HD4 Under phone/Desk or Wall mount Emergency Call Dialler – Including
pendant
This model differs from its competition in almost every aspect. One significant
difference is its aesthetic design, which makes it ideally suited to wall or desk
mounting in addition to the traditional under phone placement if required. It uses the
highly developed and proven circuit and firmware of the HP3/Blue-Phone analogue
telephone with top mounted speaker for maximum quality voice communication.
It includes the same HP3 Phone version 48 wireless inputs, 8 destinations and home
security facilities etc. Programming is made easy by the use of the adjacent normal
telephone keypad and comprehensive remote programming is also possible. See
Multicode-09 for hard-wired inputs.
Includes plug-pack, handbook, line cord and single pendant. See Accessories for

Door-Alert Wanderer wrist/ankle band transmitter [Essential Part]
This small dimension waterproof wrist transmitter has a battery life of up to 10 years
in sleep mode. Once activated by use of a magnet this transmitter commences to
transmit each 400MSec (0.4 second) allowing active battery life of typically 12
months. It may also be deactivated via a magnet to allow storage. Battery supervision
and monitoring is also provided.
Each wrist transmitter has a slightly different transmit code thereby allowing individual
identification of the wanderer if used within a multi/door/multi person centralized
system or if using the optional TTest-01 Door tester unit. At sites where busy 433Mhz
wireless systems exist it is possible to use the 315Mhz alternative frequency.
Each transmitter is supplied with wrist/Ankle strap. See Spares & Accessories

whereby removal of pressure generates the alarm condition.
Measuring 760mm x 510mm the low cost BPLB-01 pad is classified as a

Chair Exit Pad – Hard-wired (1 Year Warranty)
Where a chair is in close proximity to a call-point this chair exit sensor can be hardwired to its BMS-01 or BME-01 controller listed below. It will trigger an alarm along
with audible tone in the event of the resident leaving or falling from the chair.
With wheel chairs it is more practical to use a wireless connection to the exit pad and
there are a number of scenarios that will allow a chair exit alarm to be identified along
with the location of the event. These options include teaching the chair pad
transmitter into the resident’s bedside call-point and/or teaching it into one or more
site-wide Safe-T-Net receivers.

CORDLESS DEMENTIA ROOM SYSTEM 304Mhz
Transportable (cordless) Dementia Room Controller
Deploying the 304Mhz frequency that automatically makes available a wide range of
wireless sensor devices the DEMRAD unit with its optional telephone wall-mounting
bracket can become the communications hub of a high care or dementia specific
care room.
It is capable of accommodating and controlling bed-exit, bed-wet, room exit, pacing,
overdue from Ensuite, Nurse-Call, Staff Assist and Cancel functions much the same
as the alternative fully cabled and permanently equipped rooms. It also allows the
facility to be a wireless ‘overlay’ to an existing nurse-call system.
Being a short-haul wireless device, the DEMRAD controller can simply be located on
the top shelf of the wardrobe or elsewhere. It is not affected by other DEMRAD
installations and it needs only a 12v dc power supply. If located near the bed it can be
powered from the existing battery backed nurse-call power source.
As a general guide it should be noted that almost all of the many sensors listed and
illustrated in Part B of this catalogue can be applied to the DEMRAD unit from time to
time and on a room to room basis as required.

