Removing The Tube Waking Up Tink is being dried and placed in a kennel with a warming device to help her warm up after the anesthesia. Why we should spay and neuter. Pyometra in an older female Testicular tumor in an older male Normal Testicle Enlarged Testicle Cystotomy Surgical incision into the bladder, many times to remove stones or biopsy bladder. Specialty Surgeries Patella surgery performed by Dr. Dozier Go Home Instructions- Surgery Following an anesthetic procedure, your pet may appear quiet and sleepy for up to 24 hours. Please call us if he or she is not doing well! Keep your pet quiet the night after surgery. Help him or her on stairs or in other potentially hazardous areas. Keep your pet quiet, preferably inside, until healing is complete. Running and jumping may pull sutures loose. After anesthesia some pets may have an upset stomach. The first night after surgery you may offer small amounts of water to drink. If vomiting occurs, withhold any further intake until the morning after surgery. If no vomiting, pets may have a small meal. Normal diet may resume the day after surgery. Check the surgery site daily for any sign of trouble. A healthy surgical site is dry, sealed, and of normal temperature and color. Continue any medications for the full duration prescribed. Give the evening dose on day of surgery unless instructed otherwise. Call us if your pet is not showing return to normal attitude, activity, and appetite, or if the surgical site is not healing. Go Home Instructions- Dental After dental work, your pet’s mouth may be uncomfortable, especially if any teeth were extracted. You can moisten the food with warm water, or offer a canned formula of the same food to help make eating more comfortable. DO NOT offer a meal of table food or change the pet food drastically as this may cause upset stomach. Please continue any antibiotics that are prescribed for your pet until they are completely finished! The doctor may also send a pain reliever to help keep your pet comfortable after the procedure. In the weeks after your pet’s dental procedure, we hope you will notice clean fresh breath and a great “smile”. Help keep your pet’s teeth healthy by choosing good quality pet food, avoiding table food, and brushing his or her teeth, if possible. Westside Veterinary Clinic We always try to make your pet’s experience with us a positive one for both them and you. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us or stop by!
