E D i R P T A C BOB Northeastern School District March 13, 2015 Pictured are Lindsey Dugan (6th grader at Shallow Brook) and her favorite bus driver, Mr. Randy (bus 28). Recently, Lindsey was choking on a mint while riding the bus. Mr. Randy reacted swiftly and pro‐ vided her with care. He made sure she was OK and calm before continuing on his route. Lindsey says this is just an example of the great things he does for her and the other students on her bus. Lindsey says, “If anyone needs helps he is always there for them. He is always really nice when interacting with us, the kids. He knows everybody’s name and cleans the bus every night so it looks good for us. We ALL love him. He's the best driver we have ever had.” Bobcats Care Shallow Brook Cares! When the students and staff of SBI heard of a Conewago student who is battling cancer, they wanted to help. The Student Council, under the direction of Mrs. Stacie Peters, decided to sponsor a WEAR GREEN day. In addition, the Student Council would match any donation given that day to help support the child’s family. In just one day, students and staff donated $1177. Mrs. Davenport’s 5th grade class donated over $143 to lead the charge! The Student Council matched the total amount, meaning $2,354 will be going to help a family in need. Pictured: SBI students wearing green with PRIDE! Thank you to Jason Everhart and Carl from Doctor Rooter for responding swiftly to a clogged sewer system at Conewago Elementary Wednesday afternoon. Their actions allowed the situation to be resolved within a few hours. Luckily part of the building had a working sewer system during the event so that learning could continue. Conewago First Grade Teachers Celebrating Dr. Seuss Week The February 2015 ARLO Students of the Month for Northeastern Senior High School are Morgan Wolfgang and Jonathan Altland. ARLO stands for ACHIEVEMENT, RESPECT, LEADERSHIP, OPPORTUNITY. It was a fantastic night with a great turnout by our students and families! Mrs. Grimm (pictured standing) and Mrs. Smith rewarded several students with a special treat in the Shallow Brook faculty room this week. These students seemingly never need a reminder to complete homework, stay on task in class, or give effort on a daily basis. The kids thought it was especially cool to get to be at the teachers' faculty room table! In second grade we are learning about capacity. To help the students visualize these equivalencies we made Gallon Men. Northeastern Team takes two 1st Place winnings at the Inaugural State Farm York/Adams High School Traffic Safety PSA Contest! Northeastern High Students Involved in the Startup of Local Business Mr. Brian Klinger, local businessman, is using the talents and enthusiasm of several Northeastern High School students to start up his new business, The Bobcat Creamery (formerly Iggy Bops), located in Manchester. Mr. Klinger visited several classes and Northeastern’s chapter of FBLA to share his ideas, vision, and timeline for the establishment of the new Bobcat sports’ themed restaurant. A contest was held to name the new eatery. Kalie Stroup, a junior and member of FBLA and the Marketing class, won the contest. Students were also encouraged to apply to become a member of the restaurant’s Board of Directors. Fifteen students, who completed applications and submitted brief summaries highlighting what best qualified them for a position on the board, were selected. Currently, several students in the school are submitting designs for the new logo, and the school’s CADD classes are working on interior and exterior design plans. Students will then present the various designs to Mr. Klinger for final selection. Stay tuned for more updates on the introduction of The Bobcat Creamery.
