RESOLUTION NO. 2006-13
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of Lakewood,
Washington, authorizing the formation and establishment of a
sister city relationship between the City of Lakewood, State of
Washington, U.S.A., and the City of Bauang, La Union,
Philippines.
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood, Washington, U.S.A. and Bauang, La Union,
Philippines, following careful research, exchange of information and several official city to city
and business exchanges have expressed a mutual interest in foiming a sister city relationship;
and,
WHEREAS, after careful review of each community's characteristics, future plans and
citizens support for asister city bond, the City ofLakewood, State of Washington and the City of
Bauang, La Union, Philippines pledge to support asister city relationship between the two cities;
and,
WHEREAS, the formation and establishment of a sister city relationship would
encourage exchanges beneficial to both cities and create better international understanding and
goodwill between the citizens ofthe two communities; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood, through the Lakewood Sister Cities Association, and
Bauang pledge to facilitate this relationship; and,
WHEREAS, the City ofLakewood and the City ofBauang mutually agree to promote and
provide opportunities for citizens of the two cities through the development of cultural,

educational, economic and social exchanges.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD,
WASHINGTON HEREBY RESOLVES, as Follows:
Section 1.
That the formation of a sister city relationship between the City of
Lakewood, State of Washin^on, U.S.A., and the City ofBauang, La Union, Philippines, is
hereby approved, and the City Manager or designee is authorized to take such steps as are
necessary and conducive ofthe formation and establishment ofsuch sister city relationship.
Section 2.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon passage and
signatures hereon.
PASSED bythe City Council this 17th day of April, 2006.
