Tuesday, Epping Citizens Vote on the Epping School Budget and Warrant March 8 from 8:00 a.m. to
7:00 p.m.
Any resident of Epping who is 18 years of age can vote in an election as long as that resident is registered to
vote. Any Epping resident who has not registered yet can register on Election Day. Voting takes place at the
Epping Middle School from 8:00 in the morning until 7:00 p.m. at night. All voters should bring an I.D. when
they go to the vote. Voters without an ID can still vote but it takes longer as they will have to fill out extra paperwork.
There will be NO school for students on Voting Day, next Tuesday, March 8 but teacher s and
paraprofessionals will attend training sessions held in the school buildings.

Dressing students for recess in this wacky weather With temper atur es swinging fr om 6 to 60 degr ees
our recess fields have gone from frozen to mud and back again. Next week’s forecast calls for temperatures in
the 50s and 60s so plan for your student to be on the asphalt or on the playground. Students will not need to
wear heavy boots and snow pants.
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt at EES The PTO will host its annual pancake br eakfast
with the Easter Bunny as a special guest on Saturday, Mach 26. The Recreation Department will also hold its
annual Easter Egg Hunt that same morning right outside the elementary school. Stay tuned for more details J
Coffee and Tea with the Principal March 15 J oin the monthly conver sation about gr ading, r epor t car ds
and whatever else is on your mind about Epping Elementary School. We meet at 8:30. Coffee, tea and refreshments are available.
Cafeteria News: Changes to support Healthy School Meals
Research shows that incorporating veggie & fruit bars into school lunches increases children’s consumption
of fresh fruits and vegetables. Food bars profoundly shift the typical school lunch by offering students not
only variety but also choice.
In May 2015, Epping Foodservices Department applied for a grant through The Chef Ann Foundation, to
become part of the Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools program. In January, we received word that the 2 salad
bars that had been applied for had been fully funded through the Whole Kids Foundation.
These bars will enable us to continue to offer more healthy options while guiding our students in learning to
make healthy choices for themselves. The EES bar will be implemented in March.
We are very thankful for this generous donation and support that allows us to continue our goal of providing
healthy choices to the students of Epping Schools. Please support us by teaching your student to wait their
turn, use utensils on the food bar not their hands, and to try new items.
Through repeat exposure, encouragement to try unfamiliar foods, and education, children respond by trying
new items, incorporating greater variety into their diets, and eating more fruits and vegetables each day. As a
result of these early, positive experiences, students develop palates for a lifetime of healthy eating.
Students Council is asking that students bring no more than 2
dollars for the school store, also students will only be allowed to
purchase 2 items

NEIL SIMON COMEDY “THE STAR SPANGLED GIRL” OPENS LEDDY’S 42ND SEASON!
Epping - Director Elaine Gatchell has chosen one of Neil Simon’s funniest shows to open their 42 nd
Season at Leddy Center in Epping. This classic comedy is about two underground magazine
publishers and the flag-waving girl who moves in next door. Recapturing the feeling of the 60’s
generation of protests, this story revolves around two radical journalists whose lives are radically
disrupted by an earnestly patriotic young woman and self-described “religious follower of Sport
Illustrated”. It may seem a little outdated, but it is not without its underlying political message,
although it has nothing to do with politics or clashing ideologies. Like many of Simon’s plays this one
is of the boy-meets-girl, boy-gets-girl genre, and as Paul McCartney famously asked of silly love
songs, “What’s wrong with that?” It is witty, fast-paced, and oh, so entertaining. Starring John
Seymour as Norman Cornell, Dan Holmes as Andy Hobart, and Melissa Opalka as Sophie
Rauschmeyer, this is one play you will love from beginning to end. Shows are for March 11 through
March 20, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays and one Wednesday, March 16, at

SUMMER VOICE CAMPS AT LEDDY WITH MARY GATCHELL!
Summer Camp Sing Out I with Mary Gatchell, for ages 6-9, will be held June 20-24,
from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Summer Camp Sing out II, for ages 10-14, will be held
June 27 – July 1. Camp time for the second camp is 10:00am to 12:00pm.
Children will learn voice techniques, harmony, choreography, and composition in
these fun summer camps! Not only will campers be performing the final day of
camp for family and friends, but they will get to perform on stage with Mary and
her great NYC band, at Mary's big annual concert at Leddy, Friday, September 30!
Camp fee is $125.00 and the registration fee is $10. For additional information on
