Tiny Toons Pre-K
The Pre-K Tiny Toons had a fabulous first week and were great TIGERS! We were so excited to
make new friends, try new activities and learn all about the TIGER qualities of Teamwork, Integrity,
Generosity, Enthusiasm, and Respect! We showed our TIGER qualities all throughout Meadowbrook!
We loved travelling around Camp singing our Meadowbrook song and saying “Hip Hip Hooray” with
Enthusiasm to let everyone know the Tiny Toons were there!
Each Group chose an adorable name for themselves!
Group 1: Munchkins – led by Sandy Schapitl, Rebecca Burke, and Sarah Haber
Group 2: Tiny Tigers – led by Heather Shulman, Meg Harmon, and Renee Nubel
Group 3: Lollipops – led by Gwen Herman, Grace Hoos, and Jolie Berkowitz
Group 4: Bumble Bees – led by Deb Weiss, Emma Jenkins, and Glin Brower
We swam a lot so just a reminder to please pack 2 bathing suits, 2 towels and swim shoes to walk to
the pool! Also, don’t forget to label everything so we don’t lose anything!!
Each week, I spotlight a different group in the Division. This week, the spotlight is on
Group 4 – the Bumble Bees!
Just a reminder – we hope you can join us for visiting day on Wednesday, July 13th to see all the fun
we are having!
Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July!

PreK Tiny Toons Division Head
This Weeks Spotlight….. Group 4 Bumble Bees!
Group 4 is full of TIGER spirit!! The Bumble Bees had an amazing first week and showed so much
energy! Danny, Ryan and Rebecca loved trying to score at Soccer. Lyla and Avery loved acting like
princesses while looking for treasures at Imagination Station. Izzy, Savvy and Zurisophia had a
blast squirting the Counselors on the Bumper Boats. Logan and Ari had a lot of fun during Swim
iInstruction. All of our little bees had such a fun week playing with each other and working as a
team! We can’t wait to come back next
week and play again!
Deborah, Emma and Glin
Group Counselors
Dear Kindergarten Girls and Boys families,
We had an awesome first week of Camp! We said hello to some of our friends from last
year, and welcomed new friends to our Meadowbrook family. Our amazing Counselors are
making sure we are going to have the best Summer ever!
The “Sparkling Rainbows” of group 7G are led by Stacey, Zoe, and Sam.
The “Meadowbrook Girls” of group 8G are led by Nancy, Delaney, and Sydney.
The “Tiger Princesses” of group 9G are led by Stephanie, Sam, Melinda, and Jordan.
The “Flying Tigers” of group 8B are led by Kristen, Grace, and John.
The “Dynamites” of group 9B are led by Susan, Shannon, Ryan, and Andrew.
We learned the meaning of TIGER and talked about how we are all TIGER
Campers! Our Teamwork, Integrity, Generosity, Enthusiasm and Respect
are part of all of our daily activities. We even had a special visit from
TIGER himself!!
We loved creating and eating our TIGER pudding parfaits, TIGER paw print cookies, and
TIGER dipped marshmallows. We even helped separate the orange and black beads for
our TIGER bead bracelets. We showed our “E” in TIGER as we were very enthusiastic
while planting our sunflower seeds in the Meadowbrook Garden.
Can you please remember to put flip flops or pool shoes in my bag daily?
Can you label all of my belongings so I will not lose anything? Our division
head Penny said we are the best division ever! We all agree!
We are so excited for Week 2, Wild Card!
Love, Your Campers
EXPLORER GIRLS
I am beyond delighted to be back as the Explorer Girls Division Head! The girls are
extremely excited to be part of “main camp” this Summer for the first time. They
are truly BIG girls now! I have really enjoyed getting to know all your daughters this
week and have been blown away by their incredible energy and enthusiasm! Overall, it
has truly been an Awesome-Sauce first week of Meadowbrook! It is definitely worth
waiting 10 months for these 2
Leading the way for the Explorer Girls are the “The Dazzling Awesome Blossoms” of
Group 10! They have been sunshine and smiles all week long as they are already
forming wonderful friendships
“The Flying Meatball Tigers” of Group 11 definitely had the most fun coming up with
their unique group name J! Keep up the creativity girls!
I love the spirit and energy of “The Sparkling Blue Starry Starfish” of Group 12! We
have seen them singing and dancing all week long as they go from activity to activity!
