Accommodations
The Cloister
The Forbes Five-Star Cloister offers 175
guest rooms and suites overlooking the tidal
Black Banks River, Atlantic Ocean or lush
coastal marshes. The spacious rooms are
exquisitely appointed with fine furnishings,
handmade Turkish rugs and stone baths
with deep-soaking tubs. The Beach Club
and Forbes Five-Star Cloister Spa are only
steps away.
The Lodge
The AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes
Five-Star Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club
is a 40-room hotel and golf clubhouse
strategically located to take advantage of the
resort’s two 18-hole championship golf
courses. The spacious accommodations,
featuring rich wood furnishings, exposed
beam ceilings, and hardwood floors, are
reminiscent of an English country manor,
complete with personalized 24-hour butler
service. Most rooms boast spectacular views
overlooking the Atlantic Ocean or the
celebrated Plantation golf course.
The Cloister Oceanside Suites and Villas
The Beach Club Suites and Cloister Ocean
Villas offer all the comforts of home,
featuring open kitchens and spacious
balconies. The Beach Club Suites are located
steps from the action of The Cloister Beach
Club, and the 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom Ocean
Villas are located in an intimate, secluded
enclave with a private pool and access to Sea
Island’s five miles of private beach.
Golf
Sea Island Golf Club’s two 18-hole
championship courses, Seaside (par 70) and
Plantation (par 72) are situated on some of
the country’s most breathtaking landscapes.
Sea Island is the host site of the PGA Tour’s
McGladrey Classic.
Seaside Course—
The Seaside Course features the brilliant
blending of Charles Colt and Hugh Alison’s
original nine-hole Seaside layout with Joe Lee’s
Marshside nine into one seamless, contemporary
18-hole golf course by Tom Fazio. Tidal creeks,
dunes, salt marshes and the St. Simons Sound
frame the course which plays fast, firm and
fun in the tradition of legendary Scottish links.
Plantation Course—
When Rees Jones reshaped the original
nine-hole Plantation Course and the former
Retreat Course into one 18-hole configuration
in 1998, he called the result “parkland by the
sea” for its magnificent vistas of the Atlantic
Ocean and the lush greenery, expansive flower
beds and ancient oaks of the island. Jones
added, “I took the work of Walter Travis (who
designed Plantation in 1926) and Dick Wilson
(who fashioned Retreat in 1960) and produced
a classic style course with a similar flavor.”
Golf Learning Center—
The acclaimed Sea Island Golf Learning
Center offers a comprehensive teaching
approach supported by recognized experts in
swing mechanics, sports psychology and fitness.
The center is the only facility in the nation
with four of Golf Digest’s “America’s 50
Greatest Teachers”—Todd Anderson, Jack
Lumpkin, Gale Peterson and Mike Shannon.
Renowned fitness specialist Randy Myers,
nationally recognized putting instructor
Mike Shannon, and distinguished sports
psychologist Dr. Morris Pickens round out
the multidisciplinary team.
Spa
The Forbes Five-Star Cloister Spa offers
massage therapy and body treatments with
private lounges, steam rooms, saunas and
whirlpools. The Fitness Center offers a strength
and cardio studio, an indoor pool, coed
whirlpool and a full schedule of fitness classes.
