Community Service Projects
Recycling
We collect recycle bins around the school every day and we put
them in the recycle bin outside. The school depend on us to
collect the material. If we miss a day or two the teacher start
asking “Are you going to collect recycling today?” We are very
proud of your children’s hard work and dedication to the
community service project.

Mission Statement
Hygiene Kits for Homeless
The children, parents and staff brought soap, shampoo,
toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving lotion etc... To make hygiene kits
for the homeless. We talked about how there are people who do
not homes or cannot afford the basic needs. We made about 75
hygiene kits. Thank you parents for encouraging your children to
bring material to fill our hygiene kits.

Young ThespiansChildren have been learning to create a story by taking random
objects out of a bag. A child starts a story with an object they pull
out of the bag and then the next child continues the story using
the random object. The story continues until all objects are used.
The story had to make sense and still have a beginning, middle
and end that was cohesive. The children had a short presentation
collage. The students found three pictures and cut them out and
wrote what the picture meant and presented them. The children
made commercials using a variety bottles. The named what the
bottle as product and created an info commercial that promoted
their product.
The children are also working on a project called one word at a
time. The children are going to create sentences using different
words for magazines and newspaper. The children are dividing
the words in adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and nouns before creating
the sentences.
Each of these lesson are promoting literacy and communication
skills; learning about parts of speech; building vocabulary, building
thought and creative process and learning how to do a
presentation.
Famous Future Writers- The children have been working on the
home row of keys on the computer. We are finding that children
are pecking at the computer and it take them a lot of time to
create writing documents. We are helping children learn home
keys and eventually will work on other keys to help the children
become more proficient in the typing skills. This will help in children
creating 6 week projects as well as help children in writing papers
that they will have to later in their school career.