The girls are extremely lucky to have this All-Star group of counselors! Jamie is our
returning Senior Counselor for Group 10! Jayne is the Junior Counselor and Syndney
is the Assistant Counselor for the group. Group 11 has Morgan as their Senior
Counselor, with Danielle as the Junior Counselor and Zoe as the Assistant Counselor.
Finally, Rachel is our Senior Counselor for Group 12, with Kate as the Junior
Counselor and Izzy as the Assistant Counselor. We also have a Rockstar Group of
Floater Counselors….Janae, Sydnee, Samantha and Abigail! I love the ENERGY that
this group of counselors brings to this Division!
The girls enjoyed learning all the letters of TIGER for
“That’s so Tiger” week. They earned tons of Tiger Tales
every day as they worked on Teamwork, Integrity,
Generosity, Enthusiasm and Respect!
We loved singing our Explorer Girls song “Dynamite” and showing off our awesome
banner to the entire camp at the end of the week. Jr. Dance and General Swim are
definitely the favorite activities of the Division thus far. It is so fun to see them
playing with one another in the pool
However, all the girls are loving their Choice
activities for the week!
A few camp reminders to help the summer run smoothly……
Please make sure that girls have all their clothing and towels labeled,
including goggles. Also, the girls have Swim Instruction first period so
please make sure they have a bathing suit on and sunscreen applied
before they come to camp. A wonderful way to prevent facial sunburn is
to send your daughters to camp with their own facial sunscreen sticks.
The Counselors will carry them all day long in order to make it easier for
the girls to reapply at their convenience. Most of the girls are using
giant Ziploc bags for their Wet and Dry stuff in order to keep their
clothing separate. As always, make sure that the girls are wearing to
sneakers to camp and bringing an extra swimsuit in their bags. Please do
not let the girls bring anything nicer to Camp as we cannot ensure that
their clothes will not get lost or dirty.
As always, thank you for sharing your daughters with us this Summer.
They are truly a delight and we are extremely psyched to show them a
summer of FUN, SUNSHINE and SMILES!
All the best,
Jeri (Camper at Heart)
EXPLORER BOYS
Welcome to Meadowbrook...
Explorer Boys Are TIGER!
It was definitely worth waiting 10 months for our amazing first week of TIGER-filled-fun
activities at Meadowbrook. With our continued focus on life skills, the Explorer Boys have
been demonstrating TIGER values all week long. We want the acronym TIGER to mean more
than just a bunch of big words, but for the boys to translate those words into positive actions
all Summer long. We did this by continually demonstrating and identifying TIGER values in
their conduct and explaining to them what they did that was TIGER and why it was important.
The Counselors helped Campers write TIGER Tales to reinforce their positive behaviors each
day focusing on one value of TIGER. Of course we also high-fived our TIGER mascot out on
the field by the NCAA basketball court and practiced our new chant, “That’s so TIGER…clap,
clap, clap, clap, clap!”
Group 15, The Golden TIGER Warriors, led by Rachel, Jessie and Ben demonstrated Teamwork
at Basketball this week while working together to accomplish the fun over-under relay
together. They showed Enthusiasm at Wonder Works by cheering each other on during their
Wonder Works experiment, making TIGER lava. They also were very Generous with each other
by taking turns at Fishing where they caught SIX fish in one period!
Group 16, The Golden Earthworms, led by Julia, Gillian and Josh, showed their Enthusiasm at
Color Crafts while creating their TIGER splatter paintings. They also demonstrated Teamwork
and Generosity at Earth, Wind, and Fire where they did an obstacle course, played drums and
sat in the teepee and shared the spirit stick, taking turns sharing what they most loved so far
about Camp.
Group 17, The Taco Terminators, led by Alexis, Lizi and Matt, demonstrated Teamwork and
Respect by everyone helping to clean up their table after lunch and Enthusiasm with their
participation in all activities, especially in making TIGER pudding parfaits at Cold Cooking. The
boys of Group 17 also showed a lot of Integrity by being really good listeners at Pillow Polo.
In your Camper’s groups will also be “Floaters” assisting the group. You may hear their names
throughout the Summer from your Camper. These Floater Counselors are Melissa, Zach G. and
Zach W. They are awesome additions to our already fabulous Explorer Boys groups.
