City Housing Initiative Surveyed all 12,600 one- & twofamily houses Identified 1,700 properties that required significant repair Goal in 2012: reduce homes needing much repair by half through a combination of code enforcement and community outreach As of today, of those 1,700 more than 800 of those homes have been improved 2013 State of the City Commercial Development $22 million in private commercial investment in 2012 – eclipsed city’s projections New businesses included Eddie ‘n Eddie, World of Beer, Vosh, Helvetica, KB Confections, CVS, Taco Tonto’s, GV Art & Design, Quaker Steak & Lube, Gypsy Bean Notable expansions, rehabs: Kauffman Park Plaza, McDonald’s, Nature’s Bin, Root Café, Cotton, Mahall’s, Barroco, Paisley Monkey 2013 State of the City Public Safety Despite budget pressures, city has been committed to maintaining full strength in safety forces, and remains at full strength today Crime data from 2012 reflects stability, and speed of response remains a point of