STAFF DURESS OH&S SYSTEMS [GST Exempt & TGA Approved]
Description
‘SAFETY-T-NET’ STAFF DURESS SYSTEM 304Mhz
Integrated Nurse-Call System ‘SAFE-T-NET’ Umbrella
In addition to providing comprehensive monitoring for ‘Residents on the move’ or for
accommodating wireless accessories this low cost optional facility known as the
‘Safe-T-Net’ System comprises low cost 100-channel wireless receivers connected to
Nurse-call System Area Controllers.
It offers the benefit of personal wearer duress identification and (approximate)
location within a Smart-Caller SmartCare-1000 or Smart-Care-500 hard-wired nursecall system.
Smart-Caller Radiant-1000 & 500 systems already possess such capability by virtue
of their use of wireless devices including personal pendants and wrist worn
transmitters.
This technique also offers the benefit of ‘short haul’ wireless transmission whereby
the ‘long-haul’ aspects are carried by the cabled infrastructure and are subject to
constant polling thereby providing a ‘supervised’ facility.
Battery monitoring and reporting is applicable to all wireless transmitting devices.
The use of Extension Receivers, Range Extenders (Repeaters) and Transponder
devices provides extended coverage but dilutes the ability to identify the person’s
location. It is therefore important to consider various options prior to installing a
system.
The illustration also shows the nurse-call computer delivering SMS Duress calls to onsite and/or off-site mobile phone destination/s via a GSM/GPRS fixed Wireless
Transmitter (GSM USP Dongle).
Alternatively a Smart-Caller HD4 Dialler may be used to deliver a general
announcement voice to multiple destinations and/or data to central monitoring
service.

DURALINK SYSTEM SITE WIDE STAFF ALERT DURESS SYSTEM 304Mhz
DURALINK Supervised long range duress & general purpose communication system
‘Caring for Carers’
For sites that include many buildings and/or locations throughout a large site the
throughout site
Duralink Transponder System offers special benefits whereby it is capable of
delivering normal 304Mhz wireless traffic (which is normally limited to approximately
50-80M range) to be delivered up to 600M distant.
Up to 99 Transponders can be included in a single system each having its own
polling identification. Each Transponder within the system has its unique identification
and is being constantly polled by the base station and failure to respond to a polled
handshake will cause a trouble report. Calls delivered by a transponder automatically
receive a confirmation response from the base unit.
The Duralink has multiple applications whereby it can operate as a site-wide nursecall or Duress system or be applied to similar applications in building construction
sites or other industrial and commercial applications.
The system is also ideally suited to ‘stand-alone’ operation whereby it has no
dependency on existing communication infrastructures or central equipment.

SITE-WIDE STAFF ALERT DURESS SYSTEM 915Mhz
This system comprises a fully configurable wireless duress facility for health and

with wide ranging
portable wrist strap emergency transmitters, wall-mounting call and cancel points
functions)
including pull-cord activation etc. The caller ID and battery monitoring is carried when
using suitably equipped receiving devices a number of which are described below.
To satisfy OH&S requirements wireless indictor lights with sound alerting facilities
along with off-site dial-up capabilities are included in the overall range of equipment.
The system will satisfy the needs of a small medical centre where each Doctor’s
desk may have a hidden panic button or, using the CS-01 Desktop Care Station, the
system is capable of accommodating up to 1,000 portable and fixed call-points
covering up to eight separate locations.
Monitoring of staff, doors and machinery makes the Staff-Alert system ideal for

Apart from perimeter safe containment covered elsewhere in the catalogue, there is
now no need to relocate a resident due to the threshold effects of Alzheimer’s and

EXPLANATION

Description
EXTENSION RECEIVERS, DIVERSITY Receivers, REPEATERS & Transponders
Explanation.
• Extension Receivers can be additional receivers connected to a prime receiver or
receiver bus
• Repeater is a device that receives a signal then retransmits it as an identical
transmission
• Transponder changes the incoming signal to a different outgoing protocol,
frequency and power
Extension Receivers. If it is possible to extend a cable from a prime receiver (as
listed in section 13) to difficult reception areas, the least cost solution is to connect
one or more Extension Receivers. If using multiple extension receivers then an RJ
‘switch box’ should be used to provide independent connections into different
locations.
Diversity Receivers allow multiple receivers to be located on a communication bus
for delivery to a prime or head-end receiver.
Repeaters. These are ideal for capturing call traffic from one difficult location (such
as a separate building) and, after a short and programmable delay, repeating that call
using the same protocol and frequency but at a more efficient radiating power to
provide better range.
Transponders. These are similar to Repeaters but change the protocol, frequency
and/or power in order to change protocol, frequency or to exploit higher power
allowable on some frequencies but not on others.
Note: It is necessary to provide mains power to a Repeater or Transponder in order
to maintain battery back-up facilities, whereas an extension or diversity receiver is
powered from its parent receiver.