These are just a FEW of the activities I witnessed your Campers doing
throughout the first week. I also witnessed lots of SMILES and making new
friendships and new memories. The TIGER values that each group exhibited
throughout the week will be practiced and recognized all Summer long while we
are having the best Summer ever!
A few reminders for you are:

Please apply sunscreen before coming to Camp. Sunscreen will be reapplied throughout the
day. A face stick is recommended. Please make sure it is labeled with your Camper’s name.

Regarding Swim testing, we are encouraging the boys to work with their Swim Instructors,
Counselors and I determine if they are ready to test for the next level swim band. The
boys will build their stamina and we will continue to work with each of them to reach the
goals they have set for themselves. An e-mail was sent out on their first day of Camp
explaining our Swim procedure here at Camp. If you should have questions, feel free to call
me here at Camp to help clarify any concerns you may have about your Camper.
Overall, we had such a great time getting to know each other this week
and demonstrating tons of TIGER examples. Ask your Explorer about our
Division Shout Back “Explorer Boys are #1”, to the tune of the famous
Peyton Manning commercial for Nationwide. Also ask him to sing to you our
Explorer Boy Song/Cheer which goes to the tune of the chorus in “My
House” by Flo Rida. We performed it for the entire Camp on Friday at our
Meadowbrook TIGER Spiritfest! We will continue to sing our cheer every
Thursday at lunch when we turn the lunch pavilion into a cheer off with
the other divisions who share lunch with us.
I must say, our Division is the most fun, spirited, and adorable bunch of boys in Camp! I am
looking forward to Week 2’s “Wild Card” with your Campers. Don’t forget to wear your wildest
socks next Thursday.
Finally, I will be highlighting one Explorer Boy Division group each week. Look for Group 15’s
spotlight in next week’s newsletter.

FRESHMAN GIRLS
It was well worth the wait for Summer 2016 at Meadowbrook! We kicked off
summer with our T-I-G-E-R week. Our girls showed their “T” for Teamwork by
working together to come up with group names, secret words and learn our division
song. They showed their “I” for Integrity by being great friends to old friends
and new alike. They showed their “G” for Generosity by sharing with their friends
all week. They showed their “E” for Enthusiasm by leading the Freshman Girls in
cheers and chants in a quest to win Tiger Cup! They showed their “R” for Respect
by respecting their Counselors and Division Head as well as all leaders and
specialists at Meadowbrook.
Group 20: “The Amazing Awesome Sweet Tigers” led by Beth, Eva & Julia showed their
Integrity by awarding their counselors with a “Counselor of the Day” award, where they
each told the Counselor of the Day why she deserved the award.
Group 21: “The Flaming French Fries” led by Maddie and Kaitlyn show their Teamwork all day
long. They can always be found marching through the camp singing a song or playing a game
on their way to the next period.
Group 22: “The Freshman Flowers” led by Audrey and Rebecca are mostly new campers and
you would never know it, because they are naturals! They have such spirit and Enthusiasm
ALL DAY. Always excited for the next event, especially bumper boats and chocolate
(cooking)! Group 22 was spotlighted in the daily bulletin under “Best Practices” as having
been seen playing red light green light on the way to Wonder
Works
Shyami, Hannah and Nicole are our three “Floaters”. These girls are fabulous and switch
around to different groups within our division daily. You will probably hear their names, as
your girls all adore them. We could not be any luckier to have such a wonderful
Staff.
A few reminders:
Please send your child to Camp with suntan lotion applied every day. Suntan lotion
will be reapplied throughout the day. If you would like to, you may send a face stick
of sunscreen (labeled with your child’s name) that the Counselor can apply to your
daughter as well.
Some children prefer to swim with goggles. Please ask your daughter, and if she
does, please send her with labeled goggles. Long hair should be tied back for Swim
Instruction.
We had a great week getting to know each other and meeting new friends and
demonstrating all of our TIGER values. We also had a great time celebrating
TIGER. Ask your Freshman Girl about our Division song that we sang to the tune of
“Sorry” by Justin Bieber. We performed it for the whole Camp on Friday during our
Meadowbrook TIGER Extravaganza.
Starting next week, I will highlight 1 group per week, so please look out for the
highlight section!
