In the punalu`u lo`i, there is a taro patch that is a Rectangle. We need
Background PROBLEM: In the punalu‘u lo‘i, there is a taro patch that is a Rectangle. We need to find out the width of the rectangle in order to find the area. we know that when you split the rectangle into two triangles the length of it is 12 and the hypotenuse is 15. Find the width and area of the rectangle. The eighth grade went to the punalu‘u Lo‘i on october 23, 2009. The punalu‘u lo‘i is located in the Mokupuni of O‘ahu and the Moku of Ko‘olauloa and the Ahupua‘a of Punalu‘u. This Lo‘i only deals with the wetland kalo and while there we helped clean the weeds out of the lo‘i, re-mound the lo‘i plants, and take the shrubs out of the ‘auwai. A wetland LO‘i patch depends on a constant flow of cold water, if this was not present this kind of kalo won‘t be able to be produced. Going to the Punalu‘u lo‘i was a great experience and I hope to do this again. Math COncept 15 12 apply and use the Pythagorean Theorem in problem solving.
