It was reported that 70-80
community members were
accommodated at the community hall. Tents were
erected and mobile toilets
were provided. During my
visit in that area I realised
that primary health care,
social services and the local
councillor were busy assisting the communities. Tshepo
ya Sechaba community programme in Barkly was hands
on in providing food and
allocating people to their
respective areas. I would
like to thank Me Evelyn and
her group who were really
doing a great job for the
helpless people.

It has been noted that Namakwa district is currently
leading other districts in
health and hygiene programmes, John Taolo and
Pixley have also showed
positive contributions. This

been received from different
districts. I believe that 2011
is a year of elevation in the
profession and it encourages
lot of people to witness the
impact of EH.

Northern Cape Department
of Health, Department of
Human Settlement and Water Affairs developed annual
work plans for health and
hygiene programmes, Mr
Gavin January, Mr Phala
Daniel , Mr Jerry Mokhele
and Mr Motlatla established
an interdepartmental collaboration committee that
deals specifically with
Health and Hygiene in the
Northern Cape Province.
The aim is to ensure that the
programme is being coordinated without duplication
and is ensuring maximum
participation and resources.