Lastly, do not hesitate to reach out to be should you have any concerns during the
Summer. Please call the Camp office and they will deliver the message to me.
Best,
Jaime
Freshman Girls Division Head

While each Group has a dedicated crew of awesome Counselors, we also have the
energetic James, who assists our Division, each day, moving from one Group to another
to interact with the Boyz and share his great Camp spirit! The fact of the matter is, we
ALL work together to help make the Division hum, and I count on every member of the
team to make each day a great one for the Boyz.
Every week, I’ll share a brief Division update, and will also profile one particular group
within the Division. So, without further ado, here’s a taste of what we did, this week:
On Monday, The Boyz met up at the Bunks, where they found their cubbies and quickly
marked their territory by tossing socks and underwear all over the floor (just kidding).
We spent some time getting to know one another, experienced our first Morning
Blastoff as a new Division, met the Swim Instructors we’re going to be learning from,
and spent some time practicing our Division Cheer – we performed the Cheer on Friday,
as is tradition, and (also as is tradition), the rest of the Camp LOVED us! You’ll have to
ask your Camper for some more details. The Boyz started with their first Summer of
“Choice,” where they spent two periods, each day (Tuesday through Friday of the 1st
Week), mixing it up with Campers from other Groups as well as our friends in the
Freshman Girls Division. They’ll get to try new things all Summer long!
The rest of the week included trips to Capture the Flag, Adventure and Team Challenge,
Beads, Beads, Beads, Cold Cooking, Basketball, Hockey, Nature, Earth, Wind & Fire,
Wonder Works, and the good, old-fashioned Arcade. It was a terrific first week, filled
with time to recognize many examples of TIGER that the Boyz displayed. We’re not
throwing away our shot at getting that TIGER Cup, that’s for sure! Next up . . .WILD
CARD Week! Please reach out to Camp with any questions or concerns, please make sure
to check out the many great photos on the Meadowbrook website, each night (the
password is sunshine), and PLEASE continue to label EVERYTHING!
This Week, I’ll be sharing a closer look @ Group 27, the Freshmen TIGERS.
FRESHMAN BOYS
Hello, and welcome to Summer, 2016! The Freshman Boyz are in the House and ready to
have a fantastic time romping through Camp during the next eight weeks! And “Romp!”
they did, during “That’s So TIGER!” Week at Meadowbrook. The Boyz began by coming
up with some names to go by, this Summer. A quick, 5-minute brainstorm and vote
resulted in the following:
Group 27, the Freshmen TIGERS
This Week, I’ll be sharing a closer look @ Group 27, the Freshmen TIGERS.
Owen B and Matthew started the week helping their Group have fun at Flag Football,
then cooled off with buddies, Will and Charlie during Chocolate! They continued the
cool down at Bumper Boats, where Brody, Troy, and Kesin, showed off their smiles and
their wet shirts while bouncing around Bullfrog Pond. Later in the Week, Lucas, Alex,
and Ryan showed off their enthusiasm during the Group’s “Mystery” event, which
turned out to be an awesome game of “Jersey Ball” – a combination of Quidditch
mixed with Dodgeball and a bit of the Angry Birds game. All of the Boyz loved it!
Wednesday finished with Carter, Parker, and Gavin showing off their creativity at
Lego Land, and then their power at a game of Kickball, while Owen Z, Nick, and Ethan
soared over the trails at Boards & Bikes, and had a great time at everyone’s favorite
game, GaGa.
Week 1 is mostly about seeing old friends and starting to make new ones.
The Freshmen TIGERS were real role models for the Division . . . they
immediately started having fun, while also doing a great job developing
stronger relationships with one another – something that is great not
only for themselves, individually, but great for our Division as a whole.
Great job, Boyz!
Please watch for more Group highlights, each week.
Thanks!
Steve B.
JUNIOR GIRLS
Welcome back home to Meadowbrook for the Best Summer Ever!!!!
The Junior Girls had a Tiger-rific first week of camp. Both returning and new
Campers have shown Teamwork, Integrity, Generosity, Enthusiasm, and
Respect at every activity and I know will be TIGERS the entire Summer long.
Let me introduce the Junior Girls incredible Counselors that make all the fun and memories
happen.

Group 30: “The Super Duper Junior Girls” are led by Senior Counselor Lauren and Junior
Counselor Nicole. They can be seen around Camp laughing and having fun all day long.