UHF Range Extender (Repeater)
Designed to allow the range of 304Mhz call-points, pendants and other transmitting
devices to be significantly extended to a further 150 -300M depending on building
construction constraints.
The design is such as to allow multiple WRX units to operate in the same location
due to the ability to independently set the repeat transmission and ignore same call
intervals. This allows considerable flexibility in designing wireless systems whereby
calls will be carried from repeater to repeater without the usual ‘Ping-Pong’ effects or
carrier frequency signal overlap causing corrupt signaling.
The WRX-304-01 includes a plug-pack and integral battery back-up and via its BNC
connector will allow either low efficiency ‘Rubber Ducky’ (flexi) antenna connection or
connection of efficient external or roof cavity mounted antenna via coaxial cable
connection (See antennas in section 34).
It will also accommodate the RX-EXT-01 Extension receiver which significantly
increases the input wireless range, however in doing this remember that you will
accordingly reduce the ‘pin-point’ location capabilities due to the original WPM-02 call
input coverage range being duplicated for each extension receiver fitted.

Pendant Cord with 6.3mm jack 3M
Although slightly more expensive than the PC731 version this model is better suited
to arthritic hands and is a more robust device with 1 M more length.
Like all of our quality cord pendants it has a robust cable and sealed cord-grip
section along with a right-angled 6.3mm jack, however, this version has a distinct
button press (tactile) feel and sound response as to reassure the resident/patient that
the call has been activated.
Pendant Cord with light switch button
As above but designed to also accommodate low voltage light control switching.
Whereas all other cord pendants use the tip and sleeve of the tip-ring and sleeve
6.3mm jack, this version uses ring and sleeve (sleeve is common) for the purposes
of allowing the resident to switch the light on and off via the cord pendant.
Note. Although this model operates satisfactorily into a normally configured call-point
6.3mm socket, by triggering a normal alarm by the pressing of either button, to use
the yellow light switch button as intended it is important to note that a special version
of the bedside call-point will be required along with the associated isolated latching
relay device that processes the 240v AC switching function.
See SPC-H-LIGHT faceplate which must be used in conjunction with this cord
pendant if wishing to deploy the light switch function.

Annunciator Displays
A clean power source (i.e. one having no AC content to ground) is essential to avoid
corrupt displays, this is particularly important for large Annunciator installations. It
should also be recognized that a single display can draw up to 800mW when
displaying a full screen.
Using this approved plug-pack for each display overcomes the corrupt display
problems but does not provide a battery backed facility.
Using a good quality 12v battery backed power supply offer the alternative solution
however do no allow cable runs to exceed 30M if using CAT5 cabling. Contact SmartCaller Service department for detailed information and advice.

paging groups with various duty shift call-traffic distribution requirements, all
controlled via a single WAC-07 controller.

173
NOTE. The limitation of 16 refers to the number of Address codes (similar to paging
cap codes) not to the number of Annunciator displays within the system – It is
perhaps therefore better to consider the 16 limitation as ‘zones’ where same zone
Annunciator displays would share the same address code/s.
In order to carry out the significant programming options, the WAC-07 includes a top
panel LCD display to assist in setting up the significant range of options that may be
used with each type of incoming call to each selected Display unit. In this respect it is
necessary to use the latest BESTLITE –01 Annunciator displays that are accordingly
addressable by the parent WAC-07 Controller.

