AG4U — March 8
Experience AG4U, an action-packed, fun-filled day that spotlights the
importance of the agriculture industry in our daily lives. The capstone event
is the Ag Leadership Forum, a town hall-style meeting featuring professional,
educational and student leaders in the agriculture community. Open to the
general public, the forum is an interactive and enlightening look into what
agriculture means to each of us.
The day’s activities include a career and education fair, seminars and
electronic scavenger hunts.
New this year, 4-H, FFA and Jr. Rodeo Committee members are
participating in a Video Challenge, creating short videos that answer the
question, “Ambassadors for Agriculture: What Does Agriculture Mean to My
Community?”. The winning videos will be on display in Reliant Center and
showcased at the Forum. Come see the creative messages delivered by the
youth of Texas!
ARMED FORCES APPRECIATION DAY — March 2
Armed Forces Appreciation Day honors brave men and women for their
service in the U. S. Armed Forces. Military personnel, veterans, families,
friends, and the public are encouraged to come out, dress in red, white, and
blue, and show their appreciation for the troops, past and present, and their
selfless dedication and service to the United States. There is free Reliant
Park admission for service men and women in uniform or with a military ID
on Armed Forces Appreciation Day.

learn about agriculture and how it affects you every day. It’s a great place
for children and adults alike. Nearly every species of livestock — beef cattle,
dairy cattle, goats, sheep, poultry, swine, and rabbits — can be found inside
this fun and educational area, with several live animal exhibits. (Exhibits are

Birthing Center
Experience the miracle of life right before your eyes in the Birthing Center,
featuring newborns from various species of livestock. Stop by to visit the
newborns, watch as they take their first steps, see how their mothers nurture
them, and witness how they react to the world.

Breed Row Barn showcases different breeds of swine, cattle, sheep, and
goats, with the opportunity to get a close-up view of all the animals!

Did you know Texas leads the nation in cotton production? Cotton is an
essential product used in most of the clothes we wear. Learn this and more
near the spinning and weaving demonstrations.
Honey Bees
Honey bees produce an essential ingredient in much of the food we eat. Watch
these busy bees work to make honey in their hives, which are encased in
protective plastic.
Horticulture Exhibit
New this year, take an underground journey in the Horticulture Exhibit! Learn
about the importance of soil composition, insects and worms, water, and
vegetation in urban and rural agriculture. Get hands-on with live earthworms
and learn how to construct your own composting bin. Plant a seed, take it
home and watch it grow!

The petting zoos include nearly every animal you can think of — from the
most exotic to the typical farm animal. Grab a handful of tasty treats and see
which animals are hungry. Hand-sanitizing stations are located just outside the

Pony Rides
Pony rides are perfect for each little cowboy and cowgirl. Beautiful Welsh
ponies walk carousel-style for their young riders. Each ride is $6 per child,

Poultry
The poultry exhibit includes everything from adult turkeys and chickens to
chicks and live incubating eggs. Come see baby chicks hatch!
Rabbits
Feel the soft fur of one of the many breeds of rabbits showcased in the rabbit

choosing a pairing for barbecue, the wine seminars will have you on your
way to becoming a wine connoisseur. Purchase $30 wine seminar tickets in

Champion Wine Garden tent, located next to The Hideout, will be open

Cowboy Mounted Shooting is one of the fastest growing sports in the country.
Both speed and accuracy are important, as contestants run through a set
course, firing two, .45 caliber single-action revolvers at balloons that have
been set throughout the course. Specially-prepared blank ammunition is used
for this event. The speed and agility of the horses is showcased, while also

Horse and Ranch Conformation.

The Sheep Dog Trials are timed tests of a dog’s ability to herd as well
as obey its master. Using a series of words and whistles, the handler’s
movements are restricted as the dog herds a small group of sheep around
obstacles and into a holding pen. Don’t miss these talented canines in
Reliant Center’s Main Arena.

