Sommelier. The Sommeliers’ Kunin Wines, Roussanne • • An exquisite wine that celebrates this classic French varietal Distinctive minerality, earthiness and texture offer great pairing options • Only 210 cases produced The Producer Kunin Wines is a boutique producer of high quality premium wines from California’s Central Coast. Their philosophy is simple: when you open a bottle, you can be assured from vineyard to glass, very little has been done to alter the purity of the fruit or its natural terroir. Varietals include Syrah, Zinfandel, Viognier and blends of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. Kunin Wines is committed to quality over quantity, producing roughly 5,800 cases annually. The Wine Kunin Wines’ Roussanne is a small production, distinctive wine that brings a new world twist to a classic Rhône varietal. While French versions typically blend Roussanne and age in oak, Kunin uses 100% Roussanne grapes and vinifies in stainless steel, centering the focus on this aromatic varietal. With minerality, earthiness and texture, the wine pairs exceptionally well with braised halibut and roasted vegetables. Each varietal requires particular soil and climatic conditions to produce fruit that is superior in quality. Therefore, Kunin Wines sources their grapes from various vineyards, located throughout the California’s Central Coast AVA region, to take advantage of the varying conditions and terrain and insure that each varietal is grown in its optimal environment. California’s Central Coast AVA region is unique in its marine-‐influenced climate, which provides for a long, cool growing season, allowing maximum time for the grapes to develop complex flavors while retaining sufficient natural acidity. This balance of ripeness and acidity produces wines of exceptional elegance that will age gracefully and make an excellent companion to food. In keeping with their philosophy that wines should be “as nature intended,” Kunin Wines reflect their varietal, terroir and vintage. Variations in temperature from one year to the next are revealed in the vintages, providing an authentic expression of Mother Nature. While nature is celebrated in Kunin Wines, quality is always paramount, and they let vineyard and vintage quality dictate production levels, year after year. Appellation: Central Coast Varietal Blend: 100% Roussanne Vineyard: French Camp Aging: 100% stainless steel tank Alcohol: 14.2% Production: 210 cases Tasting N otes: Wet rocks and straw/honey on the nose. Medium-‐bodied on the palate, with flavors of pineapple and h oney, along with plenty of minerals and a waxy, viscous texture. Just enough acidity/structure combined with a clean finish of medium length makes this a pleasant and refreshing wine. We provide great restaurants and retailers with wines they are proud to serve and keep their guests coming back for more. www.gcondeswines.com
