Bias Knit Baby Blanket

 The jewel of the sky is the sun, the jewel of the house is the child. – A Chinese saying This baby blanket is a larger version of my dishcloth pattern, same principals, but enlarged. I had loved making the dishcloths / facecloths that I thought I’d see if the pattern would make a good blanket. It does! I will be giving this one to my knitting ministry to be blessed and given to a family in need. This project is a fairly quick knit. I consider it a weekend project or an hour at night after work and done by the end of the work-­‐week. Size-­‐ Preemie ( 23” x 23”) If you want a larger baby blanket, so say 30” x 30” simply keep increasing until you have 180 stitches on your needles or the length of the diagonal is 30”. You will need: # 8 straight needles #8 29” circular needles 4 balls of Sugar-­‐n-­‐Cream (approx 480 yards of worsted #4 Cotton) Cast on 4 stitches. Knit one row. *Turn and K2, YO, knit across the rest of the stitches*. Repeat from * to* until you have 5o stitches on the needle and what looks like half a triangle. if you want it bigger, that's fine Keep going until desired width is achieved. This pattern makes a great shawl if you stop at the widest point, knit two rows without an increase and then bind off. Remember that you will want the increase to bring the widest point to about 60” in width. To decrease: Next row* K1, K2tog YO, K2tog, Knit across the rest of the stitches.* Repeat from * to * until you are back to just 4 stitches. You will end up back at just 4 stitches.
