CARLISLE President, Read To Me International Foundation It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest aloha to everyone attending the Seventh Annual Hawai‘i Book and Music Festival on the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center Grounds of Honolulu Hale. Jeff Swartz This free event showcases the extraordinary diversity of Hawai‘i’s writers, storytellers, musicians and other performers. This year brings festival favorite Maxine Hong Kingston, a biography of Queen Lili‘uokalani by Wall Street Journal writer Julia Flynn Siler, and a biography of the President’s mother by New York Times writer Janny Scott. The 2012 festival includes hula halau and other dancers, John and Hope Keawe, Alan Akaka, Dennis Kamakahi and Shari Lynn, and a singer-songwriter showcase that will feature songs about Honolulu. Congratulations to all who organized this book and music extravaganza and mahalo to the festival board, sponsors and volunteers who contributed to the success of this fair.