WATERPROOFING
'H2' SERIES
APPLY RESIN = R
WATER PROOFING 'H2' SERIES CALL POINTS - Gaskets and Resin Sealing
All H2 series call points (except overbed with Jack) are waterproof from the front.
H2 Waterproof call points have flying leads and are supplied with scotch locks to
allow the connection to be inside the wall and away from the call point.
Waterproof call points are always supplied with a gasket.
Waterproof call points can be further waterproofed by sealing the electonics in resin
for a further cost of $6 per point. Recommended for true wet areas ie showers and
steam rooms. For resin encapsulation include an R on the end of the part number ie
CPHW-H2-APWP-01-R
Applying silicon seal around the top and side edges of a call point offers water
proofing.
For not critically wet areas you may use a standard H2 call point and also use a
gasket. Ideal for beside the toliet in an ensuit. Standard call points have RJ and
terminal block connections.
Ceiling pull cords are a good option for wet extreme wet areas.
RESIN WATER PROOFING FOR NURSE CALL POINTS
H Series waterproof call points are made with a modified PCB that allows for the
PCB to be sealed with resin, totally waterproofing the call point. Applying resin is an
extra cost and is only required for call points in very wet areas such as showers and
steam rooms.
Apply -R to end of
Call Point Part

N-CPHW-H2-WP-01N-GASKET- H2
GASKET TO FIT ALL H2 MODEL CALL POINTS
Typical use: To provide water proofing to H2 call points. This is ideal for beside the
toilet or damp areas.
For complete water proofing for shower recessed and steam rooms use the CPHWH2-WP-01-R (R=with resin encapulation of PCB) Waterproof H2 call points come
with gaskets. If you want to water proof a standard call point that has a RJ
connection for a marginally wet area the gasket is sufficient and/or also use silicon if
in doubt.

It is a popular solution to having a call-point in the shower recess, however, in higher
care situations where the nurse/carer is required to assist the resident serious
thought should be given to the alternative use of the above waterproof version wall
mounted call-points fitted at 600-650 mm AFL as the shower recess is the most likely
location that the staff will call for assistance which cannot be provided by a piece of
string connected to a ceiling call-point assembly.

Accessory faceplate with 6.3mm Socket
Prestige surface mount faceplate containing a 6.3mm socket to suit a cord pendant,
Floor mat or similar device.
Sometimes the client will require you to install this plate near the resident’s table,

pendant to be used at either location. This is better than supplying a 5M cord pendant
which is a ‘falls hazard’ and should be avoided.
A wireless pendant triggering a wireless receiver within the bedside call-point is
perhaps a better, but higher priced solution.

Room Dementia Controller Cabinet and IDF Connection Bus for hard-wired
system
The trend with new aged care establishments is to plan for future progressive fit-off
of room dementia management facilities within the initial room cabling infrastructure
and to fit the more expensive active equipment components in future on a ‘need be’
basis.
This low cost cabinet contains the punch down terminations to suit the total room,
ensuite and corridor interconnections allowing a ‘plug-and-Play’ circuit board to be
plugged in at some future date when full or partial dementia management becomes
necessary.

CORDLESS DEMENTIA ROOM SYSTEM 304Mhz
Transportable (cordless) Dementia Room Controller
Deploying the 304Mhz frequency that automatically makes available a wide range of
wireless sensor devices the DEMRAD unit with its optional telephone wall-mounting

As a general guide it should be noted that almost all of the many sensors listed and
illustrated in Part B of this catalogue can be applied to the DEMRAD unit from time to
time and on a room to room basis as required.

are used in a diffuser cap providing high intensity viewing up to 20M.
Clients often prefer not to have over-door LED assemblies, however, the installation
of these inconspicuous faceplate assemblies is recommended for two reasons as
follows:-.
These units should be ceiling mounted in order that a Carer can glance along the
corridor to detect any non-cancelled alarm conditions. It also draws immediate
attention to a fast flashing ‘Nurse Assist” condition within the adjacent room.
Over-door lights are also recommended under the standards as it provides a
‘Lifeboat” facility should the central equipment fail.

If the room’s main entrance is also close to the resident’s entry to their ensuite care
item for new
standard installations) should be taken to ensure that a resident entering or leaving the ensuite does not
trigger the PIR. In this case it would be preferable to mount the PIR on the outside of
the door in an orientation that minimizes false calls.
Similarly the PIR may be mounted across the inside of the door if such an
arrangement is likely to minimize false calls, i.e. providing horizontal view across an
open door.