Group 31: “The Sea Stars” are led by Senior Counselor Sam and Junior Counselor Julie.
They have so much spirit as they sing everywhere they go.

Group 32: “The All-Stars” led by Senior Counselor Emily and Junior Counselor Julia are
loving every activity they have been to at Camp so far.
We also have two Rockin’ Floaters, Rachel and Tiwa who will be spending time with all of the
Groups on different days.
A few Camp reminders to help the summer run smoothly…
Please make sure that the girls have all of the clothing and towels labeled, including goggles.
Also, the girls have Swim Instruction first period, so make sure they come to Camp in a
bathing suit with sunscreen already applied. Many Campers use giant Ziploc bags for their
Wet and Dry stuff in order to keep their dry clean clothing from getting wet. As always,
please make sure the girls are wearing sneakers to Camp and bringing an extra swim suit and 2
towels in their camp bag. Please do not let the girls bring or wear anything nice to camp
because we are outdoors having fun and some activities may get messy.
Thank you again for sharing your daughters with us this Summer. I look forward to getting to
know each one of them individually and making indelible memories that will last forever.
Sunshine and Smiles,
Jill
Junior Girls Division Head
JUNIOR
BOYS
Summer has arrived and MEADOWBROOK welcomed the Junior Boys with open arms! This week we
have been focusing in on our TIGER attributes during “That’s So TIGER” Week, TEAMWORK,
INTEGRITY, GENEROSITY, ENTHUSIASM, and RESPECT.
Group 35, the “Dynamic Dabbin’ Tigers”, led by Kyle, Harris & Brendan, showed great TEAMWORK
during Team Handball on Monday by passing the ball to their teammates and cheering each other on.
Group 36, the “Swaggers”, led by Andrew N, Hector & Cameron, showed great INTEGRITY during Swim
Instruction and Free Swim by listening to their Swim Instructors and following all the pool rules.
Group 37, the “Underdogs”, led by Nick & Jeremy showed great GENEROSITY by helping each other
learn the rules of Capture the Flag and by handing out the flags and pinnies.
Group 38, the “Meadowbrook 38’ers”, led by Alex & Kevin, have been excellent at showing
ENTHUSIASM to all their specialists throughout the day by getting excited for each and every
activity.
Group 39, the “JA Juniors”, led by Jordan & Andrew M, showed their RESPECT by helping to keep
MCDC clean without being asked and by listening to their Counselors and Specialists.
Junior Boys put together a Division wide cheer and were LOUD & PROUD when they revealed their
Division banner. Their Tiger Roar shook the ground, it was so loud!
Group 35 Spotlight - The Dynamic Dabbin’ Tigers, chose goals for their Summer, giving
themselves targets to shoot for throughout Camp. Christopher is excited to win a Flag Football game.
Constantinos is working toward scoring 20 goals in Soccer! Wow! Miles wants to try to improve at each
activity. Sawyer and Teddy are determined to earn their Blue Bands from the Deep Water Challenge.
Brendan is looking forward to earning Camper of the Day for a second time. Ben S. is hoping to cheer
his way to a Bus Spirit award. Drew and Devon are focused on having as much fun as possible. Ben Z. is
working on getting all of the Achievement Tags! Liam wants to score a goal in Handball. Michael wants
to practice his generosity and help those around him have fun. Aidan would like to earn his Archery
Achievement Tag. Alex is excited to try a Head Banger on the Swing at the Challenge Course. David has
his sights set on getting his name on the Wall of Fame!
What awesome goals for the Summer!
As a friendly reminder to parents, please be sure to label all items sent to Camp with their Group
number and last name. That would be extremely helpful, thanks!
Our Swim program has started strong. Campers challenged for deep water swimming on Wednesday or
Thursday. Additionally, whenever any Camper is ready to do so, all Campers will have the chance to
test for advanced Swim challenges for higher level swim bands throughout the Summer on alternate
days.
Now it’s time to get ready for Week 2 – Wild Card Week!
Hoping you had as good a first week of Camp as I did!
