GeneratioNext - West Central Minnesota Youth for Christ
GeneratioNext Through their eyes, in their words “My whole entire life I’ve been living in a great home. Great parents, great brothers and sisters, everything has just been smooth sailing and very Grace consistent for the longest time. No troubles really, no worries, all of my friends are Christians. So I’d say, in my opinion at least, I was a pretty good kid growing up. Never got in fights, was always really nice to a lot of people. I was also home schooled my entire life, so I’ve never been pressured into things like smoking and drugs. But for the longest time—even though my parents are Christians—I was never really sure that I was. Sure I went to church twice a week. But my faith in Jesus was never really my own, it was based off of my parents. I was even embarrassed by believing or mentioning God in front of my non Christian peers. So yeah, I was about as lukewarm as they get! At about 16, God gave me a dream/vision that completely turned my life around. I begin seeing how much my friends and I need Jesus, his love, and his joy in us. Since then, God has been showing me people in need, who to reach out to, and who to love on. This year, God has asked me to go to the Willmar High School to love all of the hurting kids who don’t know what the love and joy of Jesus feels like. I pray and hope God will assist me in helping them feel that.” Young Moms Uni te d. Working for the KING to e xpand HIS KINGDOM. That’s a HUGE reason why Joppa exists; to reach those individuals and help them discover, and grow in a genuine relationship with Christ—then reengage them-plug them back in to church. A YMU Princess “YMU had a huge impact on my life. I don’t know where my life would be if I wouldn’t of gotten invited from a friend to go. In my mind I questioned it, I had just moved to Willmar, newly single mom, I felt like my life had turned upside down on me. I do believe this was God’s way of grabbing me and pulling me Creative time at YMU back into Him. It was my wake up call. If it wasn’t for the amazing women that lead YMU and that group, I couldn’t say where my life would be today. I could fall and they would be there for me to help pick me up and say a prayer or two to help me get through those rough times. If needed, they would drop what they were doing and meet for coffee. I am now walking the path I should be with God, I do fall like any person of faith does but I know my God does forgive me. I am a college graduate and am now married and expecting my second child. My husband is also a man of God and feel that because of YMU I made it through many trials in my life at that time.” – Danielle Two of G od’s Princes! Having some good clean fun at a YMU summer meeting Building meaning (it’s a pa ful and lasting fr God has been expanding our ministry iendships rt of Jop pa’s purp over the last two years and is doing so ose)! again! Not only are we seeing more young adults come through Joppa, but we are now stepping onto the college campus at Ridgewater. This introduction is LONG overdue, but we would like to introduce you to Jeff Schmitz, who officially began working alongside Joppa last year. Jeff has taken on the position of United Campus Ministry Chaplain at the Campus Ministry Center. Jeff has been VITAL in Joppa’s ministry…working long and hard and giving generously. Jeff Schmitz, Joppa Program Staff and God is already using him out on the campus as he connects with students; helping football players find places to live and beds to sleep on, as well as other important necessities. In United Campus Ministry Chaplain partnership with Campus Crusade, he handed out 65 bibles to students. For many, it was the first Bible they have owned…one student reading it for hours and being amazed and transformed because of the TRUTH. Please pray for Jeff and the ministry out on campus. Continue to pray for the young adults in West Central Minnesota and Joppa— as we try to grab a hold of them and steer them back on course.
