I apply a Colonic?
This technique can be very useful in the following situations:
• Where consistent constipation is a problem, this technique will clear
the bowel and tone the muscle helping to re-educate the bowel.
• During a cleansing programme to help stimulate deep tissue release.
• In stagnant lymphatic situations.
• Before and after a fast.

Using Urine Externally
Urine Therapy
What does it do?
External use of urine promotes the drawing out of inflammation and
misplaced / excess sodium from within the tissues. This process
leads to the re-balancing of the electrolytes and an improvement to
the body’s charge and pH.
Chapter 23
How to collect your urine
Collect your first passing in the morning time:
1. Clean yourself.
2. Start urination, collect the midstream specimen
(not beginning or end) in a collection jar.
3. Store the urine in a glass bottle and place cotton wool in the
top of the bottle to cover.
4. Keep in a cool place and store for 3 days.
5. The urine is best used between day 3 and day 10 from when it
was collected as during these days the urine undergoes a critical
chemical change.

your face and neck (rub until dry).
3. Then go to the feet and work your way up, rubbing the whole
body (until dry).
4. Repeat the rubbing into your face and neck.
5. This rubbing process should be maintained for as long as is
possible, for up to 1 hour. About 20 minutes is considered a
good minimum.
6. Finally, clean yourself in a hot shower followed by a cold shower.
Make sure to only use your hands, do not use any gloves or
brushes. If you are short of time just rub your face, neck, palms

Urine Pack
1. Acquire something like a tea towel-sized piece of material
(plain, unbleached).
2. Wet this material thoroughly (but not so that it is dripping) with the
urine, (better if at least 3 days old but use fresh if really necessary).
3. Place the material on the area you wish to pack and leave on for
up to one hour (no additional heat required).
Drinking Urine
The drinking of urine has been used extensively all over the world and
by many generations throughout history.
What does it do?
Urine packs can be applied anywhere on the body:
Kidneys – the kidneys respond exceptionally well to packing
especially in conditions such as cystitis and nephritis. As the
kidneys are the seat of fear, in any situation where that needs
some attention kidney packing can also be very helpful.
Lymphatic System – some great results have been seen
when placing a urine pack to areas of the body where lymph
nodes have been removed. They create a cleanse and start
shifting stagnation.
The Thyroid – this is a good area to pack to create
movement. Conditions such as hypothyroidism respond well
to packing.
Other useful areas to apply urine externally
Ears – for earache, a few drops of fresh or older urine into a painful
ear will help alleviate the pain. If mothers need to do this for their
child, either the child’s or mother’s urine will work.
Eyes – it is good to rinse the eyes with fresh urine (using an eye bath)
from the first and last passing of the day. It helps the eyes feel
soothed and clear and can be very useful for conjunctivitis.
Sinuses – using a nasal dropper, you can sniff fresh urine to help
clear the sinuses.
Hair – pour a fresh morning specimen over the hair, wrap in a towel
and leave for one hour before shampooing and washing your hair.
This helps stimulate the scalp and correct the pH. Be aware that
urine may affect hair dyes.
Drinking urine creates a push and a pull effect on toxicity. By drinking
it you are drinking an exact match to your own vibration (Isopathy).
The effect of drinking your urine will cause a deep release of toxicity
at cellular level. This toxicity must be helped to leave the body and so
urine rubs (and often other techniques) should always accompany
drinking urine to ensure that the body does not become overloaded.
Gradual stage by stage approach
As this is an extremely powerful technique, we suggest that you build
it up over time to ensure that you do not become overloaded:
1. To begin with, just rinse the mouth out with a fresh midstream
morning specimen. This is extremely good for gingivitis and plaque.
2. Gargle with some fresh midstream morning specimen.
3. Drink a few sips from a fresh midstream evening specimen (when
most diluted), increase dose over time.
4. Drink a few sips from a fresh midstream morning specimen
(stronger), increase dose over time.
It is not advisable to drink urine if meat is consumed in any
large quantities.
If drugs are being taken, the urine may need to be potentized or
diluted to soften the effect.
If taking urine internally, always implement the urine rubs alongside
the technique so that the push of drinking is matched by the release
created by the rubbing.
Areas of eczema – rubbing fresh or occasionally older urine on
eczema helps to remove irritation and helps to soothe the skin. It can
be helpful to mix urine with a moisturiser if the skin is very dry.
Nipple preparation for breast feeding – urine applied to the nipple
area helps to avoid sore or crack nipples during feeding.

Conclusion
When we understand that healing requires extra energy, and that
detoxification needs to take place before re-nurturing can happen,
we can fully appreciate the role and importance of the techniques.
I call them ‘Old-fashioned nursing’, rousing the healing energies
within a person to resolve a situation rather than suppressing a
symptom. If healing is about creating freedom and movement on
all levels, we need to address letting go of old patterns and
accumulated toxins.
The raising of energies to create acute illnesses is extremely important
on the journey of reducing our chronic load. With techniques, we can
produce artificial fevers to give the body back what it has lost over
time due to suppressive treatments and loss of energy.
To summarise
• Each of the techniques (as we see) highlight a particular route for
elimination (see diagram accompanying each technique). When a
person describes a problem we will be able to see how we can
relieve that by suggesting a particular technique.
• We can see how the extra pressure put upon the body during the
healing process can easily be helped by employing techniques.
• Please always refer to the initial diagrams, which show how
elimination should flow from the cell to the outside and how it
can be backed up if the liver is overloaded.
• Please respect the techniques as they can be very powerful and
very healing when employed at the correct time.
• Always make sure that the patient is giving you their full picture
before you recommend a technique.
I do hope that you enjoy using the techniques as a method of
accelerating your healing journey.