~ Mike
SENIOR GIRLS
It is unanimous, Senior Girls want camp to be 10 months and school for two! I wish I could make that
happen for them, but it was well worth the wait to spend this Summer at Meadowbrook. It has been all
sunshine and smiles for Senior Girls so far! We have already begun to create indelible memories that will
last a lifetime. The friendship bonds are irreplaceable and so incredibly special. Our Campers who have
joined us for the first Summer have been welcomed with open arms and have been spotted skipping,
cheering and singing with their new friends. Ask your Campers to hear our cheer, it is awesome! We spent
the week full of Teamwork, Integrity, Generosity, Enthusiasm and Respect. Being a TIGER is what Camp is
all about!
Now to introduce the amazing Counselors that make the magic happen:
Group 40: “The Crazy Emoji Tigers” are led by their fearless leaders, Erin Ambrose and Rachel Yuroshek.
They can usually be spotted around camp singing cheers as they go from one activity to another.
Group 41: “The Fluffy Rainbow Unidino Tiger Gumball Fitbit Pieguys” (yes, this is really the group name
they selected) is led by Ashley Fertile and Sam Thompson. They can usually be seen around Camp holding
hands and making trains when walking around Camp.
Group 42: “The Roaring Tigers” is led by Carlie Gould and Sydney Steiner and they are usually seen
dancing and rapping throughout Camp.
We have two amazing Floaters who will get to spend time with all our groups, Sarah Potters and Savannah
Reidinger. They are awesome!
Just some quick reminders:
Please make sure your Campers come to Camp with sunscreen already applied. They will reapply after Swim
periods and throughout the day. Meadowbrook provides sunscreen, but if you wish to send your child with
a face stick that is always good. If your Camper wants swim goggles, please send those in their backpacks.
Please continue to send Meadow Notes in your child’s backpack as needed. And as always, please feel free
to call me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting you all at our Vsiting Late Night.
It has been such a pleasure getting to know your girls, they all ROCK! So much more fun ahead, let the fun
and Sunshine continue for 34 more days! They are all TIGERS ! Go Summer of 2016!
~ Nancy
Senior Boys
Hello Senior Boys Parents,
The Senior Boys had at tremendous first week at Meadowbrook! Each Camper was
excited to be part of the Meadowbrook Country Day Camp community, eagerly
participating in every event from Swimming to TIGER discussions. During the “That’s So
Tiger!” themed week, the boys practiced their Division call back (ask your son to shout it
out), creating their Division banner, and connecting and making friends with fellow
Campers and their Counselors.
For my first Newsletter, I’d like to introduce the Counselors with whom your boys are
working, playing, and learning. In upcoming newsletters, I’ll profile specific groups within
our Senior Boys division.
However, you don’t have to wait to know what fun is happening at Meadowbrook; our
excellent Staff photographers are taking thousands of pictures daily that are then
uploaded to the Meadowbrook website, under the Current Families/Photo gallery. The
password is sunshine. Please take a look and see how much fun everyone is having at Camp!
Without further adieu, I’d like to introduce your son’s groups and Counselors:
Group 45: Da Dabbing Tigers led by Sr. Counselor Thomas and Jr. Counselor Keith.
Group 46: Meadowbrook Tiger Legends led by Sr. Counselors Will and Greg.
Group 47: Next Level led by Sr. Counselor Justin and Jr. Counselors Max and Elija.
Chad, our Floater, moves between the groups to help wherever he is needed the most.
We have a full Summer schedule that promises lots of fun, adventure, and friendships.
I’ll be reaching out to you to say ‘hello’ and to check-in during the weeks your son is at
Camp. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to call the main office if you need to reach
me. I’ll get back to you within the day.
Regards,
Chris
YA GIRLS
It is really worth waiting 10 months for these very special 2 of Sunshine
and Smiles at Meadowbrook. The YA Girls ROCKED the first week of
Meadowbrook 2016. We had a blast reconnecting with some of our friends
from last year and at the same time loved welcoming new friends into our
Meadowbrook Family. I am so proud of our Division for showing their
amazing Teamwork during activities such as Team Challenge, Soccer,
Softball and Tapu-Aie (A YA Girls Favorite)! This is only the beginning. I have no doubt that they
will continue to demonstrate all of our TIGER qualities as the days and weeks pass by. This week
was full of TIGER Spirit as we learned our new camp chant, “That’s So TIGER”, earned TIGER
Tales, and ended by presenting our Division cheer at our TIGER Spiritfest. We will continue to
sing and cheer throughout the rest of the Summer!