In this gigantic, one-of-a-kind Western shopping mall, Show patrons can
purchase everything from Western clothes, horse trailers, and jewelry, to

The final week of the 2011 Show is ideal for spring breakers with extended
100.3 KILT Carnival hours and superstar entertainers. During this week, the
100.3 KILT Carnival opens early, allowing for maximum consumption of sugar
and dizzying rides! After you get your fill at the carnival, head over to Reliant
Stadium for action-packed rodeo and a superstar in concert.
ASSISTANCE FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED
Taping for the Blind Association personnel give detailed play-by-play
descriptions of rodeo events. In 2011, this service will be available during
the Downtown Rodeo Parade on Saturday, Feb. 26; Lil’ Rustlers Rodeo
performances on March 3 and March 8; and during the Rodeo performances
on March 3, 5, 8, 12, and 19.
WORLD’S CHAMPIONSHIP
BAR-B-QUE CONTEST — Feb. 24 – 26

The world’s largest livestock show has to be able to feed huge crowds!
The Lone Star State hosts a colossal, Texas-sized picnic to launch the
annual event. Just as the rodeo competitors hone their riding skills and
shine their buckles, several hundred others are polishing their culinary
tools and preparing to heat up their own winning run at glory. The World’s
Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is three days of cooking, competition,
eating and dancing. The sweet aroma drifts over the Houston metropolis,
drawing crowds like bees to honey. A record 221,229 guests joined the feast
in 2010. Live musical entertainment is provided at the Miller Lite Stage at The
Garden, with room for dancing.
This service helps visually-impaired Rodeo fans enjoy the world’s biggest
rodeo. Headphones are available from Reliant Stadium Guest Services in
sections 113, 318 and 517.
ASSISTANCE FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED
All seats in Reliant Stadium meet ADA requirements for the hearing impaired.
Every seat has a view of reader boards that provide a play-by-play of all
action, as well as the song lyrics during the concert (when possible). Visual
information also is provided by various displays in the stadium bowl and
includes scores, times for timed events and contestant statistics. The Show
installs eight video screens in the center of Reliant Stadium, freeing up the
large end zone boards for additional graphic displays.
For both the hearing- and visually-impaired, a selection of seats is available
for purchase in Reliant Stadium. Please contact the Show’s Ticket Office at

ACCESSIBLE AND HANDICAP PARKING
During the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, an area in the Miller
Lite Westridge Green Lot is set aside for handicap parking. Accessible
parking is located on the south end of Reliant Stadium off Westridge, where
there are approximately 100 permanent places. In the Miller Lite South Kirby
Blue Lot, there are an additional 250-plus spaces dedicated to handicap
parking. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tram
and golf cart services are available to assist the public in accessing and
getting around the grounds.
All Rodeo Express park and ride locations have accessible parking, with
accessible buses to accommodate special needs visitors.

Coordinated by the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys, non-denominational
services are held each Sunday at 10 a.m. during the Show. Cowboy Church
features its own unique brand of music, fellowship and faith. It’s located at
Café in the Park on the second level of Reliant Center.
DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE
It’s easy for patrons to get around the grounds and find their way through the
many exhibits and attractions, especially with strategically placed signage
throughout the facilities. At several locations throughout the complex, large
“YOU ARE HERE” maps are available, showing the layout of Reliant Park,
Reliant Center and Reliant Arena, and what visitors will find in each area.
FIRST AID
Professional medical emergency personnel are available during Show
operating hours to handle major and minor medical needs and emergencies.
Several first aid stations are located throughout the Show grounds and
are staffed by volunteer emergency medical technicians, paramedics and
registered nurses.
HAND-SANITIZING STATIONS
Hand-sanitizing stations are located at the entrance of each exhibit hall in
Reliant Center, and near the pony rides, petting zoos, birthing center, and
various locations throughout Capital One Bank AGventure. Outdoors, the
stations can be found by the petting zoo and pig races. Housed in little red
barns, these waterless hand sanitizers are easy to see and use for visitors of
all ages. Guests are encouraged to use the hand sanitizers and the sinks in
the restrooms to clean their hands frequently.

is lost, or check with the Show’s Lost and Found area in Reliant Center after
10 a.m. the following day. After March 20, call 832.667.1000 to ask about lost

MOUNTED PATROL
They’re not literally the cavalry, but security personnel on horseback from the
Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office provide
a very visible security force located throughout the Miller Lite Reliant Park
parking lots.
