Going to see “The Cat in the Hat” at the Croswell Opera House
Going to see “The Cat in the Hat” at the Croswell Opera House I am going to see a play at the Croswell Opera House. The play is called “The Cat in the Hat.” 2 If we drive to the Croswell, we will park either in the parking lot or on the street. We may need to wait in line to pick up our tickets. 3 Once we have our tickets, we will go into a lobby with a red carpet. There are bathrooms next to the lobby. If I need to, I can use the bathroom before we go to our seats. 4 Someone will show us where to sit. 1. I will have a seat I can sit in. 2. I can sit on the floor if my parents say it’s OK. 3. I can stand in the aisle or move around if I want to. 5 The audience area is for all of us. The stage is for the actors only. 6 There will be a lot of people in the theater and it may get noisy. If it gets too loud: 1. 2. 3. I can bring headphones if I want. I can put my hands over my ears. I can leave and take a break in a quiet space near the lobby. If I leave, I can come back whenever I am ready. 7 Watching a play is like watching TV or a movie, except there are actually people on a stage in front of us. These people are called actors, and their job is to make a fun show for everyone to watch. They can see and hear me too. I can’t change the channel or turn the volume up or down. 8 During the show: 1. 2. 3. I can watch and listen to the actors quietly. I can laugh, clap or cheer if I like something. I can hold things in my hand if that makes me feel comfortable. If I need to talk: 1. 2. 3. I can talk quietly to my family. I can write down what I want to say. I can go to the lobby. After the show is finished, I can stay to meet some of the actors, or I can leave the theater with my family. 9 Meet the characters in “The Cat in the Hat” 10 This is the Cat. The Cat likes to play games and use his imagination! 11 This is the Fish. The Fish wants everyone to stay out of trouble. 12 This is the Boy. The Boy wants to play with the Cat, but he is nervous. 13 This is Sally. Sally is the Boy’s sister. She thinks the Cat’s games are funny, but she is nervous too. 14 These are the Kittens. The Kittens help the Cat. 15 These are Thing 1 and Thing 2. The Things love to make mischief! 16 Going to a play is lots of fun! 129 E. MAUMEE ST. ADRIAN, MI 49221 517-264-7469 WWW.CROSWELL.ORG 17