The girls were very enthusiastic (and silly) when it came time to pick their group names.
Group 50: The Laughing Fire Breathing Tigers led by Counselors Caitlyn and Lainie
Group 51: Supper Dupper Terrific Teamwork Tigers led by Counselors Lauren and Danielle
Group 52: Tootsie Tigers led by Counselors Georgia and Lily
Group 60: The Kewl Krew led by Counselors Casey and Leah
Group 61: The Dabicorns led by Counselors Kait and Christina
Our Division has two Floating Counselors, Elise and Lauren, who do an outstanding job assisting all
of our YA Girls Groups.
I am very grateful for all of my FABULOUS Counselors and could not do my job without their
help.
Just a few reminders…please remember to send your daughter to Camp already sun screened and
we will make sure she reapplies throughout the day. Because we are constantly moving and
grooving, we keep the girls hydrated with lots of water breaks. Also, we are very active at Camp
so please double check that your daughter is dressed appropriately. With the exception of
walking to and from the pool, sneakers are to be worn at all times. Finally, please remember that
our first trip outside of Meadowbrook is next Wednesday to Branchburg Sports Complex. The
girls should come to Camp in their green Camp shirts! Thank you again for giving me the
opportunity to share this Summer with your daughters.
Our Camp theme for next week is “Wild Card” Who knows what is in store for the week????
Have a wonderful 4th of July Weekend!
xoxo….snap!

YA BOYS
Dear Young Adventure Parents,
Welcome to another fantastic Summer at Meadowbrook Country Day Camp!
It has been an awesome first full week of Camp! The boys had a great time
with celebrating TIGER all this week! Each day Campers and Counselors
looked for examples of TIGER! Monday we focused on Teamwork, Tuesday
Integrity, Wednesday Generosity, Thursday Enthusiasm, and on Friday
Respect. In addition we stared scrimmaging for Leagues this week and
broke out singing voices for our Tiger SpiritFest on Friday!
For new YA Boys’ parents, we do go outside of Camp four times during the Summer. Our first trip
this Summer is Wednesday July 6 to Branchburg Sports Complex and we follow that up Week 4 with
an amazing trip to Powerhouse Studios in Paramus. We also do not have a regular Visiting Day,
instead parents are invited to join us July 26 for YA Family Late Night. Parents are welcome to
come join us in playing games and partake in some of Roz, Jed, and Rich’s wackiness up at the
Campfire!
Lastly, just a couple of reminders...Please remember to have your Camper put on sunscreen at home.
We will have them apply more as the day goes on but that first layer of sunscreen is the most
important. Please make sure your Camper has his lime green Camp shirt on for those days that we
are out of Camp on trips. If you have any questions or concerns, just give me a call here at Camp.
This year the YA’s are manned by…

Tween Travel Adventure:
The Tween Travel had an incredible first week at Camp. The Campers had a blast
developing group names, learning their cheer and marching proudly with their banner at
the end of the THAT’S SO TIGER SPIRITFEST! This week was all about TIGER
TAILS. TIGER TAILS was a way of introducing and reinforcing TIGER (which
exemplifies the core values of Meadowbrook Country Day Camp: “T”eamwork,
“I”ntegrity, “G”enerosity, “E”nthusiasm, and “R”espect).
Throughout the week, the TWEENS enjoyed a variety of awe-inspiring activities at
MCDC. The Groups looked like NBA stars playing Basketball, they looked like the Chile
National Team winnig the COPA CUP (Leagues), and they looked like they were
Auditioning for the Next Tarzan movie out at the Adventure Challenge Course. We also
had some Olympic tryouts at the Archery range as the Campers hone their skills as
future William Tell’s. We had a blast on our first two trips of the Summer. We enjoyed
our first day out at FUNPLEX playing Laser Tag, riding Go-Carts, playing for prizes and
ridding the world of GODZILLA on the 4-D DARK RIDE. Our second day out of camp
was to DUTCH SPRINGS for some wet and wild fun on the inflatables. It was a great
day, the weather was awesome and the Quarry water was a nice refreshing
temperature. Friday, We ended the week with TIGER SPIRITFEST and our RED
WHITE AND BLUE 4th Celebration.