21.12. N-TLC-360
(Room space PIR)
(Use this
recommended item
for new standard
installations)
Room Space PIR with 360 degree coverage
This PIR has two functions the prime function being the detection of movement within
the room to allow ‘Handover” and ‘Hand back’ of the resident entering and emerging
from the ensuite. The handover/Hand back process controls the setting in the
corridor control panel for the ensuite ‘overstay’.
Its second function is to operate as an out-of-bed sensor, however this technique is
unreliable as it depends on continued movement of the resident whereas the resident
may have fallen.
A carefully placed Model MR-90 being a 90-degree PIR is also suitable for this
application if preferred. It is essential that the field of view of this PIR shall not clash
with that located in the ensuite otherwise the handover and Hand back functions are
subject to malfunction. Failure to install a room space PIR will mean that Ensuite
monitoring will be limited to detecting entry only and the ‘overstay’ function will not be
available.
21.13. N-MR-90
(Ensuite PIR)
Ensuite PIR with 90 degree coverage
This unit will either send an ensuite entry alert or send an ensuite overstay alarm
depending on the setting of the corridor control panel. The latter facility also depends
on the fitting of a room space detector as described above.
(Use this essential
It should be located so that it does not extend its view into the main room or entrance
item for new
standard installations) to the main room otherwise it will generate false calls.

Floor Mat Connector RJ45 socket on Prestige wall plate.
This unit allows the connection of a Floor mat which is pre-wired within the room to

Where a chair is in close proximity to a call-point this chair exit sensor can be hardwired to its BME-DEM-CON. It will trigger an alarm along with audible tone in the
event of the resident leaving or falling from the chair.

Bed and/or Chair Exit Sensor Controller (Also suits Floor mat but not normally

This low cost stand-alone bedside controller is designed to suit the Cura range of
Bed and Chair exit sensors described in Section 4 pages 14 to 16.
This model replaced the need for a CONN-02 or CONN-03 as it includes the
necessary logic circuits to provide control of local audio alert, on-off arm/disarm
switch and local reset.
It would normally be connected to the bedside call-point from within the wall sheeting

Description
IP NURSE-CALL Room controller –Subnet connection with Display, POE &
speech
This wall-mounting unit has alarm, cancel and nurse-presence buttons and will
accommodate 2 identifiable additional inputs to accommodate over-bed pendant
and/or various fixed or wireless trigger devices. It also accommodates a display with
multilevel alarm capability.
In addition to communicating into the nurse-call system head end via a sub-net LAN
path, it has two N/O independent outputs allowing such devices as corridor over-door
lights to operate.
Using SIP technology CARECOM-IP will also accommodate high quality full duplex
two way auto-answer voice communication between the resident/patient and the
responding carer. Should the nominated carer not accept the call, it will revert to a
preplanned ‘buddy’ call arrangement.
The unit is powered via POE connection at the nearest network switch therefore no
special arrangements are necessary and battery backed supply would be ensured via
the POE connection at that point.
Constant polling ensures supervision of continuity of service and an inexpensive 3CX
soft switch would normally provide the voice and message handling requirements
deploying a high quality of service VoIP protocol.

As it is pointless (in fact dangerous) to use a standard bedside call-point with its
6.3mm socket alongside a companion SPC-H-LIGHT unit it is therefore essential to
select one of the common area call-points that does not have such a socket. Make
sure that you add the call-point to the SPC-H-LIGHT Assembly price.
The SPC-H-LIGHT unit derives its 12v supply from the adjacent ‘H’ series call-point
and similarly delivers the cord pendant nurse-call alarm to the appropriate terminals
of the master call-point.
The light switch isolation relay included within the SPC-H-LIGHT unit will deliver a
latched 12v dc supply when the pendant cord light switch is pressed and
correspondingly will unlatch the 12v supply when the cord pendant’s Light switch
button is again pressed.
The left to right orientation of the Master call-point and its companion SPC-H-LIGHT
light switch faceplates may be configured to suit specific requirements.
Note. Price includes the dual surround but does not include the CPHW-H-XX04 call-point as is illustrated.