I am looking Forward to next week when The Tweens travel to the Make-a-Wish Castle
to get a better understanding of this wonderful organization and the work they do. This
is part of the Community Service Project for Tween Campers. The second trip next
week will be to CamelBeach for some more wet and wild Fun.
Enjoy The Fourth of July and be safe!

TRAVELIN’ TEENS
10 months and the waiting is over ….Campers! Welcome to all our Teen Travel
Campers and Counselors for the Summer of 2016. My name is Deb and I am the
Teens Division Head this Summer. Our eight Counselors are Brandon, Blake,
Charles, Bryan, Dana, Jenna, Kelsey, and Lindsey who made sure the Teens had a
safe and exciting experience Week 1.
Our week started off great with an amazing trip to
Yestercades. Campers had a great time and won cool
prizes in the Arcade. Tuesday and Wednesday we spent the day in Camp. It
was great to enjoy the energy of Meadowbrook. Some of the in-Camp activities
included Archery, Hockey, Lacrosse, Cooking and everyone’s favorite Gaga…just
to name a few! We even hit the pool, which was so refreshing, especially on a
hot day.
We ended the week with two great trips. On Thursday we went to see the
Yankees with the Supers. It was a great day of baseball. We finished the week
at the Rock Spring Quarry which was so relaxing after the exciting baseball
game. It was a truly a terrific week for the Travelin’ Teens...old friend
friendships were rekindled, and new friendships were formed, they reminisced
about last year and made new indelible memories for this year.
Next week, we are planning even more excitement! It is Wild Card Week
starting with a day off on Monday and Wild Sock Day on Thursday. We also
travel to Mountain Creek on Thursday which will be a Late Return “E” and
Powerhouse Studios on Friday.

OK Welcome to the Summer of 2016! We, the Supers, wasted no time getting the summer started. The
buses rolled in on Monday and we welcomed back all the veteran campers and counselors as well as those
who are joining us for the first time.
Just as quickly as the busses rolled in, we rolled back out in typical Supers fashion. Monday was our trip
to Lakeview Marina on Lake Hopatcong. The Campers split into three groups and boarded the boats; two
speed boats for tubing and one pontoon boat for cruising. The speed boats went out quickly and the tubing
started right away. The Campers (and counselors) bounced around the lake with smiles on their faces.
The enthusiasm and excitement was awesome! The pontoon crew took a leisurely trip to a secluded part of
the lake, dropped anchor, and swam at their own pace. They also discovered who is comfortable around
seaweed and who is not. Midway through the trip, Campers had the option of switching from tubing to
swimming or vice versa to gain a different perspective of the lake.
Tuesday and Wednesday were our days in Camp. Both groups, 90 and 95, engaged in our typical fun ranging
from Chocolate to Archery, Bonfire Cooking to Arts and Crafts. I personally witnessed the girls at
Gymnastics overcoming obstacles both mental and physical. Then I observed the boys make some delicious
“Tiger Tails” at Bonfire Cooking. Both groups engaged in athletics during the two days in a competitive,
but TIGER way! Nice job CAMPERS!!!
Thursday we took to the road again but this time we were not alone. The Travelin’ Teens
joined us on our trip to Yankee Stadium to see the “Bronx Bombers” play the Texas Rangers.
The weather was perfect for the 1:05pm matinee at the House That Jeter Built. The
Yankees did not disappoint! The crowd was loud and the atmosphere was electric! Campers
and Counselors alike were seen offering their support to the home team! Let’s Go Yankees!
Friday was our first Elective Trip. Earlier in the year, Campers chose the Elective they would like to
participate in and today it became real! The bowlers first learned the proper bowling technique with hand/
finger placement and approach. In the afternoon, they took their skills to the next level during game play!
Strikes, spares, and gutter balls! The outcome did not matter as the engagement was all the fun! The
kayakers revisited Lake Hopatcong. There, they learned proper paddling, turning, accelerating and
stopping techniques before hitting the open water. A nice trip around the lake and some down time to go
swimming! The Yoga crew set out to find inner peace and solitude. They participated in a regular Yoga
session, good for their flexibility, while also learning to find peace from within.
Time definitely flew by this week. A special thanks to our Counselors Hannah, Justine, Bob and Dave for
ensuring the fun never stopped. We head to Week 2 with the knowledge that we can build upon the
foundation of awesomeness that we built in Week 1. On to the next…