Paging Encoder Unit
This is a stand-alone paging encoder which, in addition to delivering traffic to a

Annunciator Display controller.
If you need to deliver paging traffic to both a wireless paging transmitter and direct to
hard-wired Annunciator display controller/s, suggest you use a PAGE-SPLTR-01 to
split the coms port data. See details elsewhere within this section.
Note. If using a CCU-03 input controller (above) it should be nted that it does not
include a Paging Encoder section and a CPU-02 device is usually necessary. If using
a WIC-100, WIC-200, WIC-1000M, ASM-02, AE16 or AE32 (described below) as
your nurse-call system master control unit it is then not necessary to use a CPU-02
as those above listed central equipment items also include the CPU-02 paging
encoder functions.

Hard-wired 16-input controller & paging encoder
As a computer input controller it provides 16 hard-wired inputs from voltage free
normally open contacts or from our range of call-point devices and delivers call,
cancel and assist functions for each connection.
It also will accommodate the system’s paging encoder facility. This can include
paging to hard-wired RS485 Annunciator displays by using the PAGE-SPLTR-01
connection interface.
SmartCare-100 operation
When used as computer-less nurse-call systems by dipswitch selection it can be
joined with up to 9 other identical controllers (and/or wireless controllers) plus a 12v
power supply and paging transmitter to form a complete computerless system. See
System-100 section of price list and data sheet.

In this stand-alone (computerless) mode the paging traffic is created by the installer
(or Smart-Caller Service Department) pre-programmed ‘canned messages’ for each
input.
Hard-wired input controller & paging encoder
Similar to the AE16-01 but is limited to connection to the host computer as a 32 hardwired input controller.
Similar to the AE16 controller, the AE32 controller provides a perfect paging encoder
with connections to both Paging Transmitter and WAC-07 Annunciator display
Controller (via PAGE-SPLTR-01 connection panel), whilst also providing up to 32
hard-wired inputs into the host computer system.
It is a perfect solution to a Village Community Centre input controller whereby it
allows hard-wired connections to all call-points and security devices. Unlike the AE16
above it does not have the ability to be provided with canned text messages and is
therefore suitable only for direct connection to the host computer.

24.12
Master Polling Controller and Paging Encoder.
This ASM-02 (or its wireless counterpart the WIC-1000M) is the essential multitasking part of any SmartCare-1000 hard-wired, reticulated wireless or combined
hard-wired/wireless system.
In addition to providing 16 hard-wired fully featured inputs and a paging encoder, it
also performs the task of polling via hard-wired RS485 techniques to all connected
slave hard-wired and/or wireless area controllers.
The paging encoder is capable of driving both the Paging Transmitter in addition to
delivering an RS485 driver for hard-wired connection to one or more WAC-06
Annunciator Display Controllers.
It will accommodate up to 99 slave wireless controllers WIC-1000S and/or AE32S
hard-wired controllers each also able to accommodate a 100-channel wireless
receiver/decoder known as the Safe-T-Net receiver WPM-01.
This Master-polling controller also has the ability to continue to page outgoing call
traffic (albeit to a single capcode address) in the event of host computer failure. The
default paging dispatches raw paging data (POCSAG) being the event word
accompanied by the system client code for that call-point or device.
Master Polling wireless Controller with Paging Encoder
Complete with its paging and Annunciator Controller encoding facility the WIC-1000M
(as the ASM-02 hard-wired master polling controller) supervises up to 99 Hard-wired
AE32 or AE16 Area Controllers so the WIC-1000M provides a similar service to

The WRX-304-01 includes a plug-pack and integral battery back-up and via its BNC
connector will allow either low efficiency ‘Rubber Ducky’ (flexi) antenna connection or
connection of efficient external or roof cavity mounted antenna via coaxial cable
connection (See antennas in section34).

Due to achievable range of 304Mhz transmissions being fraught with difficulties
within building layouts plus the problem of using multiple range extenders, the use of

equipment in a particular area can be a low cost and effective solution in such
environments.

system so the Smart-Caller ‘Blue-Line’ IP nurse-call system offers the same potential
dominance within the Ageing-in-Place’ hard-wired and wireless nurse-call systems
(Introduction to
The ‘Blue-Line’ system is a PC based data acquisition and control network whereby
Multipoint IP System) the central equipment (PC) is in constant contact with each of its family of ‘BlueLine’
Area Controllers (or Nodes) via an Ethernet LAN connection.
Each installed Node includes the required number of 16 input ‘plug-and-play’ I/O
modules which means that any single Node location can range from 16 input to 128
inputs. The illustrations show both 4-module and 8 module Nodes and a typical 32input node would deploy a 4 –module housing with two matching blank panels for the
unused module locations.
Each Node communicates with the host computer using standard commercial LAN
Switches Router/hubs using TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol). TCP/IP is a descriptive framework describing the Internet Protocol Suite of
computer network protocols.
Model
‘BLUE-LINE’ IP
31.1 Cont'd.
Each Area Controller (Node) also includes both RS232 and RS485 gateways to
accommodate and to convert the protocol of possible analogue and perhaps legacy
equipment which has ongoing operational functions.
Similarly the network will accommodate separate and low cost ‘on-line’ analogue to
digital gateways as illustrated below.
The standard module accommodates up to 16 call-points via a single wire connection
to the quick release multipart connector. Each of the wire terminals is protected by
isolating opto-coupling and includes an adjacent LED indicator offering an ideal
installation tool and diagnostic facility.
Other modules in the range include those with 32 input capability having lesser
protective facilities, others with low power transistor switching plus others with high
power (3Amp) contact switching with normally open/normally closed contact options
and others offering RJ connection facilities.

The complete Node assembly would normally include the BlueLine-IP controller
along with the required number of plug-in modules plus DIN rail mounted power
supply, plus the NODE RJ45 Patch/Distribution panel which allows direct connection
from each room or communal area call-point to its parent I/O Module.
In accordance with Australian Standard AS3811 the system installation concept uses
an independent ‘sub-net’ cabling infrastructure terminating at the head-end
SmartCom4 Industrial quality Nurse-call Server using standard commercial routing
switches as necessary to minimize cable lengths.
A major benefit of deploying ‘Blue-Line IP’ Area Controllers is their backward
compatibility with existing Smart-Caller products and systems. For example
connecting the standard range of extremely reliable call-points with their multiple
circuit capability, Call, Cancel and Staff Assist functions plus Wireless Trigger and
Heartbeat monitoring functions are all fully supported by the these ‘Blue-Line’ Area

Display)
Description
Annunciator display RS485 Communications hub.
Connected to the WAC-07 Annunciator Controller this RS485 distribution hub
provides 5 separate RS485 drives from a single input. Each output provides one-way
communication designed for use with BESTLITE Annunciator displays where it
allows multiple display (loop through) connections for each of the 5 lines.
Each connection recognizes the need to maintain a balanced 120Ω twisted pair
connection and therefore allows any practical number of STARSWITCH units to be
used throughout the site.
12v DC 1.5A Plug Pack to suit BESTLITE Annunciator displays
A clean power source (i.e. one having no AC content to ground) is essential to avoid
corrupt displays, this is particularly important for large Annunciator installations. It
should also be recognized that a single display can draw up to 800mW when
displaying a full screen.
Using this approved plug-pack for each display overcomes the corrupt display
problems but does not provide a battery backed facility.
Using a good quality 12v battery backed power supply offers the alternative solution
however do not allow cable runs to exceed 30M if using CAT5 cabling. Contact
Smart-Caller Service department for detailed information and advice and ask for a
copy of the RS458 network design bulletin.

Description
Packaged 12v Regulated 3A Power supply kit with 7AH Sealed Gel battery and
Cabinet
As the SmartCom-04 computer operates from 12v dc (up to 36v dc) it is practical for
the total head-end equipment to operate from a single regulated and battery backed
power supply. This product is ideal and is packaged complete with sealed gel 7AH
battery and includes a resettable fuse.
It is possible to install two batteries in parallel if long term (typically 4 – 8 hours)
battery back-up operation is necessary.
NOTE There is now no need to use an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) as they
are less reliable than the regulated 12v battery backed power supply now necessary
for the Computer operation.

Legacy Explanation LEGACY 27Mhz WIRELESS PRODUCTS & SYSTEMS
Smart-Caller does not encourage or promote the use of low band VHF (27Mhz)
(All low band VHF
wireless nurse-call systems or products which, based on garage door opening
items are based on
techniques, were popular 20+ years ago.
Elsema protocol and The Company has however, assisted large numbers of Retirement Villages and
circuit modules)
Aged Care facilities throughout Australia and New Zealand to gradually retire such
facilities and in some cases have agreed to maintain those facilities with the supply
of replacement products and technical support.

27Mhz call traffic to ADEMCO Protocol Convertor
This central equipment optional item has been designed to capture 27Mhz wireless
traffic using the standard Elsema protocols (as used within OPSM, Village Watch,
Village Alert, Visiplex , Mical and other similar systems) and to convert those calls
into standard ADEMCO protocol for processing by Smart-Caller compatible nursecall host computer systems.
Note. Smart-Caller will require the use of a sample 27Mhz transmitter to verify
system compatibility. In this respect we no longer process Vitalcall call traffic.
Note. See Section 35 for 27Mhz products to support and/or convert legacy 27Mhz
systems.

578
27Mhz to Ademco and 304Mhz Protocol Convertor
This model is as the -01 version but includes an internal 304Mhz low powered
transmitter which effectively allows incoming calls (in addition to being converted to
Ademco format) but also to allow those incoming 27Mhz calls to be retransmitted
with unique identifying code for processing via various 304Mhz receivers such as
those within HP3 phones and HP4 Diallers for off-site delivery to central monitoring
companies.
For large sites with more than 48 incoming 27Mhz transmitters the Site-Wide dialer
should be used, each of which is capable of handling up to 256 unique incoming
27Mhz transmitters.

TRX-03 includes NiMH battery backup and plug-pack. It provides a SO259 (Screw
type) socket for antenna/coax lead connection but excludes 27Mhz antenna.
Note: Existing on-site repeaters used by all above brands (except Vitalcall) will
communicate directly with Smart-Caller head-end WIC-05 receiver/decoder unit. It is
necessary to replace existing Vitalcall repeaters with the TRX-03 for reliable
operation. If upgrading a third party system it is necessary to advise call-point and
retransmission carrier frequencies and to provide a sample call-point/pendant to
confirm system protocol at time of ordering.

Strobe light for HP3/HP4 and HD4 Phones and Diallers
One optional facility of the Emergency-Call phones and Diallers is the wireless
controlled Strobe light that would normally be placed at the entrance to the premises.
The wireless trigger transmitter located within the phone /dialer will remotely switch
on the strobe in an alarm condition and will switch it off when a cancel call is
dispatched. It is also possible to enable and disable the Strobe via key strokes on the
phone keypad.
It is usual to use an RDU-01 receiver (or other RDU models) to control the Strobe
activity. See Section 12 RDU devices

Carer Magnetic key-ring Cancel Key (Recommended Part)
No Cura based system should be without a number of these inexpensive key-ring
magnets. They are used to activate or deactivate the wireless tags and to cancel
active alarms at the Door Alert strip sensor and similarly cancel alarms generated by
other various equipment items.
Suggest purchase a few of these as they are used extensively as a low cost
means of resetting (cancelling) alarm conditions
Simply touch the correct location to switch on a resident’s wireless tag or to reset an
alarm in the strip or other sensor.
12v DC plug-pack.
Where nurse-call or door security system battery backed power source is not readily
available you should use this prescribed plug-pack which should be connected to a
dedicated 240v wall mounted power socket out of sight of Residents.
Note. For DoorAlert Systems (if not using nurse-call or security sourced power
supply use the special low EMI version in Item 3.5.

A-23A BATTERY 12V
12 v 23A Alkaline Battery
This battery is used throughout the Cura range of products primarily because the 12v
high ampere hour capacity within a small battery pack allows greater radio
(12v Alkaline Battery) transmission range without compromising product size.
